guys, we're meeting up at Rabid 's house after the game to watch the EMAW/pokes game and discuss lunch pails and stuff. i should be properly saturday drunk by then so it will be a nice relaxing rager.
Spring Training is nigh. Or upon us already. Or whatever. Sure do wish they woulda got some bullpen help When does Berrios come up? Has anyone heard if he could start in the pen? Not feeling good about Sano as an OF. Also puts presh on young old Plouffe to replicate/improve upon last year. His season was sneaky good, but I just wish we could have Sano there. Obv it's hard to formulate an opinion on BH Park yet. Is Duffey gonna be for real? The whole Mauer business. I'll always be a Mauersie fan, but... I dunno. Blurred vision. Hard to say. Hit .300, and he could go back to Hometown Hero pretty fast. I've exhausted my hot takes. They were tepid at best. Hope the season goes well and we can get this thread going again.
I looked in the last few pages and saw you'd posted. I didn't bother to read the posts' content. NOW SEE YOUR WAY OUT, SIR.
I thought Plouffe has/had played in the OF before, why wouldn't they have him out there and keep Sano at 3B? I watched the game last night and got pretty excited for baseball (regular season) to start
Because we're going to kick your ass this year. Spoiler Not really, but we can dream. Spoiler Fuck Detroit.
This is going back a few years but IIRC he was a SS in the minors and was projected to play there but he wasn't consistent enough. He had a bat that would play at the MLB level so they tried copying what they had done with Cuddyer (who couldn't stick in the IF) and moving him around until they found a position. Plouffe didn't really start hitting like they expected he would until he settled in to 3B and he has been a capable fielder there.
Makes sense. Either way I am excited to see the lineup this year and what I hope is a good rotation. As long as the bullpen can hold up and starters perform like they should we will be in good shape. Berrios hopefully up by late May or June will be great
looking forward to when the royals come to town and i can ride the train to the stadium again. Spoiler
Wish we could daggum embed tweets anymore. Cuss words. https://twitter.com/parkerhageman/status/710277374315667456
After seeing this, a big part of me wants Park to just go full Korean League celebrating when he hits his first home run, just to see Molitor's reaction.
I can't stop watching that fine. They all have such clear enunciation. Making me feel like the champion lip-reader up in here.
Hey Minnesota neighbors, i'm moving to dowtown minneapolis for a potential job. What can you tell me about restaurants, parks, bars, places to avoid and this catwalk system that you people call a skyway. Thanks, go cats.
Are you talking about moving your place of residence and therefore asking about neighborhoods or just moving your place of work and looking for places to hang out? HH: The Local is my preferred spot. Brit's patio is great in the summer. Crave Patio can be good too but I'm 35 and no fun anymore so that might not be true anymore. Restaurants: Are you talking for lunch or dinner? The North Loop is the epicenter of chef driven restaurants (Bar La Grassa, Spoon & Stable, Bachelor Farmer, etc). 112 Eatery & Saffron just off First Ave and Butcher and the Boar at 12th & Hennepin are also stand outs. Manny's is the place for steak (although Capital Grille is good too). None of those I mentioned are cheap. Key's & Hell's Kitchen have great breakfast. For lunch, as we get in to summer: Marquette Ave has a crapload of food trucks. Parks: Mississippi River area, both sides. Loring Park between DT & UT. Avoid: Aqua, Epic. Brothers unless you are looking for 19 year olds (true story: I once went there for happy hour and a girl two tables away got taken away on a stretcher for alcohol poisoning because she was passed out and unresponsive. At 5 o'clock).
No, im moving to 222 hennepin for minneapolis fire and was just inquiring about the area. What is DT and UT. I think im close to north loop, but i have no idea where anything is downtown.
DT=Downtown, UT=Uptown. It was just me not wanting to type it out. That is a great location. I lived just across Hennepin Ave bridge for about 8 years. Yes, you're at the edge of North Loop. Red Cow is a good restaurant on the back side of your building. Great craft beer selection and delicious burgers. For the rest of North Loop just follow it up Washington toward North Minneapolis. The good stuff is primarily along Wash Ave or 1st St N. Black Sheep Pizza is worth checking out. The best beer store in your area is going to be across the river at Surdyk's at Henn & University Ave NE although Whole Foods has stuff too. There is lots of stuff along Henn & First Ave too. They tend to be more at night/late night hangouts. Nicollet Mall area has more of the HH stuff and a little older (business oriented) crowd. Just across the river in St. Anthony Main area has nice patios in the summer too.
I can't be of much help for downtown. Even in my 20s I was more of an uptown guy. Now I'm a 36 year-old northeaster and spend most of my bargoing dollars at taprooms. Here's my favorite northeast taprooms in order of preference: Indeed Dangerous Man Fair State Bauhaus Insight 612 Brew
I originally was going to move to flux, but it seemed like a giant frat star house, plus uptown appears to be full of hipster buttholes, and i would just really resent having to save those people. Thanks for the insight, Zack Zedalis , im just excited to be able to learn the downtown area and stuff and things and such
If you could get my beer out within a month of purchase moving forward it would really help guarantee I drink it before my death. Thanks!
I lived in the North Loop area(?) by Target Field for a year and loved it. Was close to a lot of bars and downtown/uptown or anywhere you wanted to go.
Side note. Wok in the park in st louis park is awesome and you should all eat there everynight thanks go royals
Win number one of 87 coming today! Chances are I will reflect on that win total and say to myself, Kent Pavelka, you're a goddamn genius.
So we're either gonna lose or have a walk off win it seems? Gonna be a frustratingly interesting season Lets go Berrios
Well this is unfolding nicely. I guess I really didn't realize how young Berrios is, considering how pissed we were already last year that they didn't call him up in September. Also, the Sano-Park-Arcia triumvirate is getting good. Wondering if they'll rue not trying to get an arm for Plouffe in the offseason.
After reading a headline in the Strib, I just realized it is May 24 and there isn't a single Twins starting pitcher with 2 W's. From what I can tell, the starters are 5-22 in decisions.
