some of the other STL guys are chatting about how they'd be happy with Al Golden... I just can't even
did you fly into a rage? I'd probably do that. seriously though, what positives did they use to support hiring al golden?
I only read it in passing in this group chat we have - was on my phone and in between things. I'll bring it up tomorrow and see if they were...joking?
here's some rationalization: Golden was wildly successful at Temple, which had been a smoking crater for years. Miami is a position with unreasonably high expectations, and serious systematic issues that make that job very, very difficult. And he's done well, just not #1 in the country, winning national championships well, which is what the increasingly insane fans of that program demand as a birthright. theres also an argument that Golden's defensive style doesnt match his talent base South Florida defensive recruits have been raised on aggressive, go get em, go make a play Golden wants them to play disciplined, bend-dont-break, let the offense make a mistake defense that style works at Virginia as Golden proved when he was here so...yeah...it'd probably be the most UVa thing to do...sigh
In 4 years, Golden has a .500 record in the ACC at Miami and has topped 7 wins once. Any response to that is just trying to rationalize the fact that it would be an extraordinarily dumb hire.
New Unis: Overall, I'm a big fan, but the back of the jerseys seems a little too busy to me. Though I think they're similar to the ones that we had in the past where they look clean white in-game and on TV, and the detailing can only been seen when you look closely. Five pillars on the inside neck are a nice touch.
anybody else amazed we didn't draw a penalty on the last few drives or during overtime? I was waiting for it to happen.
think I'm just gonna bandwagon for va fcs football schools until UVA gets their act together. can anybody link me a w&m recruiting board?
WM doesn't have a big online following. Jmu does though. Here's a link to the board: http://csnbbs.com/forum-685.html
John Phillips one of their TE's played for us too. Not sure if he is still on the active roster now that gates returned.
How crazy is it going to be if UVA and Tech are hiring a coach in the same year? That's a bigger "game" than any number of single games combined.
it will be interesting to see how each school handles it. also how the transition goes with recruits in state. might sway a few kids one way or the other. I want us to fire mike as soon as we can so we can get started on recruiting. if the season ends and we drag our feet before doing it we could really be screwed up.
Intrasquad scrimmage shaping up to be a porno: http://www.dailyprogress.com/cavali...cle_4316e7d2-768e-11e5-9f92-a71992516f35.html DP: Is it safe to say that fans will be able to watch Mike Tobey and Jack Salt collide? I mean, they’re not going to be on the same team, are they? TB: They could be. I mean, take your pick. Jarred will bang. Jack will bang. Mike will bang. Anthony [Gill] will bang. So there are some guys that will bang in there. It will be physical.
Best friend is a jmu alum; you can get 4 season tickets and a parking pass for under $400. That's probably what UVa should be charging right now.
That's a pretty dick move after signing his grant aid. I don't blame him at all if he wants to go to Wisconsin, should've never signed the paperwork tho.
hello uva bros. venturing to Charlottesville for a weekend visit in mid November. what bars/food/coffee spots are best in town? tia - fellow acc fam
excellent. I'd recommend the downtown mall (bricked over outdoor pedestrian mall area). Really you can't go wrong with the food down there, but I love: Zocalo, Champion Brewery, Citizen Burger Bar, The Alley Light (for drinks), Bang! and Mono Loco. More of a yuppie drinking scene at Commonwealth Skybar and Blue Light Grill. The UVa Corner district is where the undergrads hang out if you want to see that. If you head to the Belmont neighborhood, Tavola, Mas, The Local, and Lampo are all some of the best restaurants in town - of those, only The Local takes reservations I believe. At some point, get Bodo's Bagels (solid coffee there). The best local coffee place is probably Shenandoah , but Mudhouse is decent as well. For beers outside of Champion, 3 Notchd Brewery on Preston Ave is decent - Cvillian Brewey on West Main St is absolute garbage. Devils Backbone is a county away and is wonderful, along with Starr Hill in Albemarle County. Cville is really big on recreational drinking - many many breweries and wineries in the area. Go walk around UVa if it's nice out, or tour Monticello if you have the time/energy.
