The father of English soccer star Wayne Rooney has been arrested for his role in an alleged betting scandal. Wayne Rooney Sr. was not specifically named by officers, but police did answer questions pertaining to his arrest. Officers are investigating suspicious activity which took place during a match between Scottish Premier League rivals Motherwell and Hearts last December. Police say they have arrested eight other men, including Motherwell player Steve Jennings. The veteran midfielder was sent off with eight minutes remaining in the game in question. The younger Wayne Rooney is not under suspicion.
