I like this idea. I will probably be inebriated for much of the weekend so it is likely to happen anyway even without putting a conscious effort into it.
What area would you guys most like to see upgraded before the season? I think we are in pretty good shape for now, but with other teams really strengthening I wouldn't be opposed to bringing in a couple more fresh faces. Most rumors I see floating around have us looking for a "pacy wide player". I am hopeful after a year under his belt that maybe N'Jie can stay healthy and make a step up this season. Pritchard is another player who could possibly make a jump, health again being the main detriment for him last year. Our starting 11 is nice, and I think continuity is really important given how young our team is overall. That should allow us to get better with the same players as last season. That said I'd take another winger or center back before we get started this season.
L'Equipe claiming we are going to sign winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou from Marseille. He had a pretty solid year for them last season, scoring 10 goals in 41 appearances. Only 21 years old so fits the typical prospect we've been targeting. We will see if this actually materializes. http://www.101greatgoals.com/news/t...ning-georges-kevin-nkoudou-marseille-lequipe/
I love him. I was devastated when Nantes sold him to OM, even though I like OM. He's pacey, creative, a good finisher. dunno if you'll see him play a lot in year 1, as he's a little weak, but he's one to watch over the next 2-3 years.
I would prefer another CB and that is definitely one place you don't have to see a huge spend. I know CCV is the new hotness and all, but I hate the idea of going into a champions league season with 2 healthy CBs. Otherwise I'm largely content with the team. Let Jannsen start on the 13th -- give harry August the month off except sub appearances.
I'm seeing reports that Clinton is gonna reject the OM loan move, I can't blame him for wanting to avoid that dumpster fire. We could very well need him at some point in the season, and it isn't supposed to have any effect on the N'Koudou transfer.
We are still looking to add a number 10 of some sort this summer from everything I've read. Good link for you Iron Mickey if you ever want to browse a bunch of Spurs news in one place, or any kind of EPL talk. http://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Sport/Football/Premier+League/Tottenham+Hotspur
Wonder how Yedlin is getting on, with Sam going to England his Sunderland move may be off. It will be interesting to see what we do with him this summer, just can't see him staying with the squad. I wouldn't be against it, just not sure how much game time he will get. I think last season's loan was really good for him.
Chadli to Swansea for 15M, would you take it or leave it? It'd be a small profit on what we paid for him IIRC. I still think he provides some solid depth but could see him making a move this summer.
I'd prefer to keep him. He's used to Poch's system and has shown that he's good for a handful of goals over the course of a season. But if he wants more playing time then I don't have a problem with him going elsewhere to get it.
I very much want Chadli to stay. We need more depth then ever this coming year with Champions league.
Seeing multiple reports that N'Koudou has passed his physical, should be announced on Friday at the latest. Conflicting reports on whether Clinton is going the other way on loan, L'Equipe said today that he is indeed going to Marseille with an option to buy.
Friends, Since I fucked it up last year, here's how we're going to do team previews this year: get together and provide a team preview, then when it's fully prepared PM it to me and I'll put it in the EPL thread OP. Thanks.
Seems like the TV money is going to raises for our current squad and the stadium. No real complaints here.
Bents, fazio, Pritchard amongst those not in the squad (along with the euros guys) probably A few of the guys on the block
Some retarded chatter about Argentina interviewing Poch and Simeone for the Argentina job, along with a host of others. Can't wait for the drama in the tabloids.
Dier looks to be next in line for a healthy pay raise, he definitely deserves it. I love the policy of handing our young players new contracts based on performance when they still have 4 years left on a deal. It gives them some extra motivation, knowing that their good play will be rewarded.
Highlights from the recent friendly against Rotherham. Marcus Edwards looks pretty good. https://twitter.com/SpursOfficial/status/756522220218757122
Pretty good? That pass and that goal were awesome! Rumors are that he was promised first team play in his contract and that is why N'Jie became expandable with Nikdou coming.
I've had a Marcus Edwards hard on for a couple years now. I really hope he gets a chance to shine this season, and we tie him down to a longer term deal. He should be getting some looks in the early rounds of the cups and if he impresses you need to ramp up the workload when possible. .
Please bear with the avatar change until the conclusion of the PGA Championship next weekend, after that it will be all Spurs all the time.
From a few days ago. Dele, Harry, and Eric with some lady friends enjoying a bit of time off. Harry and Eric are hooking up with some real breeders. Those women were born to bear footballers. Dele's gf is just on another level. I love how Eric and Dele are closer to each other than either of their female companions, a bromance for the ages.
He's a loyal lad, been with her since before he blew up. If he can turn down top notch pussy to stick with her I'm hopeful he won't be lured to Real Madrid when he wins another golden boot this season. She used to be a fitter bird then that, definitely looks to have packed on some pounds.
Starting to get really antsy for the season to start. I think janssen is the perfect addition, and I'm hoping there is a creative mid signing in there somewhere to push eriksen a bit. Going to need Harry and dele to shake off those absolute shit euro performances however. Hopefully harry was able to mouth breathe in some tropical air and get his mind right over his break.
Edwards highlights from last season. His close control and vision is pretty remarkable, such quick feet. Multiple times he just glides past 2 or 3 defenders. If he tidies up his finishing he is going to be an absolute stud.
Janssen is the perfect fit to come in and compliment Harry and give him some competition. Young and hungry, while not breaking the bank like some of the other options we were linked with early in the window. We've had a good track record at bringing in relatively cheaper players and having them develop quite quickly. 5 million for Dele and Dier, less then that for Wimmer, etc. Their values have skyrocketed. You can tell with all of the additions that Mauricio really means it when he says the player has to fit in with the mentality of the squad, not just be talented.
I'm honestly not too worried about it. From what I've read he isn't the frontrunner for them. Even if they did make a big push I can't see him leaving to be an international manager at this stage in his career. He will likely have an opportunity to take over the national side somewhere down the line if he keeps progressing like he has been.
I haven't read anything naming him a serious candidate from the South American press I follow on Twitter.
