The Reebok Crossfit Lite TR's are also very popular for deadlifting in. The toe box is apparently huge, so if you have narrower feet, you may want to buy something else, like Chuck Taylors or something similar.
Pulled 345x3 yesterday (conventional) sandwiched by 315 x5 on each side before going to the rest of my workout. Grip is starting to be a factor as I ripped 2 calluses underneath the skin. Normally I would superglue and go but not much I can do in that instance. Chest workout in 45
Last week I was squatting I went down and heard a pop in my knee (over my music so it wasn't a little one). I can walk just fine, jump fine, but whenever I crouch there is a shooting pain. It's on the outside of my left knee near the knee cap and extending a bit above and below it. Any idea what this injury could be and how long the recovery should take or if someone has had something like this? I've tried searching online to see what it could be but there's a long ass list. I was able to finish up that leg day but I haven't done legs since and I would like to get back to doing legs. If it doesn't start improving soon I'm gonna go to the doctor, but was just wondering if anyone has had this before.
I've been pretty lazy with accessory work on my lower days... mainly because I'm pretty taxed after squats and deads. I'm going to make a better effort at doing them going forward. Did some light leg curls for the hammies on Saturday and damnit if I'm not sore AF.
Have a small labrum tear in my hip. Going to try to give it a cortisone injection and PT first, if that doesn't work a scope. Yay...
Really good video from Dr Mike Israetel on protein needs. http://www.jtsstrength.com/articles/2016/02/01/protein-how-much-and-what-kind/
At least I know that pain I've been feeling every time I squat for the last several years was actually something and not just in my head.
Saw a guy today putting plates under his toes for squats. I can't think of any reason to do this and can't really find anything on google. I understand all the reasons for putting them under your heels but under yourtoes is new to me. Anyone have an idea?
Anyone ran the conjugate method? Been thinking about it for a while and seems like every youtuber is currently running it or recently ran it. Seems like a really fun program, I might give it a try once I'm back in a calories surplus around May.
Very excited about my session today. Hit 280 lbs for a set of 10 on squats, which is a huge volume PR for me. Followed that up with 285 lbs 5x3. It all moved very well and the last set was probably the best, which is neat. Interesting you mention conjugate Russellin4885... I was able to actually work with chains today for the first time, which of course is a staple in conjugate as we all know. Used them on conventional deadlifts. Really enjoyed it. The director of fitness at the gym has them stored in a side closet and he helped me set them up and use them since we are buddies. Center loaded, 45 pounds at the top. Nothing too crazy. Had 225, 255, 275 on the bar for 3x8. It all flew up. Very fun... and pretty damn loud.
Any suggestions on home equipment (bars, plates, etc). I think Rogue is the safe choice, but honestly looking for something that may be cheaper but still has sufficient quality. Also, any brands to avoid? I've been using an Anytime Fitness cause I'm the only guy in the squat rack or bench 95% of the time and most of the time noone bothers me. But the word is that one of the other gyms in town may shut down, so I'm worried about an influx of new guys screwing up my solitude. Really hoping I can swipe some stuff from them if they close, but if not...
Along the lines of what I was thinking. By my reasoning he was making the lift harder, by having your toes up you would have to some really good ankle dorsiflexion to get your knees far enough forward. Guy was pretty small that looks like he might have just started out lifting. Really thought about saying something to him but I've never been "that guy"
IMHO, Rogue. You can get some very budget friendly stuff and the customer service is top notch. For racks and bars I absolutely recommend them and I will buy from them myself. The Rogue Ohio Power Bar is becoming the go-to PL bar out there. Plates are a little different. Are you looking for bumpers, competition, steel, etc...?
I would rather spend money on a quality rack and bar than plates. Get some used iron plates and buy a good bar and a good rack and build your own platform
I don't drop the bar and don't really do Olympic lifts, so I'm definitely open to steel plates. Been trying to keep an eye on craigslist for that lately. Rogue is what I keep stalking while I'm debating pulling the trigger. I have a buddy who has just a plain old CAP bar and he said he hasn't had any issues, so I didn't know if anyone had similar experiences with any other "non-premium" brands.
i have the B&R bar but wasnt made by them. So thats why you see theres a discount for it. Id rec that any day of the week. But you cannot let moisture get to it. So if you dont want that hassle or live in a humid region get a zinc covered bar. Rogue will ship free if you buy a basic bumper set. look at the shipping deals and figure it out. dont be cheap. youll be happy after you pull the trigger. i have noragrats about going all in on my set and bar. i actually regret i didnt grab their adjustable bench when i couldve had free shipping. spend the money now and never have to worry about be limited in your workouts. FFS, i bought a dip (matador) for my Yoke when they said it wouldnt work. I just loaded up the other end of my rack with weights and did them just fine.
There was a guy doing incline bench in the squat rack today. Both of the actual incline benches were open.
Aw hell naw. I work out at a pretty rough warehouse gym in northeast Arkansas. There would be an ass-beating over something like this.
Im on hiatus while I move until at least February 15th. Will check out that All American gym posted before. May the weights move quicker for yall than they do for hensleya, that fuck
Yeah even the World Gyms in NWA weren't that bad either. This is at an LA Fitness in the middle of Houston so it's 90% garbage.
