Honestly I don't even follow MLS or USMNT even a little bit so I had no idea they were coming back. Thanks.

It looks like Pato is going to Chelsea. That just seems like it will be an unhappy marriage. Especially if Abramovich has a daughter that he could fall in love with.

    lol Chelsea

Pato has been offered to every club under the sun. I'm sure he will be what changes their fortune in the 2nd half.

Yeah we've opted not to go for him I believe, and it is hard to see him staying at West Brom much longer.

Arsenal have signed Ben Wrigglesworth from Leicester. He is a scout.

6 months ago Berahino himself said he'd never play for West Brom again and that lasted for about a week.

He's the odd player who isn't good enough to be the main striker at a big club but too much of a prima donna to accept a backup role.

In the end West Brom have really just fucked themselves. His value is dropping by the minute and they've gotten nothing out of him performance wise this season. Pulis is so ready for him to be shipped out.

I remember a year ago that huge Liverpool homer on ESPNFC saying that Berahino was definitely a better player than Lukaku. Maybe he was referring to Romelu's younger brother Jordan.

That's what I was thinking too. They messed up and gave him a big contract, so why not just take any kind of decent money you can to get him off the books.

I'm just waiting for 'Newcastle agrees to 14mil deal for Townsend' headlines. If we sign Berahino, I'll be a happy mother fucker regardless of the Townsend deal

It is pretty horrible. I really thought a lot more of France would be poached. Not that it's exciting per se, just easy pickings at this point.

a goal every 3 games in the Brazilian league will clearly lead to success in the EPL. Why go for a proven striker like Charlie Austin for £4m when we can get someone who is a proven poor striker for triple the amount? Very easy to question every move Chelsea has made in the last 12 months and wonder who is making these decisions.

In about 5 years or so, the Chinese league is going to be pretty much a giant Shakhtar Donetsk. China is taking pretty much all the young Brazilian talent out of Brazil. The future of the Brazilian league looks to be rather bleak.

It's not exactly a glowing endorsement that he couldn't get in the Brazil World Cup squad that might have had one of the weakest collections of "number 9's" in the entire tournament.

Scores a goal every 3 games in the Brazilian league which is probably in the 8-10 range of strongest leagues in the world and not close to the EPL. Hasn't had a good season since 2010. Has a long injury list. And who the fuck who wants a striker who says himself that he doesn't see himself as a #9. Is there really any doubt he will flop horrifically in the EPL?

More likely jozy altidore get signed by someone and starts scoring premier league goals

Crazy how much things can change in a few years. Neymar would've been sold a lot earlier if Brazil's economy was hurting like it is now right?

Going straight from what is probably the least physical league to the most physical league doesn't seem like a good idea. Brazilian league soccer is pretty much unwatchable because it's just constant free kicks.

There's no telling with that transfer. It has to be one of the sketchiest of all time. Neymar had to appear in court in Spain like a month ago to testify in a court case regarding his transfer. Apparently Barca had to pay a whole lot more than what was reported.

Yeah but plenty of clubs were interested, even if it only would've been a year or two before. Chelsea offered £20 million in 2010(I'm sure offers went up after that), but I know people wanted him to stay in Brazil through the World Cup.

I just remember reading something years ago(when their economy was growing like crazy) that said Brazilian clubs could now hold onto players longer, now you see them selling asap.

I'm pretty sure Neymar's people (owners) didn't want him leaving until he was finished growing. If he would have gotten off to a bad start, his career may have gone the way of Robinho's.

I disagree. He's worth the gamble. To quote Andy Gray in Fifa 10, "form is temporary, class is permanent".

    Also I'd prefer a forward who doesn't seem themselves as a #9.

The Townsend saga may hopefully be close to an end, seeing reports of a 9 or 10m pound deal close to being finalized. Take the money and fucking run, Levy. He isn't getting any time here as it is.

Of course as soon as I type this an article appears saying it isn't going to happen. Gotta love the window.

Nothing to do with this window, but I found this kind of funny. It was widely assumed the Bale deal was the most expensive (legal)transfer ever, but a recently leaked document shows the lengths Madrid went to try and conceal that fact - all in the interest of not damaging Crissy's massive ego. Madrid announced a price less than the Ronaldo deal when in reality Bale cost more, and wrote into the language of the contract that Tottenham weren't to mention any financial details of the deal in public, lmbo.

    http://www.espnfc.us/story/2791100/gareth-bale-cost-real-madrid-more-than-cristiano-ronaldo

The full financial details of Gareth Bale's move to Real Madrid from Tottenham have been leaked, with the player appearing to have cost the Spanish club more than Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to the leaked transfer agreement, the fee for Wales international Bale was €91 million (£78m). That is less than the €96m Real paid for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009 but, because the fee was to be paid in instalments, the final sum rises to a world-record €100.7m (£85.1m).

The document also shows that it was agreed Real Madrid would announce the fee as £78m and that Tottenham would not refer to the "economic aspects" of the transfer deal.

Real Madrid have always been at pains to say that Ronaldo is the most expensive player at the club.

The document also specifies that Madrid undertook to ensure that Bale would not make "any negative or derogatory comments regarding Tottenham, the club's chairman, its board and/or any of its employees."

Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, has demanded an investigation into the leaked documents, telling the Daily Telegraph: "There should be an inquiry and an independent investigation because it's outrageous. There also needs to be an apology from the Football Association to the clubs and the player.

"I think it's disgraceful that people can get hold of this sort of stuff. It shows complete disregard for both clubs and the player."

The Press Association, however, reports that that Bale's agent is relaxed about the transfer agreement being in public domain as it contains no details about salary or other personal information.

The 26-year-old signed a six-year contract when he moved to the Bernabeu in 2013.

Yeah, it's inflation combined with the world market at the time. Ronald's probably been beat a solid 5-10 times now, just not at RM. We can get some RavenNole up in here for some post housing market crisis currency analysis on a global scale. Side note, love the Raven Rants despite the cheapy. Side note to a side note. I hope we fucking rape you right in the anus Sunday.

You are long overdue to take Chelsea to the woodshed. Arsene's domination over Jose in the mind game department didn't translate to the actual game department. Some of that has to do with horrendous officiating but I'd expect you guys to go all out in an attempt to humiliate Chelsea Sunday.

I doubt Gareth would have had anything negative to say about his time at Tottenham, except for possibly Levy. He drew out negotiations but when you are dealing with a transfer of that magnitude it is to be expected. He wanted to maximize profits, which he did. It isn't like supporters chased his car through the streets and threw shit at him when he went a few matches without scoring while he was here.

Sounds like Ramires to some Chinese team for a fee of £20-25m and apparently personal terms that would be too good to pass up. Some love Ramires (mourinho and ancelotti are both big fans) but we need all we can get to rebuild the squad. Seems like a win-win.
