It's going to be hard for any game to top Demon's Souls (my favorite game of all time), but i'd rank it 1. Demon's Souls 2. Bloodborne 3/4. DS 1/2 (Haven't played all of DS2, so lumping them together right now)
I was pretty much done with this game but a friend of mine bought it and started talking to me about it. So obviously I decided to watch a playthrough on YouTube because I'm terrible at the game. Turns out my biggest issues were fixable (rushing combat, terrible build). Started a new game and I'm doing infinitely better. I mean, we'll see how it goes when I get to where I was stuck before but I have high hopes this time.
So I finally beat Dark Souls 2 yesterday, I was so fucking stuck for a month to the point I would log on for an hour or two, then get pissed and log off. Took 71 total hours, level 143. I am not sure how I fucked it up so bad, but after reading yesterday because I was about to just quit and uninstall, I didn't talk to the Ancient Dragon first so killed him and wasn't sure what to do next. Beat the Throne Duo and Nashandra wouldn't spawn because I hadn't been to the Giant's memory in the tree past the King's door in the first fucking zone of the game. Fun game, looking forwards to DS3 ... Going to take a couple months off both Bloodborne and DS2 and then go back and do both Scholar of the First Sin and whatever the Bloodborne DLC is. I am From Softwared out for awhile.
So questions: Spoiler which do i do first? yahargul, cainhurst, or nightmare frontier? i mean, i assume that's where i'm supposed to be story-wise after beating rom. i'm already at logarius but he's abusing me, badly. i never beat paarl earlier in the game so maybe that? what level should i beat at post-rom?
Spoiler Logarious and Paarl are optional. Yahargul continues the story I think. Logarious was the hardest boss for me, took me at least 30 times. Nightmare Frontier is Amygdala or whatever, not sure if that is optional as well [\spoiler]
Well I guess I finally beat this shit. Moon dude hasnt died yet but that's because I want that platinum before I go to ng+.
Deleted it earlier in the week to make room for other things. It was pretty heartbreaking. Going from where my skill was when I first got to Logarius to where it was when I finally beat him was one of my greatest accomplishments as a gamer.
Planning on going back to this after I finish Ni-oh and then restart Witcher (got too busy first time around)
It should have been obvious to me a lot earlier, but its really cool how much this game was heavily influenced by lovecraft. If it were put into novel form you'd probably think Lovecraft wrote it himself.
I can’t decide if I want BB2 or not. The first one was just a great experience but I don’t think a direct sequel would serve it well. I’d take anything from soft makes though
I just need something. I'm into the idea of them taking the formula across different settings with subtle tweaks to the ideas a la Dark Souls to Bloodborne. The thing that's killing me about gaming atm is there is a blueprint for greatness within froms games that can carry over across genres and no one is really going for it... There's people trying to directly copy the formula (Nioh, Lords of the Fallen) but I think the ideas like pvp invasions, pvp themed boss battles, randomly generated dungeons that manage to yield surprises 3 years later, or just froms minimalist story telling and focus on atmosphere, exploration and combat can travel across so many genres. I feel like at this point, Souls is an RPG sub-genre own it's on and it should be further explored by more developers. Salt and sanctuary was an absolute treat to play and that was done with maybe 30 dollars and crayola markers. I did read an interview with Ken Levine where he said the game he was working on was being influenced by Souls and Borderlands amongst others.. Maybe he and Ghost Story will be the ones to really pop the lid off this thing. Couldn't really ask for a better team to do it if it's not gonna be from
I would love a demons 2, but you have to beat demons 1 first. Then the broken archstone is fixed and you play 2.
okay just bought a PS4 (FINALLY) and picked up Skyrim and Bloodborne also need Fallout IV, Arkham Knight, The Last of Us Remastered and Dark Souls III what else should I get as someone who loves the Skyrim/Dark Souls/BioShock/Fallout type games?
Horizon Zero Dawn, Nier Automata, Nioh, Monster Hunter World, The Witcher 3 (absolute must going by your interest), Dragon Age Inquisition.. make sure you get the DLC for both Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne. The Old Hunters for Bloodborne is an all time add on. Dark Souls remastered in may. If you play online add me itzSobuh. I'm always down to co-op Souls. I'm jealous that you're playing BB for the first time. Beautiful game, have fun
user TrustyPatches i know you already have it, but BB is going to be one of the PS Plus games for March.
Picked this back up to get platinum being that I have only one trophy left to get. Amyghdala in the defiled chalice is maybe the hardest boss I’ve ever faced and it’s only layer two (of five) boss
She was absolutely nothing to me in vanilla but the half health they give you in defiled, the three weak points on amygdalah and the fact that in her second phase she one shots you makes it a very meticulous fight. It’s basically bating her into one move, closing the gap and hitting her once MAYBE twice in that opening. I fought her for nearly 10 minutes earlier and got her just below a quarter health before she caught me and broke my heart
That fight really sucked. But I sure as shit had to actually learn the right way and now it's not as bad.
Yeah as you said, you need to wait till the head is available, hit the head probably only once for safety and then back out to dodge the next attack. Anything else is too risky.
