Obviously losing the best player in England hurts but in a weird way I'm excited to see Jannsen play more. I really like what he's shown when given the opportunity
Sucks that Harry will miss out on some European nights. Your heart just breaks for the lad. That said, he has seemed a bit jaded anyway. I know he scored in the past 2 matches, but both were from very close range. He has played a ton of soccer the past few years for us with almost no break so maybe a month or two on the sidelines will end up helping when it comes to closing out the season fresh.
That's why I like you, Ace, always the silver lining. It's like you have a book of plays for them, on hand whenever the need arises.
Been clean for days now. It is clear that the nonstop football he has played over the past two seasons had taken a bit of a toll on him. It is amazing that he hasn't been sidelined through injury before now, honestly.
Looking like 6 to 8 weeks although the club hasn't put a timeframe on it. Wouldn't surprise me if Harry got his way back into fighting shape before the estimated timeframe. Elite athletes like himself and Adrian Peterson sometimes have a way of coming back from injuries in a quick and timely manner. Danny Rose should be back within a week or so, with Mo saying it is pretty much a day to day thing now.
Hopefully we feature a bunch of academy lads against Gillingham. Edwards, Winks, Harrison, Onomah and CCV should be included in the squad if not the starting lineup. Would also like to see N'Koudou get a run out. We could use another option on the wing at some point. The sooner the better if Son has to spell Janssen ever. The form of Sonny has really been the best surprise over the opening part of the season for me, he has provided a huge spark since he was handed that first start.
Well that sucks but could have been worse I suppose. He pretty much misses all of champions league group play though, makes losing that first game hurt even more.
That game was just so bad. Three points in Russia would go a long way towards getting us back on track. CSKA are notoriously shitty in the Champions League, so hopefully that trend continues for at least another match week.
Team against Gillingham: Vorm; Trippier, Carter-Vickers, Wimmer, Davies; Carroll, Winks; Lamela, Onomah, Eriksen (C); Janssen. Subs : Whiteman (GK), Vertonghen, Walkes, Wanyama, Nkoudou, Edwards, Son.
My favorite part about Janssen is how well he holds off defenders and lays off the ball. His post up game looks really strong and I think he'll have many assists going forward looking exactly like that Lamela goal right there.
This is cool and everything but, if we're going to try and take Europe seriously and at worst go for a Europa spot, I really hate this competition and want out ASAP.
I think we are handling it well. I don't want out if this is the lineup we are rolling out. They need games and hopefully they do well when given this chance.
