IMO it is the opposite. Tmb's douchebag clemson fans crap up this thread and pretty much ruin it. They don't know the line between banter and being a tool.
We're Gamecock fans. This thread never rose and fell on wins and losses; it was more about the quality of the food and the alcohol. So on that note, me Tilly and Ark tried the new Twisted Spur Brewery on Gervais Street last night. We give it the UJCO seal of approval
Kid just called up here..."I broke my hand, do I still have to take the exam?" Now that's a bold fucking strategy
tell him the alternative is a one on one oral exam that will be much more comprehensive and see if he miraculously heals
If I've learned anything from management it's that no one actually has an excuse not to do anything, they just are looking for permission to be lazy. Do what adephoi said and tell him the exam will be a more comprehensive oral exam.
What is your general opinion of The Big Spur? I know some of you said the fans there are terrible, but I've seen some pretty impressive puff pieces the last few years pasted on other sites. That Tony Morrell dude is on the Clemson station every week, and he sounded borderline suicidal at the midpoint of last season. Seems like they started the sunshine pumping again ever since Muschamp got hired, which seems counterintuitive, but I realize it's most likely a money thing. I just remember JC pumping the shit out of the defense each of the last two preseasons, and I've seen some shit lately moving in that direction again. Do they just do it every offseason? I guess they probably only came into existence during your golden years. I get that all fansites cater to their fanbases to some extent.
I think it was 2 years ago JC said something along the lines of we would have the worst defense since Brad Scott.
Wasn't he saying basically the opposite last offseason using the predictable tagwords like "simplified" and "more aggressive" when talking about Hoke's impact? And I think your defense was even worse if possible than the previous year.
Fuck if I know. Maybe. Even if he did I'm not sure that qualifies as "pumping the shit out of the defense." They have all been fairly reserved in predictions for this year btw. Predictable tagwords and all.
It was mostly morrell doing the blind sunshine pumping(which is to be expected from any homesite mod) JC did say Hoke would improve the D bc new scheme, but no one really expected him to be that terrible
News flash, no one knows anyway. What is to be gained by showing up sports analysts after the fact? Every single year hyped teams fail and unhyped teams do well. Add in the fact that pay sites are well known for their inherent bias and you have failed to shock me with the news that water is wet
TBS and GCC are just good for info. If you get into the mass population of any fanbase it becomes mind numbing. Listen to any call in show and you will quickly realize how many mouth breathing sidewalk fans are out there. Any team dedicated message board will be dominated by herp derp. Occasionally a realistic fan with good info posts something worth reading but there is too much to get through to justify the amount you have to read before getting some substance. They are very easily trolled too. It's like fishing with dynamite - not real sporting.
I've always found JC to be pretty honest about what he thinks of the team. More times then not, he's been right. No one wanted to listen two years ago when he said that defense would be atrocious and he was dead on. (Speaking of which, that year still pisses me off. If would could have even been like 70th in total defense we win 10 games again.) With regards to this team, he thinks they will be improved (pretty hard to be worse) mainly because of better coaching. You can say whatever you want about Muschamp as a HC, but he's a great defensive coach. Also with Lance Thompson coaching the d-line, there has already been some good strides. (There was always talent there but Whammy and Deke were awful) Now saying all that, JC has still said a 6-6 type team that gets back to a bowl game. Now if you want to call that sunshine pumping - so be it.
Guy I know is a GA and making a bowl game would be a huge success to the coaches. He also said first time in a couple of years that they have actually been able to get big time talent on campus.
Another special performance from Braden Webb too. Should be going for the sweep, but a series victory would be nice too.
Why did they let Greenville do that in the mid 2000's? I was able to witness Duke go in dry on a 16th seeded Winthrop.
