Like most of the mls national teamers he came back and played pretty poorly to finish the season last year and he got off to a slow start this season but he seems to be fully fit and rounding back into form now. Clean sheets in 4 of their last 6 and he's the only starter in the back 5 that's been playing during that time(but I think the backup GK is an improvement). He's been pretty dang good for last 2 months. I think he'll be 31 at the next WC and fitness shouldn't be a concern. Didn't he finish 2nd to Bradley in the beep test? But he did call out Jurgen earlier this year so he may get doghoused. I think he'd be a backup for 2018 cause hopefully the younger guys take that next step.
Think most expected Colombia to beat us so I'd say yes. Really any men's team of ours making it that far I think is a big deal
This article found the only people in the world surprised that a 30 year old who has never found a consistent role or position in the MNT is not being called up in a cycle that ends three years from now.
Pic isn't from World Cup, those were the 2009 kits. Really liked them. Example of poor quality of article.
Beating Germany and Holland on their soil this week, write an article about leaving out Bennie fucking Feilhaber. Amazing.
Benny is a half American half Brazillian saint. Loved his showings in the '10 World Cup and good god that golazo that won the gold cup in '07. He has no future in the national team but to give Zusi/Nguyen/Davis a call up over him for this gold cup is just wrong looking at their bodies of work this year.
You obviously have never seen benny dance to a N'sync song. But seriously, he's outplayed zusi for a season and a half now. Doubt you could find a sporting fan that'd disagree.
If Jurgen wasn't starting a roster turnover/youth movement, I think Benny would be more than deserving of a callup
@BL_Latest: BILD | Der VfB Stuttgart verpflichtet Bobby #Wood von 1860 München! Der US-Amerikaner sei sich mit den Schwaben einig. Ablöse: €1.2m. #VfB
So VfB Stuttgart has either bought Bobby Wood for 1.2million Euros, or they put a 1.2million Euro bounty on his head.
Looks like Dempsey might be out for Gold Cup for ripping up that refs notebook. Def same thing as assault. Spoiler Rage against the referee could cause Clint Dempsey to miss Gold Cup By Leander Schaerlaeckens21 hours agoFC Yahoo . View photo Clint Dempsey was sent off after picking up a second yellow card in Seattle's U.S. Open Cup loss to Portland. On Tuesday night, the fiercest rivalry in North American club soccer wrote another ugly chapter as three Seattle Sounders players were ejected before extra time was up in their 2-1 loss to the Portland Timbers in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup. The third of them was their star forward Clint Dempsey, who, of course, is also the captain and star of the U.S. men's national team. In a fit of rage, he was booked for dissent. He then seemed to grab the referee's notebook – in which yellow cards and such are recorded – and rip it up (which earned him his second yellow card). As our esteemed colleague Sam Borden of the New York Times pointed out on Twitter on Wednesday morning, ripping up a referee's booklet qualifies as referee assault and carries a minimum three-month ban. Borden, it's worth noting here, is an official United States Soccer Federation referee and assessor. If Dempsey is indeed suspended, for however long, the question becomes whether that ban will apply to national team games. In all likelihood, it would. Depending on the charge and length of the ban, it's not inconceivable that he would miss the USA's 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, representing a huge blow to head coach Jurgen Klinsmann's chances to repeat as champions. At the time of writing, U.S. Soccer and the U.S. Open Cup Disciplinary Committee, which will dole out the punishment, were deliberating. A decision is expected before the slate of MLS games on the weekend. For our part, we'd find it strange if Dempsey, of whom we think highly as a player and a person off the field, weren't punished severely. Allowing players to humiliate and undermine the referees' authority to that extent would set a precedent that you just can't walk back from. I posted in the MLS thread straight from the rulebook where it could also be a little as 3 or 6 matches. Pretty unclear right now but I don't think he'll miss the Gold Cup

For purposes of this section 2, a “referee” shall include the referee, assistant referees, and fourth official. (d) Match. For purposes of the Assault Suspension and the Abuse Suspension, a “match” shall mean any official match of that individual’s team in the Professional League Member for which there is paid attendance, i.e., regular season, playoff, officially sanctioned cups and tournaments, and international games played in the United States. Section 3. This policy shall apply only to players, coaches, managers, club officials, or league officials while participating in Professional League Member activities. The Assault Suspension and Abuse Suspension (the “Suspension”) shall preclude the suspended individual from participating in any soccer competition until the suspension has expired.
If Clint isn't available I'd guess we'd have 4 forwards on the roster (Johannsson, Jozy, Agudelo, Morris) and Zardes classified as a mid could also play there.
I think he's saying there are bigger rivalries in the Mexican league but then again I don't know where what he quoted came from.
Since its the USMNT thread I immediately assumed it was in reference to US/Mexico You could be right though, I don't think we have a Liga MX thread though MLS may be most appropriate in that case. I'm guessing it's from an article about Dempsey and is in reference to Portland/Seattle
