Damion Lewis & Paul Giamatti. In a show about hedge funds, excessive wealth, and NYC. On a premium network, starting in 2016.
Agreed. Great cast and acting. This feels like someone watched Wolf of Wall Street and said - I should make a TV show like this. Has potential. Will watch
I enjoyed the first episode a lot, hopefully it can keep it up over the course of the season. Great cast, huge fan of both Giamatti and Lewis. I wish my name were Bobby Axelrod, really rolls off the tongue nicely.
His name was very distracting to me because I kept thinking of David Axelrod, and theyre pretty much opposite in every way.
Enjoyed it. Would have liked to have seen there be more of a build up towards the hatred these two exhibited, to establish the confrontation. But this one looks like a winner.
I didn't see anything and that was his wife. Maggie Siff, from Sons of Anarchy. Really enjoyed the premiere.
Listening to a podcast and they're discussing the Pilot. "Well, Paul Giamatti its peed on. So if you like full out water sports, this is your jam"
Who was the blonde FBI agent? She's on another show but I can't place it. Also, the killer from the first True Detective is Axelrod's attorney.
There are a lot of corny parts and 1 liners, like it though. The chairman calling out Giamatti's dad's mistress at the board meeting was pretty great.
Yeah, that's a fair assessment. Winters is incredible and I'll love him forever, it might not be the best role for him.
When she threatens that lady, or when they are havin the conversation with their children. I was as read as Lewis' hair with embarrassment
She really doesn't seem to have any redeeming qualities - personality wise. She even has a trashy tattoo on the back of her neck, such new money.
God, I don't like her character, but I've always loved her. Hopefully, it'll pick up. Almost feels like the idea of the show is too grand for whoever is directing/writing. Might need a little bit more time to find its way.
Both leads are pretty unlikeable. Giamatti's character seems like the kid that always got picked on and now enjoys getting to be the bully. Axelrod seems like a poor kid that made it big and the money has turned him into a douche with an annoying chip on his shoulder. His sniveling right hand man is overdone and his wife gives a cringeworthy performance trying to be some street tough badass. The doctor is the only character I like. The story arc is really interesting to me and I love the idea of the show, but everything else has been a big letdown so far.
"Are you sending me messages? Because I'm here." That line is so hilariously awful just like this show. I watch, and will continue to watch, every week though.
It's a fine show but it does have some cringe scenes. Like the guy blackmailing the lady saying honey you wouldn't believe what it takes to get me off... And later he is with a little person, I mean really?
She met with the Yellow King guy just to reject his ideas and have a shitty aha moment that was blackmail. Way to put it together, Malin. Sepinwall called Billions "television Stockholm syndrome" and he's absolutely right. There's just enough intrigue to keep me invested despite over-the-top acting and writing.
Damian Lewis is considered a good actor, right? I think he is, but this is the second show in a row where he feels horribly out of place to me. It kind of worked in Homeland because his character was so traumatized/fucked in the head but I just don't really buy him as a hedge fund billionaire. I do like the show though, and agree last night's episode was the best.
He is a good actor. He was great in S01 in Homeland and that would have been the lasting impression of him if the writers weren't forced to keep him alive instead of killing him as planned. The rest of homeland and this show - he is subjected to terrible and cheesy dialog. I like this show, but it's almost cartoonish. Also who the singer chick? She looks so familiar but i cant place her.
