Yes. Bit big issue is the detachable ash pan on the bottom. Metal rim is straight rust. Akin to totaling a car, do I sink $100 into a $300 kamado or just get another. Gaskits need replacing in addition to rust issues.,
One Two I have an acct that will drop ship you a new primo if that's what you want to do. I did that for someone on here a few years ago, but don't recall who it was.
Taques United groceries in the goat college town has briskets on sale for $1.77/lb How much they cost in the frozen tundra where you live now?
last time i checked it was infinity dollars per pound and only for the flat because jews dont eat the point apparently
LOLOLOLOL to the poster who thinks they won't like Conecuh. Literally NO ONE doesn't love it. It's the best smoked sausage, period. I say this as someone who lives in Alabama, is married to an Alabamian, and takes every chance possible to give her a hard time about everything about this state. Order a 1/2 ton, because you'll eat it all.
So for the Super Bowl I agreed to making ribs to bring over to my Brother In Laws place that is about a half hour drive away (and we will probably go over there early). What is the best way to make this happen? Should I just make normally, wrap in foil and put in the fridge and heat up in the oven when we get there? How long will ribs retain heat when wrapped in foil? I could smoke the ribs either Saturday or Sunday technically. I am considering scrapping the idea and making a butt instead because I could pull that off the smoker hours in advance and just put in a cooler.
I personally prefer Opa's, but it's a little bit different style of smoked sausage than Conecuh. I love Conecuh though, and am #blessed to have both stocked at my local grocery store. http://www.opassmokedmeats.com/shop/category/sausage
Technically it was for my brother (who took fucking forever to reimburse me for a gift for ZZ) but it's amazing. My dad liked it so much he bought one for himself. Very versatile, consistent temps, cool accessories, etc.
you should be good cooking them on sunday, wrapping them and throwing them in a cooler. i've kept ribs like that for >1 hr and they were just fine.
Primo does make an oval shaped ceramic grill that's pretty sweet. Their grills are also manufactured in the USA vs China for BGE. Their customer service is excellent and very responsive to any issues you have.
Except it isnt. I buy refractory materials from all over the world and Mexico by far has the least reliable product.
I can give you all the info you need on bge or primo with where & how they're made. Both are ceramic & good
me: "hey run by the butcher and get a butt, like the ones we've had before, 4-5lb bone in etc" her: "ok!" ...... someone tell me what the fuck i am supposed to do. because there is no way im waking up at 2 fucking a.m. on superbowl sunday to cook this beast. dblplay1212 can i cut this in half? straight down the middle?
in any particular way? i was thinking just 50/50 it also, as a point of ignorance, is this just a giant ass hog? or does this include both the shoulder and the picnic?
i know, its a local butcher shop, they've been good to us in the past so she always likes going there when i'd rather just get my butts at the pig for 1.49 on sale they do generally have better prices on stuff like jumbo chicken wings (dozen for 8) and baby backs (slab for ~12)
Good to you how? Like they've charged you normal prices instead of that ridiculousness? I'm cool with the local butcher but I'm not paying double for stuff like pork butts
that's just a regular sized pork shoulder, it looks like. but man, the fuck you doing spending that much on pork butt?? i don't care if you like the local butcher or not, that's a rip off.
Yea you can cut it in half and make two different kinds. Maybe pull one and slice one? Just a thought. They won't cook twice as fast when cut in half but they'll cook much quicker than one massive cut.
Call your butcher and explain. Have him run it through the saw. Cook one, freeze one. At that price, it's the least he can do.
fucking hate the New York Butcher Shoppe when it comes to shit like that. Charging over twice the national avg per pound for meat that is no different than Walmart/Kroger/etc
I normally get twin packs that have 2 ~10# butts, it's always weirded me out that some of you guys get those tiny things.
I certainly see the appeal. Just not common around here. laxjoe and I go to the same farm market a lot and the name of the game is big and cheap.
now that is a legit surprise to me. I've never personally bought a large piece of meat from there so I guess it shouldn't. I probably just romanticize that place a little too much.
Still my go to for steaks, burgers, sausages, etc. But they mark big cuts way up. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm afraid they're going to be out of business soon.
