Nice thanks. Missed it, everytime I have seen them play Lacazette is up top. There's our solution, get it done Dick.
If you think about it, three points while highlighting all of the squad's weaknesses should be the perfect result before the transfer deadline. Unfortunately, this year I don't think it will matter. I love you Arsene, and I hate you.
Not just Lyon. He was left off FFF squad as well. Marital out of Monaco got his slot & might be worth a flier
Lacazette was the most sensible choice all summer and someone with potential to grow, Arsene is in desperation mode now, there are no moving pieces to Barca/Real which will allow us to get a star, which means we have entered Park territory I'm afraid. It's going to get real ugly at the Emirates and Wenger has nobody but himself to blame. Chelsea and Mancs slipping doesn't hide Citeh running away with the league.
He was the biggest name of those still needing development. I have no problem with making a run at Benzema, as he will help us immediately... It was a long-shot, as it required a domino effect to come to fruition, but he was our best option. Paying £30M for Lacazette, before that ran it's course would have been dumb... as would just paying £30M in general for potential
Lacazette scored 27 Ligue 1 goals, he isn't potential but hasn't peaked yet either. I would take him over Benzema, who turns 28 in December.
things are shit, no potential signings on the radar, tensions are high excited to see Arsenal fans turn on each other in an awful way
A large portion of those were PKs & from what I've watched, he's been very underwhelming. He reminds me too much of Theo. That's not to say I wouldn't take him at this point... But that's simply because we don't look to be bringing anyone in
Even at his best, Lacazette is way closer to Theo/Giroud than he is to Aguero. I would rather we buy a youngster with big potential, at any position really.
There might not be much out there. but not buying anything just tells me they arent being very serious about contending.
I'm okay with not buying a striker, as there are only a handful of guys out there that immediately make us better & none seem to be attainable. Our scoring has to come around with the guys we have. I won't be okay if we don't get someone to challenge / back up Coq. I don't care if it's an injured Carvelho or an aging AMF in the same mould as Arteta... Just not past their prime.
Can't disagree with that. Ivan should have to answer questions about this too. We do have a pretty strong squad and will get better but how are we supposed to take steps forward if you only bring in 1 player. I like all the youngsters they brought in, how about some that aren't 4 years away.
i 100% agree with you at midfield. but on the striker question it feels like some people have decided that if it isnt from the highest shelf it can never work out which imo is silly. Take a chance on someone you feel could be a goal scorer. it might be bad business to overpay but its just as much bad business to say "yeah we got nothing and we wont try to change it because theres nothing we can do" I'm okay with people who think its better to sit on the money because we can't get Benzema I'm just not one of them.
I have no issue with bringing in someone to develop/grow. My guess is that's our plan B. Lacazette was a plan B guy at a Plan A price... we could bring in 2 young-ish strikers for the £30M he would have cost. Call me an optimist, but I still we address both spots before Tuesday at 6pm
Wenger has lost his touch. In five years he purchased Anelka, TH14 and RVP and made them world class. He has been 0 - everybody since 2003 and passed on Torres (Atletico), Kun (2x) and Falcao (River) during that timespan. I have zero trust in his ability to grow a young striker anymore. I forgot Rooney in 2004. I'm sure others can add more.
Lacazette hasn't been playing well to start the season and has even been getting booed by Lyon fans. Not sure he is the answer. Definitely need to do something at DM but Arsene refuses to buy one for some reason.
Have you guys been linked to Wanyama at all? Haven't really followed your transfer rumors this summer. Him sitting out today has me thinking he could be on the move. We have been linked with him but am doubtful we actually try and pull the trigger.
Eh has he played what 2 games? i mean as Rainey said he scored 27 goals last season. If you dont think he's the answer then thats fine, but to base it on this season is not a very good case imo. Id rather buy him than nothing.
Yeah you guys have been ripping Wenger for what feels like the past 6 windows about not bringing in a DM.
Coquelin was god awful vs West Ham and could have been sent off vs Palace and has still probably been our best player so far this season. The depth at the position is concerning, the talent in attack is super concerning right now. Giroud has been absolute shit since Henry bashed him, Theo/Ox aren't answering the call, and Alexis has been terrible. Forgot about Monreal, he's been our best player so far.
Santi has been pretty shit too. Im not really worried about him or Alexis but when Alexis isnt there to bail us out its just beyond awful to put all your trust in Giroud and Walcott. I still like Walcott but never as a striker.
He was fantastic vs Palace, wouldn't say he's been near his best in the other 2 games. Of course the 1 game where we finally put runners out there, he gets injured. Badly missed him vs Newcastle.
I wouldn't be against it at this point. Unfortunately we all know we're not buying shit before Tuesday.
Would have loved Martial, United paying 35-40 mil for him is a joke though and gonna fuck up that kid's future. Nice that LVG is running them into the ground, sadly they're so rich that it won't hurt them much.
