Chad Red missed weight apparently so no Pletcher-Red IV at the Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic. Still plenty of great matchups but that's the one I wanted to see.
Top 5 2016 recruit Nick Reenan was granted his release from Northwestern after they promoted their Interim HC. Hearing OSU has made him a priority as 184 is their biggest need according to Tom Ryan. Would give them three top 10 recruits along with Luke Pletcher and Isaiah White and put them in the conversation with Penn State for #1 class in the country.
How do you not make weight? D1 wrestling.com has us ranked #22 in the country with Suriano and Hall coming in, how yes I don't know.
I'm assuming you're looking at last years rankings when they just brought in Cenzo and Stout. This year they are obviously #1 with Hall, Suriano, and Manville.
Saw on a podcast today posted on FLO that OSU, NC State, VT, ASU are the main players for Reenan with OKST and Iowa possibilities as well due to fit. Didn't really consider VT or ASU, but damn, if Reenan went to ASU, that would be a potentially scary lineup.... 49: Maruca 57: Shields 65: Valencia 74: Reenan 84: Valencia 97: Benick 285: Hall

Waters, unlikely, but I seem to remember him beasting his last tournament. Cox is a little more of an unknown because he is going to be an enormous 86kg. He hasn't wrestled at that weight since...who knows. A lot of those guys are really small. Taylor, Dake, Gavin, Caldwell, Reader, MyMar...Cox is going to dwarf them. They wrestled 1.5-2.5 weight classes below Cox in college, and Cox was a big 197 that wrestled at heavy when his team needed him there. Herbert is getting old, this is his last hurrah. Ed Ruth could make noise here. Depends on brackets, I think.
Can you explain to me Olympic qualifying? Is it just a tournament and winner in each advance and only the winner?
Also JD Bergman is the man. I played football against him in high school and was on his team in an all star game. Great dude
There are tournaments over the course of the year which qualify you towards US Olympic trials. This is the "last chance" qualifier. The winner at each weight gets the last spot at the trials. At the trials there is a tournament for each weight class, but burroughs and Snyder are already locked into the finals for their World performances. Some good stuff about to go down at 74 KG. Marstellar-A Valencia in a battle of former #1 recruits, winner faces the winner of Dylan Ness and Andrew Sorenson. Mark Hall awaits on the other side of the bracket
Ok. So the pre seeds that you listed is for the trials and not the tourney today. So there is no trials for Snyder and Burroughs weight class or how does that work? And do all NCAA champs qualify for trials?
Today is not the Olympic Trials. This is the last chance qualifier. Whoever wins each weight class stays in Iowa and wrestles in the Olympic Trials next weekend. Only one person from each weight class there makes the Olympic team, although there will be alternates in case of injury. There is a "challenger" tournament at 97kg and 74kg because of Snyder and Burroughs placement at Worlds. The winner at each weight class in the Olympic Trials next week will not make the olympic team, but instead face Snyder/Burroughs in a best 2 out of 3 match for that right.
Ah man, Stevan Micic looking good against Obe Blanc, up 5-0, gets pinned. Thought he was gonna make noise.
Cox qualified for the Olympic Trials by way of winning an NCAA title. He is not wrestling today, he is wrestling next weekend.

WOW Hall victimized by two 4 point throws in the opening seconds of the match, down 8-0 and one TD away from being teched. looks like he gets taken down but no call! Then rattles off 10 straight points. 10-8 Hall at the break. He scores 6 more to win 16-8 after being down 8-0 early. Valencia beats Marstellar 9-4. Getting closer to the Hall-Valencia final.
Hope he loses, can't wait two years. Nickal and throws - woof Other news no Teasdale or S.Lee at NHSAA
Absolutely. He has what it takes skill wise and mentally. Not sure he wrestles 4 years in college though.
I don't know about that. He needs to win several, which he won't, and even then, he's not beating burroughs.
Stevis_In_C-Bus In a battle of top 10 Freshmen, Jordan Decatur (OH) defeats state champ Justin Chlebove (PA) 7-3. Chlebove is the #1 wrestler in PA for 2019. Decatur is the #2 wrestler in Ohio for 2019.
Came out today that David McFadden (6th place, true freshman, VT) tore his ACL on Friday. Then stormed through wrestle backs to get 6th. Incredible. Nick Brascetta, who got 3rd, wrestled the entire tournament with a torn quad.
Also... How'd your recruits do? http://www.pe.com/articles/round-798862-new-division.html Spoiler Tough effing tournament.... I didn't go, because I wanted to go on Spring Break instead. Even now, I'm not convinced it was a bad decision.
Elijah Cleary made it to the finals at 170 and gave Daniel Bullard a run for his money. Not bad. He will be counted on to wrestle for OSU at some point in his career.
GGCD b7 SugarShaun Met NATO at the airport yesterday - took a selfie with him. Great kid but tiny, looks like he could make 105. Obviously the arms add the weight
Negative on the trials but you had at least 6 guys walk through the terminal on Thursday. NATO is about as tall as a yard stick but you can tell the guns are there.
My 3 year old came off the mat crying yesterday and I was like what the fuck. he finally confessed he was mad that he was loosing (he was wrestling a five year old) I called my dad and said no more free bee uno games.
65 KG: Stieber techs Futrell 10-0, looks focused. Molinaro techs Russell 13-1, he gets Metcalf next. Kennedy techs Heil 12-2, looked great as well, crazy how easily he dominated an NCAA champ Humphrey dec Chamberlain 6-3, was not particularly impressive. I don't see him being able to match Kennedy right now. Pico is losing 0-9 to Jayson Ness and is on the verge of losing by tech fall! But he rattles off 20 straight points for a TF of his own. WE HAVE AN UPSET: Zain Retherford has just put the division on notice by defeating the reigning 70 kg world bronze medalist James Green 9-2. He will wrestle LOGAN STIEBER next. Wow. Round 2 matches: Metcalf-Molinaro Stieber-Retherford Kennedy-Humphrey Oliver-Pico Guessing Metcalf-Stieber, Kennedy-Oliver in the semis, but wow that Stieber-Retherford rivalry....
Molinaro defeats Metcalf on criteria in carver!!! 3-3 That's a wow. He moves on to face the winner of Stieber-Retherford. Shit is getting too real. Also Molinaro is wrestling with an obviously injured wrist. Stieber-Retherford coming up right now on mat 4. Retherford up 4-2 after 1. Humphrey up 4-1 on Kennedy.
Stieber down 4-0 early but rebounds for an 8-6 win in an awesome match. Humphrey up 10-5 on Kennedy, but FUCK, Humphrey hurts his ankle and will continue but he is still in control. 10-9 Humphrey. Two more takedowns! 14-9 Humphrey late in match. 14-10 after stepout. 9 seconds left. Humphrey does it! 14-11.
AARON PICO 11-9 OVER JORDAN OLIVER!! Match of the tourney so far, incredible!! Just went back and forth all match, Oliver lost a LOT of steam after controlling the match early. I guess Pico can do that to you. Stieber-Molinaro Pico-Humphrey If you had that as your semi, I don't believe you I guess this makes Logan Stieber the favorite to head to Rio.
125 kg Quarters: Dlagnev with a quick 10-0 TF. Ohio RTC dominating the trials with 3 in the semis already and Snyder awaiting in the finals. Heading out so that's all I get to see for the morning session.
