Getting real sick of his shit Hyun-jin Ryu reportedly considering shoulder sugery, could be out for season By Eric Stephen @ericstephen on May 19, 2015, 9:19a 17 Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY Sports TWEET (1) SHARE (19) PIN The Dodgers could be without Hyun-jin Ryu for the remainder of the season, with shoulder surgery possible for the left-hander as soon as this week, per multiple reports. A report from Naver in South Korea says Ryu will have left shoulder surgery on Thursday (Friday in South Korea), while Hankooki in South Korea reports Ryu is out for the season and confirmed with his Korean management, A-SPEC corporation. Meanwhile, a source tells Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports that Ryu is considering surgery, and that Ryu has not yet determined his choice. The Dodgers have not confirmed nor have they made any sort of announcement yet regarding Ryu, currently on the disabled list with a left shoulder impingement. But the fact that Ryu is even thinking about surgery as an option doesn't bode well for his chances of contributing anything, if at all, in 2015. Ryu last pitched in a game on March 18 during spring training, and was building up toward throwing to hitters but was shut down after his velocity was down during a May 1 bullpen session at Dodger Stadium. He hasn't thrown since. "We're in the question mark phase of when he will throw again," manager Don Mattingly said on Friday. "We don't have a date." The Dodgers are already without Brandon McCarthy through midseason 2016 after Tommy John surgery on April 30. So far, their current replacements — Mike Bolsingerand Carlos Frias — have combined to go 5-0 with a 2.14 ERA in six starts, with 28 strikeouts and nine walks in 33⅔ innings. Ryu is making $4.5 million this season, then gets $7 million per year from 2016-2018. He can opt out after 2017 and become a free agent if he reaches 750 innings from 2013-2017, but missing the rest of 2015 would severely cripple those chances. Ryu pitched 344 innings from 2013-2014 and would need to average 203 innings per season in 2016-2017 to reach that clause.
Not the way to start a game. Squandered Joc's leadoff double in the top of the first, in trouble early. Beat L.A. chants starting already.
This is just insane Daniel Brim @DanielBrim 5m5 minutes ago MLB average batted ball velocity: 88.4mph Clayton Kershaw average batted ball velocity w/ RISP: 86.1mph Clayton Kershaw BABIP w/ RISP: .486

Wow, nice play from the mad ginger to end it. Kenley to close makes me feel so comfy. Great outing from Bolsinger, might make us forget about Ryu.
I like bolsinger but I worry about someone like him the second and third times through the league. Really will need to grab a top end starter sooner than later every Anderson start could be his last.
Yeah, granted I didn't watch the full game, but in the highlights it looked like half of his strikeouts were average pitches that just revealed how much the Padres suck.
really wanted that sweep, especially now that we are going on the road to STL with no Kershaw or Greinke

Switched over to House of Cards...was wondering why it was taking so long to get the Dodgers lose push notification and then
Not anytime soon. Jimmy still plays defense and seems to be a good clubhouse guy. We're getting production from a lot of other positions so it's not so pressing. Seager has to continue for another month or two before they would consider it imo.
Agree with fish Also, this was a decent article on the subject: http://dodgersdigest.com/2015/05/30/jimmy-rollins-is-saying-the-right-things/
Hey, we beat the red birds. Woohoo! Kersh is settling in. Kenley handles. A spark from Puig. Vin discussing the importance of June 6th. A nice repose after a trying day.
Do we have any thoughts on the draft this year? Really liked the Buehler pick. I actually saw him live a couple months ago--electric stuff and fairly effortless delivery. Seems to have good command of three pitches. Fulmer might be a hair better but I swear a lot of that is perception based on how much more intense he is on the mound than Buehler. Either way, by all accounts it's a great value pick. Cornelius Suttree please confirm. Everyone one this board seems to think that Funkhouser is overrated but again, we got him a lot lower than what he was rated by a lot of different writers. Staying in shape might be a bit of an issue as I read that he has trouble repeating his delivery, but he has an explosive fastball and at worst should be a really good back-end arm in the pen. I also saw our third rounder from Vandy throw this year. Seems destined for the bullpen but he definitely has a live fastball. The local pick, Brendon Davis out of Lakewood, is really interesting. He's definitely gonna sign. He's no JP Crawford but he's has so much more room to grow both in size and skill and the ball already jumps off his bat. Good arm, could play short or potentially move to third. Really intrigued by him. We also picked up RHP from Virginia and Gonzaga who appear interesting. Overall I liked the draft quite a bit, especially when we keep in mind the splash Friedman and co. are likely to make on the international market in a month. Seems like a lot of the writers liked our draft as well.
I'm honestly shocked that Goldschmidt didn't follow-up with the go ahead HR to improve his average to .800 against the Dodgers.
Holy fuck you Mattingly Up 2-1! Bottom 6, kershaw just got out #2.... he gets pulled, yiMI lets a guy on and gives up a homer. Fuck
They may have fucked up the pop up but just leave kershaw in. He is the highest paid pitcher in baseball. He had 11 ks. 2 outs, no one on. Fuck in terrible And this bull pen, never stable
He was at 117 pitches. Remember game one of the Cardinals playoff series? Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Putting the blame on Mattingly there is easy in retrospect, but they got the pop-up and the AB to Norris should have never happened.
