well you can only do live game posts like that for one game at a time, maybe it could evolve into where he does a game of the week thing, with like a preview before, a lot of tweets during, and then post game wrap up somehow
I liked reading all the goals. Helped me keep up with Everton when I was at work. I think it was at its best with scoring updates saturday
Having said that. Doing what you did today has its place when Champions League games are being played
Brings back the discussion of why and how we are using twitter. Is it for bringing in more posters or as a way to highlight games? If it's the former then, yeah, you have to make it more about the discussion.
Being honest here for a minute; the discussion around here lately has been shit and stale. Most threads turn into a pissing match. See the Cesc thread as an example. Turned into a complete shit show. It is pretty common knowledge for the core group of posters here that everyone knows what the other is thinking about the topic before they even post. To answer the question about multiple matches going at the same time; see Saturday as an example; focused on the Stoke City/Chelsea match as it was the most exciting matchup of that time slot. I think we need to work on developing some good previews of that matches and focus on particular matchups. The Saturday thread had 35 guests at one point reading it. The Sunday thread was around 25. Maybe we need to start taking a poll of which matchup to feature and do a more in-depth breakdown of the matchup. Also trying to drawing in more users will lead to different opinions and generate more discussion.
That is what this board was in the beginning. A bunch of users that no one knows (outside of a few folks) and have no control over. There is not a single person on this board that can remove a user from it. People have developed friendships over the time on this board. Whats to say that would not happen with some of the new users?
oh well this is our turf, so they should know what they're getting into when they lurk are free to leave whenever they want
Oh go ahead and explain to me why I would never post that comment to a Sunderland fan? Maybe I should go seek out a Liverpool fan and do the same in 8 days? Can you point in the direction to find one?
Nah I am questioning the Liverpool fandom. Seems very bandwagon and cheap way of experiencing success in sports. Technology is amazing thing and was definitely around to listen to matches. So please go ahead and question any other life experiences that I have had.
Do not worry about it Watson. You will believe what you want to believe no matter what evidence is put in front of you.
Get the fuck over it. You bring it up in every thread now. Nobody gives a flying fuck but you and your bullshit is getting real old. You make it a point to bitch about something in every fucking thread. Everyone is entitled to your opinion but you really should try keeping it to yourself for once. I don't see how you could possibly be bitching about the way the twitter is being run. Nittany did a great job tracking the match and generating at least a little more discussion from us. Most of us get the Twitter updates on our phone so once the Chelsea/Stoke match started heating up, more of us tuned in. You don't want new people because you're afraid we'll look like bandwagon fans to foreigners that actually live in those countries? Well guess what. We all are fucking bandwagon fans. Boo fucking hoo that someone will actually challenge your fandom like you do on a daily basis to any poster you disagree with.
Never claimed to be one, but I provide more insight into the MLS and Bundesliga threads than you do. You have a problem with that?
Try reading my posts in either before assuming anything about me. That's hard for you, but you'd realize that talking about coaching changes, youth academies, and match results have nothing to do with opinion.
Do me the honor of putting me on ignore then. I wish you had more hours in the day to devote to criticizing posts. You can't accept for what it is. It incites good conversation with every user but you. I'm up for a friendly debate every now and again to keep the mind sharp but there is nothing friendly about your posts towards me. You do it because you feel you need to have the last word on everything and because you have some sort of fucked up superiority complex. I've looked at plenty of your posts and thought about how wrong you are, but the difference here is that I don't give a shit about your opinion. You're entitled to it wherever you please but I'm not going to take away from a potential good discussion like you do at every fucking opportunity. It's predictable to the point where I know as soon as you get involved, it regresses into an uncivilized shit-flinging competition. So do me a favor and put me on ignore. Save yourself the trouble of even reading my "thoughtless" posts.
Again, it has nothing to do with my fanhood (fanship isn't a word). Every post towards me degenerates to that topic though. Again, I wish you had more time in the day to criticize every poster that roots for multiple teams (which, by the way, is the majority here) or actually tries to have a good conversation. You know god damn well that I didn't follow soccer closely until about 3 years ago. The SB would be a barren wasteland if you discounted every poster that hasn't followed the sport religiously throughout their life. For some reason, you're against the thought of new users here. How many people here now started followin soccer after the SA world cup? My guess is 1/3. You will never see me claim to be an expert on a topic but I make more legitimate arguments than you'll ever give me credit for and do my best to expand my horizons while providing what insight I have for the newer people and participating in good discussion in topics that not many people know anything about. Guarantee you are no more an expert on Bundesliga than I am. But you seem to have a problem reading my posts for what they are, though. Give it a fucking rest.
Thread needs to be changed to TMBSoccerBoard Twitter (@tmbsoccerboard)...thread is now Watson being a faggot
That's fine. I'll never tout the past victories of the two teams I root for (again, you're entitled to think I'm a shitty fan but do everyone a favor and don't bring it up every time you see me post). As far as I'm concerned, I started rooting for a team that was contending at the time in the Championship but wasn't quite ready for the premiership until the following year. I have never and will never claim trophies from the 1950s and 1970s (the only ones Wolves has aside from a Carling Cup in the 80s). It won't stop me from watching old matches because it's interesting to understand the history of the club (ie the names behind the Stan Cullis, Steve Bull, Jack Harris, and Billy Wright stands). Several of us won't be doing write-ups on each club to portray any sort of expert insight, but rather to learn more ourselves and then to share the knowledge with the board.
