Seriously thinking about working my legs in the gym in my Batman pajamas. Talk me out of (don't talk me out of) this please!
There's this high schooler that goes to my gym. He's a nice kid and he works hard in the gym, but he just tries to do too much weight. Yesterday he was doing cable flys and was leaned over at like a 45 degree angle and basically doing cable punches instead of flys. I've told him a couple times he needs to drop weight and really work on isolation and proper movements but he never listens. I'm going to have to give up on him. I don't think I could do that. I wear 7 inch gym shorts that go right above the knee whenever I squat. Can't have any fabric getting caught/pulled by knees.
Chad Wesley Smith has put together a year long program for Beginners, Intermediates, and Advanced lifters. Starting week 1 of block 1 today. Bout to eat everything in sight and win that hyper trophy
Did work on this Valentine's day. Set a couple new volume PRs: Hit 310 on squats for a set of 6. Enjoy my Candito glute angle. Then hit 365 on deadlifts for 2 easy sets of 6. I'm really excited for the opportunity to hit 4 plates in a couple of weeks, and I'm feeling really good about hitting it at the moment. Cheers, gents.
Fam, one of my goals this year is to start getting into some Olympic lifts. At the end of my current 5x5 Imma move into something a little different. Found this.... http://breakingmuscle.com/coaches/wil-fleming?page=1 Thoughts on some of these workouts? I plan on practicing and getting the motions down post workout before starting in a bit.
First, I love Breaking Muscle, read almost daily. Second, as much as it sucks, Capstone is right in that getting a coach is the best scenario. Those lifts are so technical and to get the move down correctly it's best to have another set of eyes there that actually knows what they're looking for
Just discovered Caramel Pretzel flavored protein...where has this been my whole life?!? Have to say it's now the GOAT
I have a 5 foot long pvc pipe at home that I do shoulder dislocations with almost daily. A couple other of my frequent ones I do at home are hip flexor stretches and whatever the one is called where you sit in the bottom of a squat and stretch your groins. I do several mobility movements daily but these are my big 3
Chad Wesley Smith and Marissa Inda are coming to Charlotte on May 14th for a powerlifting seminar. I'm probably most definitely going to go.
Jealous as fuck. Chad seems like a really cool dude who is super knowledgeable and Marisa is pretty hot and strong as hell.
A guy walks up and asks me to spot him today. "You're the only one wearing lifting shoes so I figured you'd know how". Turns out he's on Oxford's collegiate powerlifting team. Pretty cool being in a commercial gym and having someone to talk to that actually knows what they're talking about regarding training.
Finally went ahead and took the plunge on one of the GRID 2.0 foam rollers I've been wanting for a while so now I can get all the mobility sweetness at home and not have to go use the rollers at my gym. Only $43 on Amazon and this one is worth it compared to the normal cheaper ones you see in my opinion because it is a much higher quality and more firm
Added 2 from ROM WOD. Just basic multi joints stretches. https://romwod.com/ If you want anything in particular i can prob find it for you.
Not as painful, but very good. The different surfaces on the Trigger Point roller offer some neat advantages. I use a rumble roller at the gym and the trigger point at home.
Worked up to 320 for a triple this morning and I'm less than thrilled with my form on these. There are numerous videos on the interwebs discussing the illusion of butt wink created by camera angles and even clothes. That said, when I first looked at this video It looked as though I was getting a little flexion. I think I'm being overly critical - may adjust my depth a bit next session. Thoughts? Am I being too critical?
Looked like maybe a slight bit of knee valgus (knees closing in together) but not a huge amount, although this could easily be due to camera angle. Think you're being too critical otherwise
Buttwink was extremely minimal from my viewpoint, but I agree with tjosu. Keep driving those knees out and it'll engage the Glutes to stop any butt wink
Well fuck my weak ass...800lb deadlift at 190lb bw. He apparently has a video taking the plates off proving the weight. https://www.instagram.com/p/BB-9Yn6jm3A/
Went over to my buddy's apartment to work on my squat form. This is as low as I could go with 315 without it feeling like my belt was going to go under my rib cage
It feels fine it's just when I go up over like 300 it just crushes my shit when I go down. I'm fine lighter weight with going below parallel but that's all I got when I get up over 300. I'd like at least a few more inches in depth.
