saw that in the paper today. same lineup as the willy nelson 4th of july picnic. but the price tag on admission will easily be $150+
Guys I can't remember if they were mentioned in the Red Dirt thread beforehand: Zane Williams Jayton and Jill (look up the youtube on this. He asks fans to send in words for him to use in a song, and this one turned out well, and has done extremely well on the Texas Music Chart.) Texas Like That (If you have a Texas boner, then you'll probably like it.) Cody Jinks (dude is a boss) We're Gonna Dance Loud & Heavy Hippies and Cowboys Sundance Head (guy does self-proclaimed Soul-Country, and I'm not a huge fan of all of his stuff, but this song is awesome. Guy's pipes are ridiculous.) Darlin Don't Go Cody Johnson (very country sound, he could eventually go mainstream, but I enjoy most of what he's put out thus far. My favorites of his below.) Holes Hurtin Proud Texas Kinda Way (Texas boner maybe) Dance Her Home Sam Riggs and the Night People Hold on and Let Go (pretty sure it's a song about driving drunk and getting a DWI, with an idiot girlfriend. Good song though.) Last Prayer I listen to Slacker Radio "Red Dirt Road" at work when I can and the chrome ad block seems to block most of the ads, plus the station seems to be updated regularly with the latest Red Dirt music.
Now everyone be on red cups n getting buzzed faze cause its popular( got it all figured out). all these new young ones wanna act the same...basically you get a bunch of redundant bullshite.
CMA Fest being in town spurred a debate with some friends. Give me your top 5 female artists of all time. Mine in no particular order: Reba Patsy Cline Tammy Wynette Dolly Parton Loretta Lynn
I always wanted to write a parody country album, ala Cletus T. Judd, and call it "Describin' what I'm doin'"
That was the first version I ever heard. I felt dumb when I heard solo album version and was singing different words. Duval told me bout that almost 3 years ago.
Willie's 4th of July picnic was awesome. I know Sturgill gets a lot of love in here, but when you see him live your opinion gets even higher. Brought a ton of energy to the show. Hated he could only play 35 mins. Sturgill, Stapleton, and Isbell absolutely killed it. Eric Church brought Chris and Morgan Stapleton out to end his set and they sang The Weight. It was awesome. Merle is old as hell, but he still has a little bit left in the tank. Pancho and Lefty, Tonight the Bottle Let Me Down, Mama Tried were all sang. Glad I got to see him before he quit. Only downside to the show was Willie. He's mailed it in. Extremely disappointing.
I heard this one for the first time this weekend. I can't believe this was made. What the fuck. I don't even have words.
Probably somewhat of an unpopular opinion, but Chris Young has an incredible voice. Probably the best in Country Music right now. Sucks that his last album was complete dog shit. He used to sing some good stuff though.
So this is being played on country radio now. Im not sure in what universe this is considered country. Even the bro country shit is atleast 5% country.
Dumb question, so you get it for free, or since it says free pre sale does that mean that you pay for it when it goes on sale?
This song isn't terrible, it's bad but there's so much worse, but at what point are there not country words to string together anymore?
growing up were I did in Naperville Ill country music was not my influence . I was lucky enough to be 12 and go see the beatles in comiskey park w/gary and the pacemakers . rock & roll was my influence. I also saw a rock band by the name of ACDC w/ BON SCOTT at a nightclub called beginings in shawmburge owned by the band CHICAGO . it was pretty cool had a sunken dance floor covered w/ mirrors I have seen countless bands including the WHO W/KIETH MOON . KISS JIMI HENDRIX AMBOY DUKES W/TED NUGENT QUEEN W/FREDDY MERCURY PINK FLOYD W/ROGER WATERS BOB SEGER SILVER BULLET BAND ON AD ON , BUT ? the influence of country music was large even back then in CHICAGO . WAYLON WILLY GEORGE SRAIGHT AND JONES and folk and jazz were also big then in the 70's detroits influence came along w/Motown . so I have been lucky enough to see most all . jump up and run was the least of my influences . normal had a big influence on rock and country . to bad the American goverent and Ronald regan ruined everything for us .
