I feel like that's just how baseball is. I listened to a Podcast with Jeff Passan last year and learned the pitch clock has been around since WW2.
he came in out of the pen in the final games of both Major League I and II (and was demoted to the pen for a portion of II) but he was a starter
Just finally seeing the replays from last night and they clearly show Alonso getting his hand in there before the tag, no idea how the ump missed it live on the field.
Yeah. Someone did the time lapse of Game 6 of the 86 WS and it would be exactly like if there was a pitch clock.
watching the replay, it is clear Alonso could have touched home plate. With either a foot first slide or by actually getting his hand down. however, he never actually touched it with his hand. If the argument is that it was not "truly blocked" because he could have touched it, I guess I will entertain it. Even though I think having a foot on the plate without the ball should be a clear blocking call
Distinctively remember pointing that out when I first watched that movie and my brother “Well Ackchyually, in the playoff they used him out of the pen in a must win situation.”
If a catcher used their facemask to scoop up a ball in play it's a balk, correct? So I would have to assume using the helmet as an extension of your hand should be illegal.
my assumption is no. You can put your glove on the bag because it is where it is supposed to be (on your hand). If his helmet was touching the bag while it was on his head, sure. but holding it with his hand seems like it is not in compliance with the rules. Could mookie betts tag second base with his hat in his hand to end an inning?
Apparently the broadcast got clarification that he should have been out. Didn't matter but was curious because I don't think I've seen anything like that before.
Why can’t anyone hit the warehouse wall at Camden Yards? Apparently KGJr is the only one to do it in the HR derby and no one since? Interesting video
From Dr. Andrews in a MLB.com article about his retirement back in January: https://www.mlb.com/news/dr-james-andrews-world-renowned-orthopaedic-surgeon-retires How fucking sad is it when these A-hole sports parents won’t even listen to grandpa who’s the fucking best orthosurgeon EVER?
