Update on our high school season. Oracle Jr got hurt in practice a couple of weeks ago with a neck sprain, so he hasn't been practicing. The only tourney left is State Championships in 2 weeks. I am afraid he will get smashed swiftly, but if the neck is still bothering him, I will probably just hold him out and wait for next year. The rest of the team has done fairly well for our youth and inexperience. 11 of 14 varsity slots are filled with Freshmen, so they are taking their lumps right now.
Jr placed 8th at his district tournament last weekend. Not too bad for a rookie. He's jumping into the club team this week and already has a state invitational tournament in two weeks.
Wow, didn't realize this was going to happen so soon.... Nevills could wrestle this Friday for PSU against Lehigh.
i was so sure Cael was going to hold him out this year and go for a 6th year (this is his second year lost to injury). Have to wonder what kind of shape hes in though.
GGCD b7 SugarShaun When do the RPI rankings come out? Last year I think it was late February? If there's a link please feel free to link it and thanks!!! Side note: I met the mccutchens and Matt last weekend - scary moment at Ill but he's fine.
did some juggsian research. reddit is reporting that he had pneumonia and suffered heart failure in the hospital.
Man, that sucks. One of the greatest OSU wrestlers ever. Two time national champion, former UFC champion. Obligatory gif time. Just the Monster suplexing the greatest heavyweight of all time flat on his head.
Randleman might be the 2nd best OSU wrestler of all time behind Logan Stieber. NCAA Finalist as a freshman, lost to a guy in the finals he had already beaten, undefeated champion as a sophomore, won NCAA championship as a junior despite dislocating his jaw early in the tournament. Ineligible due to grades senior year, would have been a 3X champ and 1X finalist, probably considered among the best collegiate wrestlers of all time. Then he went ahead and had a very successful MMA career, becoming a UFC heavyweight champion. FYI, the list of guys who lost in the 1991 NCAA finals is unreal... Terry Brands-128 Iowa, Troy Steiner-142 Iowa, Tom Ryan-158 Iowa, Kevin Randleman-177 OSU, Randy Couture-190 Oklahoma State, Kurt Angle HWT Clarion. Pat Smith and Tom Brands won titles. Insane.
Some really good matchups in OSU-Wisconsin dual today. 133: JDJ vs Ryan Taylor - Going with Taylor 149: Stieber vs Crone - Pick em. 165: Bo vs Zeke - The Big One 174: MyMar vs Robertson - Myles 184: Courts vs Christensen - Courts won by MD first matchup, think this is closer HWT: Snyder vs Horwath - Brock is good but he's not a world champion.
what sucks is that shitty btn2go always starts late because they are terrible. Gonna miss most or all of that match. Fuck.
Zeke hits a single early, turns it into a double, 2-0 Isaac Quick escape Bo, that's big, struggles on bottom. Another takedown for Zeke and another quick escape, 4-2 Isaac 1st ends there, Bo looks a little sluggish... Not sure who chose neutral, but that's where they start. Bo fights off a big single early in 2nd. Quick go behind for zeke, another quick escape for Bo. 6-3 Zeke. Bo chooses down to start the 3rd and gets yet another quick escape. 6-4. Bo in on a single but can't find his range. Zeke in on yet another single, Bo fights this one off and Zeke needs some blood time. Bo needs a TD and a rideout. Bo in on a double, his best shot of the night, but Zeke squares up and backs out of it. Zeke stops a series of attacks without much problem and hangs on for the 6-4 lead. Zeke looked noticeably quicker than Bo. Think he would have significantly more success at 174.
I think Bo moves up to 174 and Zeke stays at 165 and wins a national championship next year. 165 will be pretty barren next year. Only Rohskopf and Daniel Lewis return from the top 10. And Logan Massa comes off his RS and will contend. 174 on the other hand will be absolutely loaded.
Kyle Snyder is about to maul Brock Horwath. I'm guessing he gets something like 9-10 takedowns but settles for the major.
Going from Snyder's ankle pick to Tomasello's high crotch 285-->125...possibly the two most dangerous moves in collegiate wrestling right now.
Never should have RS'd the kid, I remember when he was like 20-0 4 years ago. Fuck'd the kid, what a shame - seriously
lol huh? Cael just redshirted Nico and Megaludis last season. It's not like Hunter got hurt because he redshirted.
Seems like Myles needs to hit the weight room big time to succeed at 184. He's got freakish talent but isn't good at finishing his moves.
I meant Retherford obviously...a bit tired. Point is that they were redshirted mid-career and Cael is a genius, yet Hunter was redshirted mid-career and Ryan fucked him? Doesn't make any sense. Sucks for Hunter that he's had three of the most serious injuries you can have as an athlete, but it's not Tom Ryan's fault.
Not big on Ryan as a coach - he won a title against the most wide open field ever. He bitches about every call and probably should be tech'd up on most of them.
Yep, the guy who gave us our first NC and landed the best wrestler in recent memory isn't a good coach. Thanks stevis.
If you could name the teams and the results I would be more impressed. Damn that loss must have hurt real bad last weekend. Get use to it...
Your mom. I don't remember who was 2nd. Know Bo lost to Deiringer and Snyder got pinned by Gadson, don't remember who Courts lost to. (obviously Logan and Nate won titles) Funny you say last year was wide open when Ohio State is probably the biggest challenger this year with holes all over the roster. We'll see what happens next year, asshole. /gunning
Ok We'll see what happens but please remember these names Meg Conaway Retherford Nolf Nickal Cutch Mac Nevills Oh and next year "asshole" we add Hall Suriano and probably Lee - good luck "asshole"
Just saw Rohskopf-McFadden. Rohskopf is a serious beast. I didn't realize how much I was underestimating him. He's a legit finalist candidate and could be a champ next year.
