And that little freak Neymar is closing in, kid will be one of the top strikers in the world come 2014 and probably would've been chosen for this WC had it been any coach other than Dunga.

    meh

"watch random brazilian is gonna be the goat just watch" sentiments are a dime a dozen in soccer

9/10 times theyre either overrated because theyre brazilian or they become really good for 1 or 2 years and then eat/coke/whore themselves into obscurity

I hear ya, but 59 goals in 73 games in the Brasileirão for someone that's 18 y/o is flat out absurd.

If you play FIFA manager mode he is a steal. Got him to come to Leeds when I was promoted to the Colaship and he was rated like 83 and I paid like a fourth of what the other forwards with the same rating were worth.

Re: World Cup Rosters Thread (Argentina added)

You know it is a bad list for Argentina when there are players there that I have never heard of.

I know is the 30-man roster so I hope they dont make it but when your team list only includes PRimera B teams you know you dont belong in the National Team.

Anyway, it is not as laughable as I though as he did call up Milito, Samuel, Burdisso, Lavezzi and Pastore. But to not include Cambiasso and Zanetti is retarded IMO.

Re: World Cup Rosters Thread (Argentina added)

I really like the Chilean lists except for the omission of Claudio Maldonado who had been injured but had come back and started the last couple of games for Flamengo in Brazil. I mean if you are a foreigner starting for the biggest team in Brazil you HAVE to be good. I know he had injury concerns but i saw him play against Corinthians in Copa Libertadores and he was doing fine. Really sucks he wont be there although he wouldnt start but would be a quality sub. No problems with the rest of the sqaud and I like the inclusion of Valdes and Mancilla.

I sure as hell don't. If France fall out that just most likely means Mexico will win the group. Assuming France does well, Uruguay and Mexico will be battling just to get out of the group.

    Go Les Bleus!

people around the club(Inter) are saying that it is likely Milito won't be on the final WC squad. Also I completely agree on Cambiasso & Zanetti not being there is retarded

I hope Chile do well. Don't know much about their players but I do know that Chile is one beautiful country. I've always wanted to go there to see the Atacama Desert. So aside from the USA and Germany I will be paying attention to Chile. I believe they make it out of the group with Spain.

That's because you only follow the EPL and Ajax and therefore your world soccer knowledge is very basic.

    :iceburn:

But seriously our players are not big names (never have been) unless you follow Serie A or youth tournaments (Came in 3rd at the U20 World Cup and won the Toulon Tournament back to back) you wouldnt know much of those players.

Re: World Cup Rosters Thread (Argentina and CHILE added)

All I am saying is that if you only follow EPL and Champions League you probably havent seen any Chilean players play this year. Although Mark Gonzalez played for Liverpool a couple of year back and now starts for CSKA Moscow and even scored a goal in the Champions league and Luis Jimenez (not on the squad) played very little for West Ham United.

Our best players are Alexis Sanchez (starts for Udinese), Arturo Vidal (starts for Leverkusen), Matias Fernandez (plays for Sporting Lisbon), Tello (starts for Besiktas), Mark Gonzalez (plays for CSKA Moscow) and Humberto Suazo (was playing in Mexico and got sent to Real Zaragoza in Spain where he started towards the end of the season)

Vidal has been tearin it up in the Bliga for at least a couple years now, played a big part in this years 'successful' Neverkusen.

If you don't have much faith in the J-league, it's not unreasonable to suggest they are the worst team in the WC (other than PRK or whatever they call themselves now). Just always had the notion they had at least a little bit of international flare.

    Re: World Cup Rosters Thread

Vidal is probably Chile's 2nd most promising young player behind only Sanchez. He was a part of the U20 team that finished 3rd at the World Cup in Canada. That is the thing that has me so excited about the Chilean team, that most of the contributors are really young with a few veterans mixed in, much like what Germany is doing too. I think Vidal is 22 and Sanchez is 21. That team also included Carmona and Isla who are also very promising.

That U20 tournament featured players like Aguero, Di Maria, Pique, Pato, Altidore, etc. Very very good tournament and since Chile did so well, Bielsa decided to use that team as the base for the adult team and it has paid dividends. I hope the trend continues.

    Re: World Cup Rosters Thread

I think Chile did enough in qaulifing to expect to do something in the current WC. I don't know why, but I see a real power vacuum in this years tournie and think it could be like Euro04 where one or even two teams break-through on the world stage. I expect one to be Ivory Coast. The other I think comes from either Chile, Holland (re-breakthrough), or Uruguay (could face a very easy path relative to most others). Anyway, with Germany I really do have to look forward especially now that Ballack is out, but while Chile may be on a positive gradient overall, I think immediate success is realistic. Things are so crazy now for Die Mannschaft I can't even begin to give a starting lineup like u asked.

    Re: World Cup Rosters Thread

The only problem with Chile is that we are really young at some positions and the players have not been in top tier football long enough IMO.

I would have loved for Pizarro to stop being a bitch a while ago and join the team because he has that experience and could have been the instrumental creative rock in the middle that we need. Like I said, before when Fernandez plays well we are very very dangerous, but when he is not up to par (too often) we do not. I actually would rather have Valdivia starting in his place or at least both on the field at the same time so that if one is not doing too good the other can pick up the slack.

Also key to Chile's success is the fitness of Gonzalez and Suazo, our two veterans up top. Gonzalez has played at Liverpool and now plays for CSKA Moscow so he was plenty of experience and it is still fairly young at 25. Suazo is the real veteran and seems to always be in position to score.

I just hope Chile doesnt flop to be honest. Even if we finish 2nd to Spain we most likely would face Brazil in the 2nd round.

Good cuts except for keeping Palermo instead of Lavezzi.

Having said that, no way Veron, Garce, Rodriguez (Estudiantes) and Bolatti should be in the Argentina 23-man squad while players like Zanetti, Cambiasso and Lisandro Lopez are not.

In reality Spain's weakness is depth at true strikers. I mean they have 2 of the best in the world in Torres and Villa but the drop after them is considerable. If Torres cant play the first game I think they would use a 4-3-3 instead of a 4-4-2.
