Probably timing more than anything. They're way behind. Still awful. Lesnar only agreed to show up. Didn't agree to say anything
And that's the problem with bringing Goldberg back. Yeah everyone was jacked to hear the music and see the walk and he even cut a good promo, but no one wants to see that match. No one even remembered the first one until they needed to promote 2k17. Goldberg is and always will be a WCW guy and there are very few of us in the audience anymore who even actually remember what WCW was. Not just a Wikipedia article and a section in the WWE network library, but actually watched the Goldberg buildup (and subsequent Hogan tear down)
Yea im looking forwwrd to the match but I dont need this every other week promo rotation. Just let it sit like a UFC fight. Mention it. Maybe have a presser. But let it sit and build quietly.
That was a big part sure but even last week I was surprised at the initial reaction when he came out. I thought it would have been much bigger but it was pretty mediocre for a returning superstar. It was Goldberg's promo that really got the reaction going, not his star power. Hell there is a bunch of the crowd that's just like his son, not even alive when he was at his biggest and that was before he was even in WWE
Mick getting thrown through the table wasn't even the worst bump he took in that match. As crazy as it was, they pulled it off perfectly. It was almost a glancing blow through the table. That's not making him walk like that. The chokeslam through the cage was absolutely brutal. But I'm pretty sure it's the Cactus Jack elbow drops to the concrete floor night after night after night that's finally caught up to him. And that was a shit Raw.
That tooth coming through his nose is haunting. Wonder what Charlotte has planned for Sunday. Flair is talking up the spot like it'll be memorable.
I don't ever get this feeling, but I have a bad one about their match. Like somebody's gonna get seriously hurt.
It does have that "they're going to try something just to prove themselves rather than have a good but safe HIAC match" feel about it.
This is great: It looks like Vince McMahon wasn't thrilled with the way the Brock Lesnar return segment went on Monday night. As seen on this week's RAW, the fans in Minneapolis, Minnesota weren't exactly "following the script," as they were hell bent on cheering for Lesnar and chanting "Goldberg Sucks," when the exact opposite reaction was desired. Bryan Alvarez noted on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that McMahon reportedly "blew a gasket" backstage during the show as a result of the crowd reaction to the segment. In fact, Vince even had Lesnar's music play earlier than planned to end the segment prematurely. As Alvarez put it, the segment was supposed to go longer, but Vince "pulled the plug right in the middle of it."
Did they really think they were going to chant Goldberg in Brock's hometown? Especially after they brought out Axel to get the hometown fervor going? Fucking carnie idiots
He's actually lost a lot of weight recently. In a June he posted a photo saying he was down 68lbs in 6 months and the lightest he'd been since 1990.
I could see him being a giant slob when he isnt on TV, but his weight is tricky as he's dropped a ton of muscle too. week to week you could tell WWE was trying to hone his look (dye his beard) but he's slipping back into the homeless look.
Raw is so pointless. Nothing makes any sense or is any different. Rollins (face) steals the list... 3 min later is able to run to the back with Jericho not seeing him and give the list to Braun Strowman (heel) * Jericho vs KO seems like the main event for Toronto. Jericho as a huge baby face the crowd will be so hot. * Stupid Idiot during the breathing exercises and calling Titus the dummy brand... Jericho is great Playing up the hometown for Curtis that gets him over only to have him lose. * I actually don't hate this program. If its aimed to get Bo over you need to make his finisher over. Not a fucking roll up. Austin wasn't beating people's asses with a roll up. Putting the hometown Brock in a promo and expecting the fans to cheer for Goldberg * This was an impossible mission for Paul and it failed Mick talking the girls out of a cell match *Sasha is so scripted and terrible. Its Roman 2.0 turn her heel asap please. Rich Swann beating the number 1 contender clean before his title match * I don't understand why WWE is hitching its wagon to him as the #2 baby face in the CW. Alexander is the best CW they have. * I do like the promo backstage from Kendrick asking for TJP to lose the match on purpose. Giving the tag title match away for free and the contenders winning * A Raw filled with the same old shit * New Day is super stale at this point Rollins pins BOTH Jericho and Owens * Rollins as a tweener blows... WWE killed its chance to make him a mega baby but forcing Roman on TV. You have 3 hours and yet you ran 25 minutes over * Why is Golden Truth/Shining Stars on RAW? * Why did you waste 10 minutes on a fucking arm wrestling contest when you never built up the arm injury to Bayley? RAW is Steph... what 4 or 5 segments for her tonight?
RAW is unwatchable, I haven't watched in weeks. Ill turn it on at occasional commercial breaks and it won't be long before I stop watching. Last night I caught the Brock and Heyman promo, it was AWFUL and I love Brock and Heyman. Basically with so many PPV I am content reading the Bleacher Report recaps (and all the C to F grades per segment) to keep up on storylines and just watch the PPV on the network
only after hogan made him lay down. His streak was his gimmick and what made him popular, and his move set was fine for that; walk out, spear, jackhammer, pin. Eventually he was going to lose and whether they could transition his popularity into something without the streak to back it up is a good question, but done right it, it could have happened. However this was the height of WCW's incompatence so they let hogan's ego pin him to break the streak and any hope of him being more than a joke from that point on
In fact he more I think about it, Roman wishes he was Goldberg, he was what Roman should be. Not much talking, no forced fake sounding promos, just come out and wreck shit with power moves
Yeah, thinking back it was Nash that pinned him who then got the finger poke of death at starcade. All so hogan could get title from goldberg
Starrcade 98. Hall comes out from the crowd dressed as a security staffer. Hits Goldberg with the cattle prod when the ref was messing with Nash. Nash then hits the jackknife power bomb to take the title. Next night on Nitro comes the finger poke of doom, and the essential end of WCW. The idea behind it was to reform the nWo so that Goldberg could run through all of them, and then beat Hogan to retake the belt. What those dipshits didn't realize was that the fans were fed up with all of this bullshit. WCW would have died much sooner because of Hogan's bullshit at Starrcade 97 (the far greater injustice) if it wasn't for how fucking hot Goldberg got.
Hart comes into WCW as one of the hottest acts in all of wrestling at this time. Your great fucking idea is to have him come out and stop what was supposed to be a recreation of the Montreal Screwjob at your biggest PPV. Problem is, Hogan has told referee Nick Patrick to not fast count (like Bischoff told him to). So when Hart comes out to restart the match, everyone saw Sting get pummeled and pinned clean by Hogan. You maybe could have pulled this off had Patrick fast counted, but nope. So in effect, Hogan then embarrasses both Sting and Hart. Literally, WCW had Bret Hart and Sting, the two hottest guys in all of wrestling at the time, and Hogan can't fucking handle it. The only thing you should have happened was have Sting fucking squash Hogan. Let him take over as the top guy, and start the slow destruction of the nWo the next night on Nitro with Nash power bombing Hogan for losing. I can't stress how pissed off this whole thing still makes me. None of you should be fans of Hulk Hogan if you care about wrestling at all. He fucking ruined it.
JP Sorro on The Lapsed Fan does an excellent Hulk Impersonation complete with paranoia about guys rolling him up and taking his spot and nostalgia about his glory days.
Didn't watch Raw again last night, couldn't even read the recap on the shitter this morning without skipping half of it. Show is TNA 2010 bad.
