Guys, that was the best half we've played in two years and we don't even have our Benny. Peter, 4-3-3 never again, please please please.
Been disappointed with Chance's D this year, esp his pace but God that assist in the second goal and that through ball to out Dom in when they called him "offsides". Very impressive.
the first half was great. that 2nd goal From what I saw and heard about the 2nd half, it was pretty awful
We just sat on the ball to assure 3 points. Like running it up the gut 3 times in a row each possession when up 20 in the 4th quarter.
Makes sense. I'm happy because 3 points is 3 points, but I'd like to have seen us try and get a few more goals, try and build some confidence/chemistry.
Yeah, was hoping Dom would get his third to get his confidence up even higher. I'm really excited to see that formation with Benny and Davis/Mapp instead of Quintilla and Hallisey. It could be pretty legit.
I don't mind Quintilla from what I've seen of him, but obviously Benny is taking his spot when he returns. Hoping we stay with the 4231 and let Benny have freedom to roam
Him and Hallisey both have the skill set but lack that final ball/quality. Jordi is far more advanced than Hallisey right now but the formation of the 4-2-3-1 at full strength is legit: -------Roger-----Sony--------- --Zusi-----Benny-----Davis-- ------------Dom-------------- Davis/Mapp whoever starts the other subs at the 60th imo. Also I wouldn't mind seeing: ------------Sony------------ ---Zusi-------------Roger-- -----------Benny----------- -----Rubio-------Dom----- If Rubio is legit or if we're chasing a goal.
We looked roughly 100% more technical tonight than at any point a year ago. Color me super excited about this new-look strategy.
zusi had some sweet flashes of the zus from a few years ago. loved hearing the crowd via tv tubes. Wish i could go back to a game this year.
Woof. Could have lost that 4-0. Probably should have. Coelho was awful. On a bright note, Chance looks like a completely different player this year to me. In a good way.
Hate RSL so much. Even though their final ball was shit all night Chance/Davis looked better than the Dia/Zusi combo but we need to be switching sides with Davis and Zusi at least once per half. I swear Dom could be fucking offsides on a throw in somehow. So infuriating he still makes those dumbass mistakes. I don't fault Nuno for anything, he was trying to play both CB positions covering for the retarded stone footed midget next to him.
I'm starting to worry about Musivar. His performances have not been great overall. Hopefully getting Roger and Benny in next to him will step his game up.
Add Davis and Mustivar to the list off injured players.... Besler - concussion Ike - hamstring Davis - concussion Mustivar - ???? Mapp - toe
What's more infuriating? Ellis' play or the fact Bukatey calls him Dom 90% of the time? They play on opposite sides of field, it's not that hard.
Dom, how are you constantly offside? Also, your hair is bad and you should feel bad. I know syd is all busted up now but have some respect man.
Ike is so fricking good. Cool that we have a defender of the year out with injury but our CB combo is still one of the tops in the league. Nuno is another amazing Vermes find.
He did good the second half. We were a sieve until the Ellis injury. Luckily Tim was in best 11 form. I saw on Twitter Ike had the highest number of combined interception+tackles+clearances by any player in mls this season (and he did that all in 1 half). Also Zusis 80 yard run from winning the ball in the defensive third, releasing to Dom, only to get in behind the D to cross a sitter for Bennys first goal was filthy. He's the pre-WC player he used to be.
Ellis getting hurt may save the early part of the season, but we'll need cover for besler during copa America so if he's out long we better start looking for a replacement.
Hell im just hoping he's back to 100% by then. MLS still hasn't cleared him to start training. Just hoping it's not like Sinovics concussion last year. Olum can slide back to CB in an emergency. I'd like to see him and Ellis switch for a match because I think Ellis could be a pretty decent CDM in an emergency.
Besler got cleared this morning and Davis was getting tested this afternoon but sounds like he should be good too. Myers was just cramping Saturday but they're doing a precautionary MRI today to make sure that's what is was for sure. Ellis sounds like a goner, torn groin. Haven't seen anything on Mustivar and no clue about Mapp.
