I started thinking...I think this is the first 2+ inch snowfall since Thanksgiving week. At least in the northern burbs.
The response I get when I tell people I'm from Saginaw is 'wow I went on a vacation there, I loved it' ..nope, you've got the wrong place
Pretty much! I'm still 3 years removed from full time over there, but I think the money is pushing out a little west/south. EGR triangle isn't going anywhere, they are putting up so much stuff on the 6 corridor, can't even keep track of it anymore. Southside of downtown still a mess, but some decent stuff is going up there now, basically because everywhere else is out of room. Can pretty much take Jesus Saves and push it all the way to the lake, but I think Zeeland/Hudsonville sells beer on Sundays finally. Feel the zeel! Somehow Holland is getting the first Chick-Fil-A of Michigan off 31 in the old Perkins building.
Sick as fuck and it turns out with this snow it wasn't a bad day to take a sick day, imagine roads gonna suck rush hour
Was shitty this morning. Wondering what's going to happen in terms of this afternoon - it probably won't get cold enough to freeze the melting snow on the ground but it could still snow another half a foot.
Was just out in the Brighton area, not awful. As long as the temperature doesn't drop, they won't be too bad. Just a ton of slush and everyone is out of practice driving in this shit.
My dodge challenger doesn't enjoy this weather. I'm hoping Oakland u has a snow day tomorrow, my gf works there, so I can use her suv to take to work tomorrow.
It seems like it is going to snow all day, but nothing extremely heavy unless you get north of M-59. Like 4" between now and 8pm, and then another 1.5" overnight.
That July 16 date looks attractive. The 4th of July weekend is going to be crazytown up there with the 4th on a Monday and Cherry Festival from the 2nd through the 9th. We're getting that Friday and Monday off, and I'll realistically go up Thursday afternoon and come back Tuesday morning.
It's just been relentless all day. Alfred cleared the driveway around noon and by 1 you couldn't even tell he did it
Where's everyone live/from? Curious because it seems like Chicago boasts more Michigan posters than Michigan. Raised in Ann Arbor, still in Kalamazoo finishing school for now. We already have about 3 inches on the ground.
Launch is at the north side of Boardman Lake in Traverse City down into the river, would be pretty leisurely as far as kayaking effort goes. http://paddleforpints.com/
My friends do this every year. I'm probably going to fly in for it this year. All of you UofM guys should tell me which ones you're going to so that I can be sure to not pick that weekend. Spoiler jk. Most of my friends back home are the UofM fan type
Whole month of July is a zoo. Love TC up to early June and then back again at the end of August, but I try and stick to the peninsula during prime fudgie season. Even up there has gotten crazy crowded. I'm probably going to try and spend more time in Harbor Springs this year.
Born in Grand Rapids (pretty much), spent at least 3 years living in GR, East Lansing, Ann Arbor, Traverse City and Holland over the years. Out of those 5, Holland sucks bad and too old for East Lansing now, I'd place Grand Rapids slightly above Ann Arbor (if you don't have an interest UM sports), mainly because the people aren't as friendly on the average. Traverse City/Leelanau is awesome and it's much better now, but when I lived there, the town basically shut down from October-May, some people can't deal with that.
