Pretzel necklace is a must. Without them, all the beers tend to blend together as the nights goes on.
Reppin downtown GR for the last 4 years and counting now. When do we get to get in a fight about ES vs. WS?
It was on the calendar, but we got invited to a thing in Chicago so we're going there for the weekend instead. Weekends in Chicago seem like a very Michigan thing to do.
Been to the Waldron yet? Cza Oh hey, in case you didn't know they closed that shithole McFaddens and Montes (again haha)
Not surprised on McFaddens, actually am on Montes. New Holland Brewing company is going in right across the street. I bet those fucking twins sold it to someone, no way they would outright close it with that amount of business coming back to bridge street.
Pretty sure they're just rebranding the location as something else but it's iteration as montes closed a couple months ago iirc. The Bridge area is blowing up for sure.
Just read they are bringing it back as a restaurant. Should probably just brand it as another Rockwells at this point, at least O'Toole's is still up and going. I don't even want to think about the amount of money I dropped in that place. At least 4 nights a week for the better part of 5 years.
Yeah, Montes/Estabilishment/whatever you want to call it needs to have food. GR needs some decent places to watch games downtown to compete with Peppinos.
FYI - I checked in with my friends that do this every summer. It sold out in two hours and they didn't even get their tickets.
Or what? Sorry, kid. I get forced to go there for work a lot. It's a good city, in that it's not Detroit.
Seems like it. I know they struggled to get tickets last year. I guess if you want to go you should check on it sooner rather than later Edit: Or maybe that's just their way of making sure I don't show up!
Dates: THE ONLY DATES STILL AVAILABLE ARE LISTED BELOW. ALL OTHER 2016 DATES ARE SOLD OUT Wednesday, July 13 Wednesday, July 27 (TC Film Festival) Saturday, October 8 (Fall Tour)
Just call your local alley, odds are they have a ton of shitty used ones they're willing to part with for cheap. My buddy has a set, and I'm going to con my dad into making me an ND board set, and an ND bags set.
Yeah, I can handle the board build, looks simple. Good call on the pins, 25 for a set on ebay with an additional 35 shipping, lol. Another addition to the neighborhood on gameday.
For sure, my dad loves wood working and shit like that, so he'll be all in, plus he's a perfectionist and I don't have the time to build them myself lol.
I flew into DTW on Wednesday around 2. Was supposed to fly to GR. Flight canceled, no confirmed spots until the next night. So I drove from Detroit to GR, then GR home after returning the rental car. All in, a 220 mile trip during which I averaged about 35 mph. Still not mad, though, because I get to live in the best state in the union.
The only issues with fowling are that a) it is harder than you'd thing, b) the boards are pretty big, and c) your arm is dead the next day. Otherwise, great game.
Nah, I know where to go. There's some great parts/places. But the bad parts outweigh them. Easily the worst city north of Mexico.
Objectively and subjectively false. Not even the worst city in Michigan. Also, Detroit > Cleveland any day. Actually, outside of Columbus, Detroit > ________, OH
lol please, by all means... name some major cities that are worse than Detroit. I'll hang up and listen.
Same neighborhood. Yes. I'd throw Memphis in there too. But still not really that close. I've always said St. Louis is Detroit with better PR.
That's not true. Between the automobile industry and music, Detroit has made a big impact on the country, which is why its decline is fascinating to many. There wouldn't nearly be as many stories and photo essays about the current state of the city if it didn't have an illustrious heyday at one point. And yes, I realize you're just in here to be an irritant, but I'm sober, bored and not ready to sleep yet.
I kind of enjoy his flop-sweaty try-so-hardishness. I don't mind if he gets a bite now and then. If it goes on and on it does tend to get annoying though, which is his goal.
