Bruh, I wish my max was 455. Sumo seems to make my right knee pop, so I don't do it personally. Then again, I wasn't really loading the bar when I tried it, so maybe I'm just a cunt.
I actually feel less of a strain on my body during sumos, but I just can't seem to pull as much. I'm going to keep working at it though.
I aspire to yalls glory. Popping sets of 10 with 225 on DL at 225 lbs. I plan on rolling up to 250-275 this week though
I tried a few times and would always strain my right pec, have no clue how that even happens but it was several different times. I'm also 6' with a 6'5 wingspan, monkey arms, so I think with those leverages conventional is much better for me anyway. On a side note I have finally started to raise my calories back up so I can make some progress again. For those that don't remember my bitching, I have lost close to 40 pounds since January and my lifts have suffered. Going to run Candito's linear hypertrophy program since I'm now safely back in bitch weight territory and should be able to make fast progression on that. Could only get 215 for a 3x6 on bench yesterday, when I could get 245 for the that back in December. I guess it makes since though because that was at close to 230 pounds and now I'm around 190.
I never do sumo, but when I do it's more for a quad exercise with light weight and slow, controlled reps. Almost like a hack squat.
Awesome dude. I had lower hypertrophy today. I actually went back to flat shoes on squats to experiment because I've found myself getting pitched forward pretty hard at times under heavier loads in my Adipowers. Got 230 5x8 and I'm not gonna lie... I liked the flat shoes more. I'm going to try it on my next heavy day. Deficit deadlifts were terrible today... very disappointing. I think my legs got pretty zapped from the squats and it felt like I was pulling way too much with my lower back. It didn't help that my lower back was tight to start. I knew from my first warm-up set that it wasn't going to be good... tried my first working set and got 3 before calling it quits. I'm actually going to give sumo a legit shot just to see, because my leverages seem better suited for a sumo stance. I am traveling Monday and Tuesday of next week, so I'll have to wait until next Thursday.
I'm not a DL expert by any stretch of the word but I want to say I've read that doing 10 reps in a set of DL isn't good because your form starts to struggle at that many reps.
If you're relying on your quads for your sumo pulls, you're doing it wrong. Sumo is mostly glutes and a little quad. Conventional is all quad and low back with much less glute activation. Not really. I've done 50 rep sets before. As long as you choose a weight with which you can maintain good form, you're fine.
http://reflexion-shades.blogspot.com/2014/06/died-in-traffic-accident-in-crimea.html It's being reported that Mikhail Federov died in a motorcycle crash. Don't know how accurate the source is.
Im still in the "build up to what I used to be able to do mode". The weight (and therefore the form" wasnt an issue as much as grip and my breathing. I dont plan on working up to more than 315 or so as I am just working out to stay in shape.
Got under a heavy clean and commenced to fart the entire way up with it. Sounded like a car sputtering.
I finally feel decent on workout day and not archaically sore. Ready to squat the building and Deadlift the whole block.
Been away from the iron for about 3 weeks due to wedding and honeymoon. Since I've heard good things about it, I started Canditos 6 week program yesterday. Looking forward to getting back my lost gainz.
Did back today with minimal curls at the end. DL with 135x10 185 x8 235x10 265 x8 285 x5. Felt good too but the back was tightening so moved to some bent over rows. I love these early gains before you start the hard grind to new plateaus.
I feel like switching squats from 5x5 to 3x5 has been the biggest help. I was missing weights simply because I could do 24 out of 25 reps (this seriously happened like 3 times) which is silly.
I'm returning back to Candito 6-week starting the 29th. I've been running the linear for probably 20 weeks and I'm very fatigued... particularly in my low back from the linear deadlift volume.
Anyone else here love pause squats? They feel sooo much better on my knees than conventional squats. I don't even need my knee sleeves anymore to do them.
was doing 3x5 regular and then 2x8 pause towards the end of bulking in the winter. liked it a lot. may do it today since it's leg day and 5x5 regular squat just seems a little excessive
finishing up week 3 of a 5x5 routine. yesterday was bench - 325x5x5 squat - worked up to a set of 5 @ 345 bb row - worked up to a set of 5 @ 265 had a friend film my second to last set of squats @ 305. i've never watched myself squat before. my form looked a little better than i realized even with all my disc issues in the lower back. that's the most i've squatted since i ruptured my L5-S1 back in Dec '13. if i can figure out how to load the video on here i'll post it
Back from my pull workout The pump Did 6x12 Bent-over BB row and 4 rounds of a superset of incline DB rows and lat pulldown so my lats are on fire right now.
Are we not lifting this fine Monday? Had missed the past 3 days cause I was moving. Hit up squat and bench with only a few accessory lifts so I can stay on my program. Missing my Sunday Funday in the gym was kind of depressing. But not as depressing as watching this monster squat 405 for reps (3x10 at least). I'm so damn weak...
I'm out of town on business and going to drop in on a cross fit class so I can get a work out in. I hope I don't get aids.
Similarly to Where Eagles Dare, I'm out of town until Thursday sadly. Actually works out ok because I'm obviously fatigued from 20+ weeks of linear programming. I'm moving back to 6-week starting next Monday, which I'm excited about.
Seriously transitioning into AM workouts. Squatted and pulled this morning Didn't vomit Baby steps Dear diary
Been on a benedict kick lately. Had one in Phoenix that was chopped up avocado, bacon, and tomato. The tomato was kind of cooked, it was the best benedict I have ever had Had a brisket one on fathers day that was spectacular as well. Fuck I'm hungry now.
I read this, visualizing those dishes as I stare into my tupperware of proatmeal and contemplate my existence and the logic behind such a poverty breakfast.
Ive been eating a ton of avacado since I moved to Denver and half of my work force are of mexican descent. Had turkey bacon 4 eggs and home made salsa for breakfast.
I had a contest on Saturday. We did 7 events in 4 hours in the blazing sun. I was a complete and total lump on Sunday. I'm still fried today and I'm waiting to see if my bicep will need medical attention of if it's just an extremely deep bruise. Oh yeah, one more thing. Don't do 20 rep squats 2 days before a super heavy contest. Even if the weight is really light, like 225, and you think it will loosen up your hips. It will fuck up your world on contest day. I blame no one but myself.
