Akale has shown some crazy good feet in this U20 tournament. Really interested to see how he progresses at Villarreal.

Looks like Russell Canouse on a 2 season long loan from Hoffenheim to Bochum in he 2 Bundisliga. Canouse plays holding midfield and just turned 21 in June.
CCV was doing great and sat on the 1st team bench a few times. Was expected to get some PT late in the season but was injured.
CCV is doing well coming back from a back injury and is in training with the first team during preseason at Spurs (along with Yedlin). Ranked as #3 Spurs prospects by some site that ranks Spurs prospects. Most expect some sort of loan to a lower level, so CCV can start getting first team minutes. EPB is doing well on loan at Porto B. Loan goes through 2016. He has been in startling line-up for most of their games. Team is in 2nd Division in Portugal.
McKennie is the Top Prospect in the loaded FCD Academy right now. They describe him as Kellyn Acosta, but more of an attacker. He was MVP at the Slovakia Cup with the US U19s. Sounds like a box to box type to me. Acosta is more of a defensive midfielder.
They are missing the USL affiliate team, so they missing a crucial step in the developmental ladder. It is so hard for 18-20 year old to break into MLS that this intermediate step-up is critical. Also it allows your better 18/19 year olds to get minutes in USL without losing their NCAA eligibility. Union are doing this part right. The had 4 Academy players play in their last game, so they missed their U18 Game against PDA, which they lost. 2 have over 900 minutes this season. FC Dallas Academy though is top notch and both the U-16 and U-18 just qualified for the Final Four of the USSDA Tournament. Guys like Weston McKennie though should be playing for FC Dallas USL Club on top of with their U-18s when it works out.
i think i read that the usl team might be announced later this year i think it was men in blazers that had earnie stewart on talking about youth development, seems like Union has some great leadership there it's going to be huge if lafc, atlanta, and minnesota can follow the same path. atlanta in particular seems like they are going to value youth
at a team in holland he was, and then he was involved with az alkmaar. he's a future US technical director, i would guess
Yea I figured he'd be involved with US Soccer soon, but I knew he'd been somewhere in Europe in a developmental role. His experience would be great to get involved with the whole system and not just Philly
I have heard FC Dallas was wanting to start a USL team in the next 2 years. Definitely wish all teams would put an emphasis on youth, but it is hard to play them in a league where winning is critical and even though their is no threat of relegation with 12 playoff spots for 20 teams, teams are almost never out of the race where they would start youth over experience. Why I think the USL is a critical piece. At least FC Dallas is affiliated with OKC, but not the same.
I don't think that's a fair statement. I think a majority of the MLS fans would support the system if it could realistically work.
relegation is a fun idea and all, but when the owners make the rules why would they ever create a system that would cause them so much risk?
You nailed it. It's not that relegation can't work it's that the system is rigged so it'll never happen. Owners will never let it happen.
eh. point is even if US Soccer was the strongest federation in the world they'd have to put MLS out of business and form their own league before they had any say about relegation.
Mandating that MLS transistion to a different format to keep their sanction wouldn't necessarily put them out of business.
The Bundesliga works for the German Federation. Not the other way around. I think that's something to aspire to.
what makes you think USSF has any authority to give the MLS owners a mandate? the German and English FAs have authority over their leagues. they run the leagues. USSF has no authority, they're barely even affiliated.
do you think it's realistic that gets taken away? I don't know for sure but I would assume the owners have some kind of safeguard against it.
Well that's where MLS being single entity makes it lot more confusing. It won't get taken away because MLS has embedded itself on the USSF executive board. The owners don't really have a direct seat at the table.
McKinze Gaines is now at Wolfsburg and scored a goal for their U19 Team on Saturday in his debut. Speedy Winger out of TX. Only signed a one year deal.
Jean-Julien Foe Nuphaus (2000) is leaving San Jose Earthquakes Academy for Hoffenheim. Defender who has been called into the last few U17 camps. Apparently can get an EU Passport through his mother who is German.
James Murphy (1997) signed a contract with Sheffield Wednesday today. Midfielder played for PDA in North Jersey. Played with the US Youth Teams most recently the U20 Team at the 2015 Four Nations Tournament.
FC Dallas won both U18 and U16 USSDA Championships over the weekend. U16 - 2-0 over LAG U18 - 2-1 over VAN in ET.
Whitecaps were without Alphonso Davies who signed with the Caps over the weekend. He is only 15. Scored 2 goals in USL in 8 games. Might be the top prospect in any academy right now.
Jesus @ Dembele's play for Dortmund today. Pulisic is probably going to get loaned out especially with the signing of Shurrle, but maybe that's the best thing for his development anyway.
More Americans going to Schalke it appears. Nick Taitague on the ball (born in '99 so can't officially sign until he's 18, he's been playing with Carolina in NASL) and behind him is Weston McKennie (turns 18 next month).
