I wouldn't be heartbroken if we were to drop out this round, but it is a slippery slope when you start asking the team to care more about some matches than others. The mentality all season has been to play every game as hard as you can and try to win, regardless of the competition.
Looks to be quite the b-day haul for Eriksen. A match winning goal, 3 points, and a raise in pay. Reportedly agreeing to a 5 year deal, which is huge as he only had 2 years to run on his current one. It will keep him tied down until 2021, wages up to 80k a week from 60k. http://www.footballinsider247.com/revealed-tottenham-seal-22-9million-deal/
Walker is a beast when he has it going. He was lights out the beginning of this season. He is asked to do a lot. Getting up and down the field is not easy. Not one of his best days today.
I think Walker fell into the trap that Assou-Ekotto did in that there was no real competition for his spot. With Trippier this year, I think it's clear that Walker has stepped it up a notch, but today clearly wasn't his best day. And I think that final 30 minutes today was the longest of my life.
Obviously the players and poch are going to try to win. But if we play a team of backups and youngsters in both legs I would hope fiorentina could/would beat us.
I do like most of you, it's all in fun although I'm gonna be pretty damn pissed at Wenger if he can't win it this season. Honestly think you've been the best team so far this year, today was a very fortunate result for you guys but it happens. Think we have an overall better squad but aren't playing all that well.
i think in any successful season, there has to be a bit of luck (though this penalty call was a pretty extreme case of that) we're also pretty fortunate that wimmer seems to be the real deal and can cover vertonghen almost seamlessly
You have bigger names in your squad, sure, but that doesn't always equate to quality. Our defense is the best in the league, that should help keep us in the race until the end. We have yet to allow more than 2 goals in any league match, and all of our losses have been by a single goal. That is consistency. If Kos is out for any period of time you will be in trouble.
Good scouting and coaching is the reason why Wimmmer has been able to slot straight in, it has happened across the squad in multiple positions this season. We have 2 sets of fullbacks that always manage to get the job done and can slot in different midfield combinations without a significant drop off. We have genuine depth for once, apart from striker which is an unknown because Harry is a work horse.
Lloris picked up a shoulder injury in that last attempt in the City match at the weekend, he will miss the next 2 fixtures. Poch seems to be fairly positive in that he will be available in time for our next league matchup.
John McDermott promoted to head of coaching and development, he's now in charge of all the youth teams and will have input regarding first team call ups and areas we may need to recruit at for the future. Manchester United were sniffing around him for the same position, which has now been filled by Nicky Butt. I love our commitment to the academy. http://hotspurhq.com/2016/02/16/tottenhams-pochettino-hands-john-mcdermott-bigger-role/
Onomah and CCV will be in the squad today, I'd imagine Onomah may get a start and CCV will be on the bench.
Anyone looking to kill some time might want to check out the Paul Gascoigne film. I've learned a lot of things I previously hadn't known, what a character and a ridiculously talented player. Worth a watch, IMO.
Interesting lineup. No Dier or Dembele in the starting lineup, but Bentaleb didn't even make the trip.
Well, didn't watch it, but an away goal and all we need is a 0-0 draw or better. Don't care either way, focused on the league and FA Cup moreso than a second-tier trophy that would gain us nothing since we're already pretty much qualified for Champions League.
Believe he punched someone that night and also had a cocaine habit. Pretty much acted like Ace Boogie
As far as today the result is a pretty good one, Fiorentina are a solid squad. I wish we'd have given some more of the fringe players a shot, but it seems that Mo really does want to challenge on all fronts. If that is the case then I'm on board with his decisions.
We are being linked with highly rated midfield prospect Youri Tielemans from Anderlecht. Targeting a 15m pound move in the summer for the 18 year old, one of the hottest prospects in Europe. http://www.gibfootballshow.co.uk/20...15m-move-for-pochettinos-favorite-midfielder/
