Sad that this is the fan turnout for a national team game in a pretty good soccer town. FUck those ticket prices
Ticket prices and marketing for these games were bad. I wonder how well the copa tickets sold. Most (all?) games are at football stadiums so could be a lot of empty seats.
$55 (before fees) was the cheapest ticket price tonight, and I believe there was just a handful of those tickets. USSF thinks since WCQ sell out in minutes that they can charge an arm and a leg for friendlies.
Jeff Carlisle @JeffreyCarlisle Pulisic is youngest #usmnt player to score a goal in modern era at 17 years, 253 days, beating Juan Agudelo's record.
That's silly. These are meaningless games. Usmnt sells out most HEX games. Last two World Cup qualifiers were 43k and 22k. I'm guessing both sold out.
Watched the highlights just now and ESPN through in Wondo fucking up that chance at the end. Was the cherry on top of a 4-0 win.
It's def ticket prices. Think I paid 25-30% more for this round of qualifying against Guatemala than I paid for Jamaica in the same round last cycle. Mexico in the Hex may have been same amount, if not only like $10 more
The Guatemala match took a while to sell tickets. They were advertising about the available tickets at the Crew match like 3 days beforehand
Right but comparing to MLS is what was dumb. Might be right about ticket prices but $55 doesn't seem that bad to me.
Maybe $55 isn't bad but when last WC cycle you could get in for $40 it is Think cheapest for Guatemala was $60 plus fees
See but that tells me maybe they are going to those venues too frequently. If they go to Seattle LA SL Denver CBus KC DC and maybe Chicago for qualifiers, you don't duplicate.
I get why they do though, they typically know they're going to get good crowds in those places and I can see the worry of going somewhere new and if it'll sell as well. Also then those cities possibly going 4 years without a match I guess they don't want as well. I could understand if next cycle Columbus did not get a match this round though. We get Mexico and if that's it I get that.
Pretty cool to see guys like Mickey, Hummels, and Weigl retweeting Pulisic stuff. Seems like everybody on Dortmund really likes him.
so glad to see Bedoya fit again. He was on a tear for Nantes in Jan/Feb but then the team had a few long breaks and his form dropped. The past two seasons he's been incredibly productive for Nantes. This year he was, by far, our best playmaker. There are rumors out there that suggest he may be moving on from Nantes... lets hope its to another European team.
"Honestly, no. I’m just living life. I’m just kind of living in the moment," Pulisic said when asked if he understood the gravity of making history on Saturday. "Stats and stuff are cool, but I want to win this tournament coming up with this team, and that’s the overall goal."
I would say Orlando should get matches but the heat and turf is so bad. With the new stadium maybe they will have some friendlies.
USMNT is undefeated in Frisco. We should get many more games, and preferably some meaningful ones too.
Not good at all. However it was on a night that we were expecting really severe thunderstorms and possible hail and other outbreaks. I understood people not going to that but I thought the friendly would do better. However ticket prices were pretty high. The problem is playing central and south american teams in Frisco makes no sense with the large communities we have here and the fact that it eliminates the advantage on hot days.
Looks like there's still a decent amount of tickets left for Friday. Looking at Ticketmaster, the nosebleed tickets are $90. Lower bowl seats in between the 18-yard boxes look to be incredibly expensive ($250 and up, $400/$500 closer to midfield). And I have no idea why the Copa organizers decided every game in the tournament must be played in NFL sized stadiums. Some are just going to look terrible on tv, Peru vs. Haiti at CenturyLink for example. They should've used MLS stadiums for those types of games.
I know it was also the same night as the Guatemala WCQ which may have affected numbers as well be chase I know we had people come in from across the country for that so they may have come down for the U23 match Still, I imagine they expected better from the matches down there
Are those prices for just one game or are there multiple games in the session? That's so high. Also the stadiums were scheduled before the draw so I imagine it would have been hard to get the smaller venues for the right matches.
