Hamels, Holland, Perez, Lewis?, Chi Chi/Martinez Darvish probably wont be ready to start the year. I feel like we keep lewis around 1 more year after trading away most of our upper level pitching prospects
Honestly we're paying Hamels like 5 fucking million a year since they took Harrison and they're sending money. That's fucking awesome.
And we basically signed all of our top picks. Power arms Lemoine and Ferguson could be something if developed properly. Love the Matuella pick in particular.
I used to love following our prospects but I've really fallen off the last few years. So few have panned out.
Only guy that I really hate giving up is Thompson. He's gonna be a good. Really wanna know what the money is and how much flexibility we'll have in the offseason.
meeting on the mound as Freeman's trying to keep himself together during a critical moment in the game and the fucking crowd is doing the wave in the background
As the Rangers get ready to announce the acquisition of Cole Hamels, who could pitch as early as Friday in Arlington against Madison Bumgarner (how cool a matchup would that be?), it’s still worth remembering that this trade is mostly about the future. With that in mind, here’s a look at what the Rangers’ current pool of rotation options might look like for 2016: And though the Rangers are getting some cash back in the Hamels deal, reportedly in the vicinity of $9-12 million, they will still be on the hook for most of his contract. Here is a look at the approximate $125.8 million they already have committed to nine players for 2016: The Hamilton deal is complex, with the Rangers on the hook for an average of about $2 million per year of the $28 million the Angels owe him. How much the Rangers are paying him on a year-to-year basis, however, is not entirely clear. Also, Fielder’s “net contract” should cost the Rangers about $18 million, based on the cash Texas received in the deal. Fielder’s salary is $24 million, but Detroit begins $6 million annual payments to the Rangers in 2016, so that would also drive the total commitment. There is also some discrepancy about Hamels deal. Both sources from which I pulled the salary figure cite $23.5 million as the commitment, but the actual salary is listed as $22.5 million with an $1 million additional being part of a signing bonus. It’s not clear if the bonus was paid upfront or prorated over the course of the contract.
The #'s 3-5 for next year don't inspire a lot of confidence. And that's assuming Darvish comes back with no hiccups.
Bet they end up re-signing Gallardo. Then they'll probably still have Holland, Perez, and Colby again. Colby has actually been the Rangers best pitcher this year.
Wouldn't be surprised if they dumped choo, put Gallo in the of next year, and then used whatever they save on Choo's contract to sign a pitcher. They'll probab have to eat 25-50% of Choo's contract, but they'd still save 10-15 mil a year. Would make a lot of sense.
I'm concerned with how badly Gallo has been sucking eggs since being demoted. I mean he's been baaaaaaaaaaad.
I think he'll be fine. See what he does in spring training next year, and if he's still struggling then then they can send him back to AAA.
I don't think so. If they paid half, teams would only owe him 10 mil per season. That ain't shit when it comes to contracts in baseball.
He was hurt almost the entire year last year. Its really only been this year. The year before last he was great. The reason the Angels had to eat all of Hamilton's contract is because he's such a fucking idiot off the field. Matt Kemp is similar to Choo. His contract fucking sucks and he's sucked longer than Choo, yet the Padres took on his contract. Teams get desperate to find bats when there aren't any available.
Agreed. He plays with an edge that most Latin guys don't have. I hope he is a ranger for a long time.
he's fucking horrible i don't even know how he got a hit he's had like 9 hits all season with the rays
great job swinging on at a 3-0 pitch and ruining a scoring opportunity Choo you torque wrench or not, but Choo stick sucks
