If you're in the US you're going to be on servers 99.99% of the time. I haven't played much since Rocket League came out on X1 but I only remember 1 game not being on a server and I have 7-8 days of play time. I was actually surprised at how well the game played for me due to the consistently low ping. The beta played like shit for me because the geolocation information their servers were using had me in a completely different state. And I don't know the fine details of the engines for each game but Battlefield (and a bunch of other games) using Frostbite 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, etc. may not be a ton different from COD games using IW 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, etc.
I assume you meant dedicated servers? I decided to dig a little more and I was pretty much correct. BO3 is the first COD to have 100% dedicated servers. CODAW (2014) did NOT have full dedicated servers but a "hybrid system based on location". BFBC2 (2008) had dedicated servers but you had to rent (pay for) them....BF3 (2011) had full dedicated servers. Even if your engine argument is true, Frostbite 1.0 came out in 2008 with BFBC2. IW 1.0 came out in 2000. Its the original Quake 3 Arena engine. Have they modified it? Absolutely. Its still the same engine though. The "owners" of COD are too big of money whores to pay for a new engine. Its basically copied and pasted now-a-days. They even said that BO3 uses the same engine as BO2 with "more advanced rendering." Overall, my point is that the COD series is neglected and behind the times. Its a money whore. Its biggest concern is pumping out a game every year NOT trying to "be the best it can be." COD4 and MW2 are two of my favorite games ever. I want the series to be good. Its just not these days. Its recycled (guns/classes/killstreak) and copied (all of Titanfall's running) shiny garbage.
Battlefield 5 to be announced/revealed on May 6th http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/04/29/battlefield-5-will-be-revealed-next-week
Doing some research on this new COD situation: 1. Holy shit. COD4 shipped with 20 (!!!!!!!!) maps. That's fucking insane. I love this game even more. 2. FUCK Call of Duty......at this point, you have to order the most expensive package to get the remastered COD4. $90. I am sure it will end up being by itself at some point blah blah blah but they are such money whores. Its absurd.
Is it possible to plug the XBox One into a Blu-Ray player? I'm at my folks house since my interwebs is down, but their TV is attached to the wall so I can't directly plug the HDMI into the TV. Can't find the cable box, but have a BDP-S790 blu-ray player with an available HDMI spot. I have plugged the XBox into both HDMI inputs, and it seems like the 2nd one is the best bet. However, I have no idea how to get that 2nd HDMI onto the TV screen. Suggestions? I've spent an hour trying to figure this out, but may just give up soon.
What are you trying to do? Play your Xbox on the tv? Is the bluray player plugged into the tv? If so unplugged the bluray and use that hdmi to plug in your X1. If nothing is plugged into the tv take the tv off the wall find the hdmi port get an hdmi cable put one end into the tv and the other end into your X1.
I was worried, but this worked swimmingly. No idea how it took me that long. I think I was trying to figure out a way to have everything operational without moving the TV or unplugging anything. Anyway,
That it wouldn't plug into the system. The HDMI was attached to a bunch of other cords and was worried the HDMI wouldn't plug into the xbox.
I can't get over the fact that your thought process included plugging the X1 into the bluray player and playing it like that instead of just unplugging the bluray player and plugging in the X1.
I mean, the solution was relatively simple, but it's not as straightforward as I'm making it out to be. They paid a shitload of money to have all of this stuff set-up with a custom touchpad remote that controls about 8 different systems. I have no idea how everything interacts with each other, and there are a lot of tightly wrapped cords going into everything. The TV is tightly secured to the wall, so that wasn't an option. I also knew that if I fucked anything up to where I couldn't figure out how to recalibrate/program it to exactly the way they wanted it, they'd have been fucking pissed, because both are extremely technically challenged. I don't know anything about setting up these interacting set-ups, so I wanted to first try the safest route, which is unplugging nothing and running it through the blu-ray. I ultimately did have to unplug all of those cords to get the XB1 working properly, and luckily remembered exactly where each of the cords went since they weren't color-coded or anything.
I will assume that since you can run your cable box through the X1 maybe you thought you could do the opposite and run the X1 through the bluray.
I wanted to use the cable box, but couldn't even find the damned thing... The only plug-in I had access to was the blu-ray.
Is anyone going to play Overwatch? Also FIFA 16 just continues to piss me off, still loving some halo 5 tho
When overwatch comes out that's all I'll be playing. The beta (which was more of a timed demo) was great. It was also a pretty big "fuck you" to battleborn.
Old article, but I'm looking for something to try and came across it today. http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/upcoming-xbox-one-games/ Have played Division (who hasn't?), but I'm curious about these other games if anyone knows more than what's in the link. Witcher 3 -- Heard Witcher series' are awesome. Is there PVP? Tropico 5 -- Anyone played this series? I see what it says, so I get that it's an island nation. I'm more curious about thoughts on it and shit like that. Is this basically sim city? Kingdom Come -- New franchise? Sounds interesting. Anyone know much about it? We Happy Few -- Looks almost like a spin on a zombie game to me. Mankind Divided -- How does that one rank among RPGs? Sea of Thieves -- Just seeing "Multiplayer" and "Pirates" makes me want to buy this one. For Honor -- Medieval and Ubisoft... I'm in Crackdown -- Open world and Multiplayer? Anyone play the previous 2? Adrift Cosmochoria -- Description sounds interesting even if single player Did I leave anything off that others are anticipating or think sound interesting?
Also... Overwatch looks awesome. How does it compare to PvZ multiplayer? (I'm more familiar with 1, don't love 2 that much). I ask, because this review makes it seem similar after 3 minutes of watching.
I definitely got the PvZ vibe from the few hours I spent playing the Overwatch beta. I enjoyed the first PvZ but I'm just not a huge fan of throwing myself at an objective for x amount of time and dying over and over depending on if you're offense or defense so I was kinda done with that by the time PvZ2 came out and since Overwatch felt similar I wasn't huge on it either. PvZ 1 or 2 and Overwatch are really well made games (everything actually works, lots of different stuff to do, unlock, etc.) but just not for me right now.
I can't remember the name of the style PvZ I do most, but it was Team Battle, first to 50. Sounds like Overwatch will have that. It's funny that he made a joke about everyone wanting to be the sniper, in PvZ1 I feel like the Cactus is not overly chosen at all. Fwiw, PvZ 2 I think was just too much for me unfortunately. I never could get totally into it, and the rounds lasted like 3 minutes which just shows the how much of a shit show it was. Maybe I'll give it another shot, but it wasn't Rose that bothered me, it was the chaos.
Sea of Thieves is by far my most anticipated game of the year. Multiplayer pirates? The world looks legit as well, and there are reports that it will be Rare's best game they've ever made. http://www.gamesradar.com/sea-thieves-player-generated-stories-will-be-best-game-rare-has-ever-made/ It looks like the way they're integrating multiplayer will be the literal shit. I'll stop... I'm going to make threads on that board for some of the games I'm curious about.
Witcher 3 - a truly amazing game. It is only single player though. For Honor - looks fucking amazing. Watch a gameplay trailer or e3 trailer. Sea of Thieves - yeah I'm in on this one as well. Curious of how it will work though. Crackdown - the first game I only bought because it got me into the Halo 3 beta back in the day. It ended up being a great game. I never played the second one but I believe it had mixed reviews. I am excited to see what they put together for the new generation of consoles.
Hopped on Destiny for a bit last night because I was bored. I'll be buying Overwatch though so I'll be on a lot more. Not as much as the Destiny days, hopefully, lol.
We're going to have to get a TMB pirate crew of which a certain Mod (spoiler it is me) shall be the captain.
Did they ever get Black Ops 1 onto the Xbox one? They were supposed to do that in the Winter. also, Fucking pumped for COD4. Probably my favorite online game of all-time. Hopefully they keep the maps and weapons as they were in the original.
