Saw him last year. Had a guy turn around and ask me why he had a song about murdering the chick from SNL.
Colter Wall Tyler Childers Stapleton Sturgill Isbell That's the current rotation. EDIT: And John Moreland if I want to be even more depressed than the other poor bastards can be.
That’s why he’s a 2nd tier artist for me. I’ll listen and like some songs but he’s not a guy I go to a lot.
Saw Brent Cobb last night, was a fantastic show. Guitars, Cadillacs was a nice surprise for a mid-set cover.
But I'll be damned if Loud and Heavy and Hippies and Cowboys don't hit me right in the chest every single time.
One that I've found myself playing quite a bit. Dark as shit, but I cant get enough of it "I laid in bed for an hour today Trying to die from natural causes In case the lord forgot to take me in my sleep"
Logged on to read the Washington Post and Margo Price is staring at me. Love that she’s getting the attention she deserves. https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...9a1d28-24cb-11e9-ad53-824486280311_story.html
Not that I give a shit about country radio these days, but those quotes from the radio guys are so fucking idiotic. “We just don’t know what to do with Margo Price.” Maybe just play her damn songs.
Speaking of Margo Price, she did an interview with Elizabeth Cook recently and said she recorded all three nights of her Ryman stint, and plans on releasing a live album and DVD from them.
Hell yes. The first night I took my 2yr old daughter to her first concert. Took the wife the 2nd night. Paper Cowboy on Sunday night
If this could somehow include Tyler Childers the night he opened I may not listen to another album the rest of the year
Two tangential thoughts: I wonder when Tyler Childers is going to release something new? He’s very Sturgill-ish, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he takes forever between records. Also, new Bingham is out Friday. I’m not encouraged based on what we’ve heard so far, but I’m holding out hope.
Half of the album will be decent and the other half pretty bad which has essentially been the norm since roadhouse sun. I’d expect something from Childers next year. Hopefully we hear a release date for Sturgill’s new album soon since it was just about finished back in September
Mike and the Moonpies are putting out two new albums this year. Not wasting any time after the success of Steak Night at the Prairie Rose.
Charles Wesley Godwin just released his first album (I think). Loved the singles I heard already, and have been looking forward to this one for a while.
I love that we all go back and forth between the two country threads and post new music. I'm guilty of it because I never know which one to use. I guess WTF thread started making fun of shitty country and evolved. /DaddyRabbitThoughts
For those that use twitter, saving country music is a good follow and he usually finds new good albums to listen to.
Anybody ever seen the documentary 'Heartworn Highways' and/or the 'revisited' version? Looks pretty good
Heartworn Highways is great. Favorite "country music" doc will always be "Be Here to Love Me" on Townes, though.
