We better come out fucking flying. Great performance by a few tonight, but still kind of crappy nonetheless.
Re: USA vs. Turkey This Saturday Yeah I'm pumped...just wanna see us turn the notch up a bit since tonight was kind of embarrassing even though it was basically evaluating certain individuals.
Re: USA vs. Turkey This Saturday I said this in the game thread but Holden is going to be a star CM for the US one day
Re: USA vs. Turkey This Saturday agree 100%, I think he needs to play the wing for now, we have a clogged CM right now, and he is most capable of playing outside
Re: USA vs. Turkey This Saturday Our CM will be twice as clogged in 2014 as it is now, but that'll be a good thing.
Re: USA vs. Turkey This Saturday True. Do you think Holden will get a new deal in England somewhere even if he has a mediocre WC
Re: USA vs. Turkey This Saturday Also, doing a brief scan at the roster Turkey is bringing. This looks like basically their "A" team, which is as good as about half the teams in the WC. All of them trying to impress the Guus, who doesn't take over Turkey until Aug 1.
Re: USA vs. Turkey This Saturday Good news imo. They were extremely dangerous in the last Euro (went semis IIRC) and should provide a good test for our A guys who should play (?).
Re: USA vs. Turkey This Saturday Excited to see a team that should resemble the starting XI a bit closer.
Re: USA vs. Turkey This Saturday turkey always plays an ugly physical style of ball........this will be a great test for us ...hopefully our back line can play physical as well and doesnt wear out
Re: USA vs. Turkey This Saturday I'd give my right testicle to have Guus as our head coach. He took S. Korea & Australia to the W.C. and Russia to Euro '08. He would do wonders with our squad.
Re: USA vs. Turkey This Saturday my algerian friend follows his national teams closely of course and he says US and Algeria have similar weaknesses which is their backline....he says algeria likes to push the attack when they can and put pressure on the opposing teams and have some creative players, but he says that leaves them open alot on the backline and their GK isnt very solid....hes convinced they can score a couple of goals on us, but not so convinced they can keep us out of the net......i think we should physically dominate these guys once we get them in set pieces in the box and some counters
You asked me what I expected the starting XI to look like (maybe this is more of what I hope and not what I expect): Howard Bocanegra, Spector, DeMerit, Onyewu Bradley, Donovan, Dempsey, Holden Altidore, Buddle for no injuries today. I don't trust the Turks not to play dirty.
Donovan will be on the outside, Bradley will be in middle, and dempsey won't start at inside mid I don't think
Yeah I figure 5 is probably a good safe one. Expect to see the Turks play very physical and there will be blood.
interesting lineup today according to USSoccer Matchtracker Howard; Spector, DeMerit, Goodson, Bocanegra; Donovan, Bradley, Clark, Feilhaber; Dempsey, Altidore
playing a 4-4-1-1 with two holding midfielders and feilhaber and donovan prolly given free reign apparently bradley doesnt wanna get fired
Lalas has no fucking clue what he's talking about. He thought Ching not making the team was a "head scratcher"
I don't disagree, I'm just saying it was kind of a head scratcher. Especially with BB as our coach...
