I think he's probably referring to my comment which was a response to someone who was saying they have a way better team. I know they are good and have a tougher time qualifying but they aren't that much better than the U.S.
Findley actually has been better than I thought he would be, but needs to learn how to cross with his left. Beautiful chip to Lando, too. Still like our play with Torres on the field, so much better than Clark, even though I understand they have different roles. Love that he is only 22. I #8.
I hope Bradley knows you can't do that shit in a World Cup game. Take your chances when you have them.
Torres has really impressed me, I really like some of the youth on this team now if we can find even 3 guys and train them 24/7 over the next 4 years to play D we could field a damn good squad.
Bornstein should only play again Algeria/Slovenia. If he sees the field against England, we are fucked
Completely different squad from the 1st half squad to the 2nd half squad. 1st half squad does not make out of the group play. 2nd half squad could be a very dangerous squad depending on matchups. Fix the defense off the set pieces has to be the key thing to work on as soon they hit the group in SA.
reallllllllly impressed with Torres, he actually defended today for a change, and his calm on the ball cannot be overstated still want to see Benny at CM, but right now he is a good 2nd half sub to bring on to change the game Findley played well, but a lot of the time he just took the ball to the corner with his head down, really frustrating Jozy looked better with an actual striker playing next to him Landon is still out best player, by far
We looked like a real team in the second half. The passing was quick and accurate, there was tons of pressure on Turkey, etc. What a tremendous half! I haven't seen us look that good since the Confed Cup against Spain, and the first half of the Brazil match. That was my first time seeing Torres. WOW! 5'5", but what an incredible player (offensively and defensively). I'm very excited to see him in the 23. He looks like a definite difference maker. I love Holden and Gooch. I really, really do. I like 'em so much I'm willing to forgive their poor choice of college. I want them on the field at all times in South Africa. Findley provided a spark. I think he needs to work on crossing the ball, though. He kept running down the right side and getting jammed against the end line. He has great speed, and his pass was crucial in that first goal. I think his strengths really highlight why we're going to miss Charlie Davies: Findley has great speed, but Davies has great speed and is a better all-around player. I like Donovan, Holden, Torres, Bradley, Dempsey (F), and Altidore on the field at the same time. That was basically our lineup at the end, except with Findley instead of Altidore. Findley has the speed, but Altidore has strength, experience, and can finish. Additionally, I love Altidore's attitude. He kept getting pulled out of position, but he played with such incredible effort. He needs to be smarter, yes, but let there be no doubt about his will to win. I hate to sound like Real Madrid, but I think we need to play exciting soccer. We did that the second half. Right now, soccer is a growing sport in the US, but people still stereotypically view it as a boring game, with the notion that "the first team to one wins." It'd be great for the growth of the sport because it'd interest more kids in playing it. The way to become a world soccer superpower is through getting your best athletes started playing soccer at an early age. Just my opinion.
My thoughts on the game: blah, blah, blah, blah, GUY IN CAPT AMERICA COSTUME PLZ SOMEONE GET A PIC OF THAT
great, but he's a far superior player when he's not asked to be a striker....... like when he scored the goal today.
Did you watch the Confed Cup? Also, even if he wasn't technically labeled a striker at the time, he was playing way up when he started making noise in the second half.
I still have national pride, am pro US Soccer & want them to do well... I wish they weren't playing England. It will be difficult for me to pull for either side. Honestly, the best thing that can happen for me in their game is a tie or a US win, as I'm confident England will get through regardless. From what I have seen in the past 2 friendlies, the US is going to struggle their way through the group & the points will help.
lol wat? you mean the same confed. cup where davies established himself as a forward up with altidore and dempsey moved back? certainly he played "way up" sometimes, but he's most effective at mid across from donovan. the first half was shit in part because dempsey played so poorly up top.
