Xaro Xhoan Daxos mentioned to Daenerys Targaryen when he visits her in Meereen that Pyat Pree and three of his warlocks left Qarth to seek revenge on her for the burning of Warlocks' House of the Undying. This implies to readers that the warlocks are most likely the ones captured by Euron Greyjoy.

Well yea but I remember reading somewhere, now I can't find it, that he's back from Skagos and was in Winterfell when Mance and Theon were there.

 

There is a theory, though it is unlikely, that he completed his mission, found Rickon, and made it back in time to be the ghost in winterfell. The ghost in winterfell is the dude that briefly spoke with Theon in ADWD during the snow storm, and who many think is responsible for all the unexplained deaths of Ramsey's men.

I don't know what the motivation would be to go to Winterfell. One man isn't going to take a castle and it's winter, which is a million times worse in the north.
