Super weird outing. I actually think he's looked really good in his first two games. Live fastball at 93-95 with tail, sharp curve, missing a lot of bats etc. But he's just been boom or bust so far. I think it's being a little overaggressive + missed spots. And yes, Ellis is such a waste of space.
He really outdid himself on that 2-0 check swing on a cock-high fastball follow by a nubber to the mound. Also, I counted three strikes that he cost McCarthy last night.
Just finished watching the last three innings of the game on DVR. I yelled at Guerrero when he didn't take one for the team to get us the win. He showed me. Nice win.
McCarthy's stuff has looked more like a 1 or 2 guy so far this season. Ridiculous and unsustainable HR rate aside, he has been really impressive.
I also read an article that talked about how his younger brother (a 20 y/o pitching prospect) taught him a new slider during the offseason. Either way, he's looked great.
This is a game that in the past I'd think we're fucked. I'm oddly confident that we're going to get ours against that pencil-necked geek on the mound for SF.
Goddamned rivalry game. If Kersh-the-Giant-killer isn't sharp tomorrow then I might start to worry unnecessarily.
