I believe CBS Sports is airing the US games. The game vs Venezuela is currently on, but it's at halftime
I didn't watch, but general consensus seems to be that the team was terrible. Supposedly this was close to Venezuela's best U-20 team and this was primarily a mishmash U-19 team for us. We didn't have our 5 best CBs (CCV, EPB, Glad, Redding, Babir) for instance and only a handful of players on this roster would even be considered for a WC U20 roster. Still their were really no positive take aways from the game, so that isn't positive. Not real report on Young from this game. He tends to get compared to Zardes a lot. Fast, athletic, bombs forwards, but doesn't have the skill or make the best decisions. People in general don't seem to be too high on him as a high level prospect in the pro game, but I would feel pretty good about him being able to make a difference at Wake as a FR this season.
we're playing Spain in this same tournament on the CBS Sports channel now. second half just started, honestly haven't looked too bad. i'm 90% sure this is tape delayed, but I can't find the actual results. i don't want to watch a delayed match if we end up losing.
It's live I believe. USYNT Twitter posted a link to watch online at 9PM ET and had nothing else about it so I'd think they would have posted something earlier if it was played earlier
Someone earlier said Young reminded them of Zardes but I can assure you Young just made a move that Zardes could never ever ever make
I saw somewhere that it happened five hours earlier but it was televised on delay. But nowhere that I saw covered it, including (as far as I can tell) on ussoccer.com or reddit or the us soccer twitter accounts I follow...
I'm on the Twitter page now and this is one of 2 tweets from today (the other about U16) https://twitter.com/ussoccer_ynt/status/759178353765150720 Is there a specific page for the U19 team?
IIRC they were re-tweeting the tournament's twitter account. I definitely remember seeing a que golazo tweet for Vazquez's goal.
Found this on TSD's account as well. Pretty promising stuff on a lot of prospects. Any predictions for the next prospect that will get a shot with the MNT? Seems like it might be De La Torre with the way he's progressing. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/pro-prospects:-update-on-players-abroad_aid39517
If we don't bring in another CB during the window then CCV may make the bench while Vertonghen is out. Still a bit early to tell, but Poch singled him out for some praise after the latest friendly vs. Atletico Madrid.
Mauritania Highlights Venzuala Highlights Pretty amazing to beat Spain as this team looked rubbish in the first two games. Lucky to beat Mauritania whatever that is. Play Bahrain on Monday
The game against Bahrain is almost to half time on CBS Sports. US just scored to make it 1-0 Langford the goalscorer
I haven't watched just following update, but D is in-rooins obviously. Supposedly Pines (rising SR in DCU Academy committed to Maryland) has been terrible. He would be like our 9th choice CB luckily. Embarrassing to beat so bad by a Middle East country with a population of 1.4 Mil.
Yeah, the D has given the ball away multiple times leading to breakaways for Bahrain. Once the ball gets to the midfield the team looks like they're in control
That was pretty dirty from Bahrain. Kicked the ball at the head of a US player that was laying on the ground
Carter Vickers was real solid for Tottenham today Pulisic also got 30 minutes but it doesn't seem anything eventful happened
Some recent notes: - Philly signed Austin Trusty a '98 CB to a HG Contract this week. Trusty has played over 1000 minutes with their USL Team Bethlehem Steel as an amateur as well as being a fixture with the U20 team recently. Trusty was set to enroll at UNC this week. - LAG II and leading USL scorer (15 goals in 17 games), Jack McBean, is going on loan to League One, Coventry City in England for 6 months with option to extend to a year. McBean is 21 and has been with the Galaxy for 6 years as a pro, but hasn't been able to break in with the Galaxy who play high priced DPs. Has an British/EU passport through his Dad who is Scottish. - '98 Luca De La Torre at Fulham and '97 James Murphy at Sheffield Wednesday made their pro debuts in the League Cup. Murphy just signed last month.
Wow. Thought he had a chance to break in by the season's end but starting right away (not sure of their injuries) is exciting.
