Just got back from Cigar City where I had a number of beers. I wont bore you with the details, but the Cigar City/B Nektar Meadery Michigan collab was quite intriguing. I have never had a mead before so it was different for me. http://beeradvocate.com/community/t...aboration-1-ghost-stories-teaser-video.61848/ I was also able to pick up two sixers of Hopslam yesterday. I had never had Hopslam, but after the talking in here was excited. A Bell's brewery day at my local World of Beer allowed me to try 7 different kinds of theirs, but obviously not Hopslam. After spending $40 on a 12 pack, my expectations were high and I was ready to be disappointed. Good god I wasn't /gubbs On another note...while reaching my 100 different beer milestone at WoB in 87 days, I had just tried Boulder Mojo Risin'. This really surprised me for an imperial. My palette is awful so I can't truly describe in great detail other than, "Good, high ABV."
I thought you were wanting Hopslam, unless I read that wrong. I was saying that I could throw a few in.
Don't worry about this part. Most of those guys are just making shit up anyway. They're also the same type of people who save their farts in plastic bottles and sniff them later, so there's that.
Hey Tampa Beerfags, I saw that Spike from Terrapin is making a collab with Dunedin for the Tampa Beerfest. It's a Southern Rye Scotch Ale. Yeah that sounds so fucking good.
I want to go to Dunedin for St. Patrick's day one time. Looked like a cool town last time I drove through.
Proposing this now, TMB Beer thread beer share at Dark Lord or Hanhpapapappapappapa Chicago we stay Truman 's and in Tamps Zap Branigan 's
I'm pretty much set on going now. I ran it by my wife and she's cool with it. Drop her and their girls off in Troy, Ohio, meet up with her cousin, eat lunch, drive up to Chicago for Friday and Saturday night. Works out perfectly because I have an off shift on Sunday, giving me Friday through Tuesday off.
I've lived here for three months. Went to the beach side of things for one day and hit up Seventh Sun brewery (my friends had just left Dunedin). Didn't know there was a Tampa Beerfest coming up, but I'm sure I'll hear about it. And Marcus, does Dunedin do something for St Pats? Damnit, I'm lost.
Nvm I have a family vacation that weekend fuck Not 100% I can go but I'd rather hang with some e-bros like marcus than my family in hawaii
I actually like it quite a bit. I know a lot of people don't think it's that impressive, but for some reason it hits the spot for me.
Love when I search for a beer on Google and the first return is BeerAdvocate. They give their five category rating with adjectives and synonyms unbeknownst to me. I drink a beer, "That was good, kinda bitter, but I like the finish." "That tasted like nothing, a flavorful Bud Light." "Damn, that was dark, and tasted like coffee. What was the percentage? 8.5? Ok, give me another." (I don't like coffee/oatmeal/cream stouts)
I didn't either at first, but if you drink the right ones, it will open you up to those beers. Sours on the other hand...I'm working on it.
Also, I am going back to Cali for my cousins wedding and my older bro and little brother on a lesser extent are getting into good beers, can't wait to pack a whole bag of a couple HopSlams, SW, Terrapins and some other shit they can't get in CA. More importantly I am going to go the beer stores and bring back as much good shit I can get. Maybe my beer nogs named marcus and Zack Zedalis will get some Cali beers.
Hops and Grain in Austin is a brewery making awesome beers but most of the good stuff is only available at the brewery right now. 512 IPA is damn good. And the Austin Beerworks seasonals are all good. But none of these are available outside of taps for the most part. Hopefully these young breweries grow and TABC stops sucking.
If anyone wants to pay for my flight and put me up in their house, I'll be in Tampa that weekend for sure
Was up near green flash and decided to pop in for a palate wrecker. They have all of their anniversary beers on tap right now, which is pretty cool.
Going here in a week after chowing on some Polish food: http://www.tremonttaphouse.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3&Itemid=4
I just spent a bunch of money for a trip to Carolina in March for a damn wedding I don't even want to go to, and then I also have to save money for a wedding/honeymoon in June for myself. Not sure I could swing a $200 plane ticket to go hang out with e-friends and drink beer.
You should probably spend that $200 on beer with e-friends before you get married and it's spent on shoes she never fucking wears...
