Really surprised how badly we lost our heads today. We were beyond dirty. Hard to make any excuses at all. I am happy for Leicester, as it seemed inevitable, but hate that we didn't get the win at Stamford Bridge to break the snide.
9 - Tottenham are the first team in Premier League history to have nine players booked in one game. Naughty.
so we need 1 win at Southampton or Newcastle or an Arsenal loss at Man City or Aston Villa to clinch being ahead of them. Concerned about losing Rose, Alderweireld, and Dembele for next game to go with Alli. Hopefully we just get the job done.
i think the Lamela thing was bullshit from the replay I saw. What would Dier get hit for that tackle? I don't think so.
I can see the Lamela one being played as he didn't see it, but everyone knows that he was aware of what he did. Dier won't get in trouble, but I'm baffled as to how he didn't get a 2nd yellow for the tackle just outside the Tottenham box where advantage was given
I agree he should have gotten a second yellow, but I don't think you can get disciplined in retrospect for a yellow. I am not even sure if Lamela stepped on the hand.
Went into a meeting at halftime. Fucking shitty surprise when I got out an hour later. Did we just completely melt down?
It was a great season either way- Lovely and pleasant attacking football in a country known for its God awful brand of the beautiful game. The inability to hold leads killed the title stretch run, but the future has never been more bright, IMO.
I'm still confident Spurs were the best team in the Premier League. I don't like Vardy but still enjoyed their run. Wish it wasn't a Spurs choke job for them to clinch as it would have been nice to enjoy it.
Just watched the second half. Holy shit talk about overreactions. Those fouls weren't nearly as bad as people were making them out to be. Hard tackles for sure, but nothing malicious (outside of Lamela). My major takeaway is that we've got to stop this prevent defense shit that we revert to when we're trying to protect a lead. We have the best defense in the league when we're running Poch's press.
Best defense and maybe the best offense (depending on how city and us each finish), but we have a team full of youngsters who haven't quite figured out what it takes to win week in and week out. The desire, talent, and system is all there. We just need a little bit more experience and maturity.
Lineup for tomorrow I'd imagine, hopefully Toby is good to go after limping off against Chelsea. Please god just get a win and put this shit to bed. --------------------Hugo--------------------- Walker-------Toby--------Jan---------Rose -------------Dier------Mason------------- Lamela-----------Eriksen------------Son --------------------Kane--------------------
We just aren't good enough to deal without Dele and Dembele right now, quality reinforcements are needed badly. They let the team down with their actions. That said it was still a piss poor effort. Our once heralded back line has gone to shit. We need City to hold on here, because if 2nd place is still in the balance come the final weekend I have zero faith in us not bottling it, even if Sunderland win this week and relegate Newcastle.
We are gonna need a draw to secure 2nd the final week, lovely. Hopefully Newcastle have nothing to play for, not that it will likely matter. I've resigned myself to 3rd place.
Really pathetic end to a great season. Hopefully it motivates the team to go buy more depth this summer. Would be completely inexcusable to not add to the squad with all that tv money going into a champions league season.
This team needs Alli or Dier to grow up fast. The way we keep dropping points from winning positions seems to be from lack of leadership. I think those two are best positioned to provide that role for this team.
Moose is by far the most important member of the squad because without him it's tommy and mason. We don't win with tommy and or mason
So good news of course, Sunderland won yesterday, relegating Newcastle and Norwich. This will ensure (insure?) a deflated Newcastle this weekend, so if we don't get the 1 point we need... Mason and Carroll are also rumored to have been transfer listed.
They'll come out fully firing just to spite us, IMO. Giving ned yocho some little measure of comfort before making the drop to irrelevance.
If this season has shown anything it's that we're a completely different team when either Dembele or Dier aren't in the lineup. Mason, Carroll and Benteleb aren't good enough as backups so we need to buy more midfield depth this summer. I'd sell Mason and Carroll but loan Benteleb somewhere where he can play since he's still young. Defense we're obviously set with great depth at FB and solid depth at CB. Should sell Fazio for whatever we can get and see if Sunderland will pay us to keep Yedlin, I love him but he's obviously never going to play for us. Need to add midfield depth as said above. CAM and wing depth is solid especially if we can get N'Jie healthy and keep giving Onomah occasional appearances. Then there is also the never filled need of backup F. With all the money from the tv deals and champions league there is no excuse to not buy multiple players this summer. If we want a shot at staying in the top four next year we can't simply stand pat with the current roster.
Tottenham HotspurVerified account@SpursOfficial BREAKING: Mauricio has signed a contract extension committing his future to the Club as Manager until 2021.
Mo says we need to bolster the squad in the summer, I'm sure Levy guaranteed a decent transfer warchest as part of him signing the extension. Should be an exciting window. http://www.espnfc.co.uk/tottenham-h...-mauricio-pochettino-looking-to-bolster-squad
I'm glad we're willing to spend, but there's no need to go crazy. We thought we needed a defensive mid and another forward this time last year and we bought neither and we had a fantastic season. We need smart acquisitions, not splashing cash about like after selling Bale.
I trust Mauricio and the scouting in place now a lot more with lavish spending than the shit show we had in place with the Bale money. We need another class center forward. We rely way too much on Harry right now, if anything ever happened to him we'd be fucked. Even without Dele and Dembele these few matches you can see how much the team has dropped in quality. We need depth and competition for places.
We also got really lucky with injuries. An injury to Kane or Dier would have been disastrous (didn't think I'd be saying that about Dier seven months ago).
