You were there, comrade. The rest is just details. Almost did consider getting cheaper tickets. Me and ace were p upset when viagogo tacked on 500 dollars in booking fees when I was asked to confirm the purchase at the end.
How do people in Barcelona afford to go to these games? Tickets are like $300+ a piece in the 3rd level right now for the game vs. Espanyol in May.
Basically individual tickets are entirely meant to rip off the tourists to the benefit of the members. You can get season tix as a member for way less than the price of a single Barca v Real ticket.
Especially with the product that Real is trotting out right now. If it were say, Barca vs. Tottenham, the exorbitant prices may be justified.
Already Europe's largest stadium, the Camp Nou is set to get even bigger. FC Barcelona By Ryan RosenblattFOX SoccerMar 8, 2016 at 4:54p ET Barcelona will undertake an extensive renovation to the Camp Nou that will expand capacity of the famed stadium to roughly 105,000 as part of their continued attempts to keep pace with the big money flying around world soccer. The plan has been in the works for nearly a decade, but the club have finally given the go-ahead on the design and construction, having hired an achitecture firm and chosen a design for the ground. The Catalan club first proposed an expansion and renovation to the 99,354-seat ground in 2007 and a design with a $275 million was chosen, however the economic collapse put that work on hold. When Barcelona revived their interest in changes to the Camp Nou they also considered building a new stadium, but that was later dismissed and they decided to focus on a renovation. In addition to an expanded capacity, the new stadium will have a roof covering all of the seats, new concourses and a completely redesigned exterior. The plan is to have all of the work completed by 2021, with more details to be released in the coming months. Barcelona have been working to increase the club's revenue for years. Their formerly plain shirt, considered sacred space even as the rest of the world's clubs had long been featuring sponsors, was changed in 2006 to feature UNICEF, as part of a goodwill gesture to support the organization. By 2011 the club began putting the Qatar Foundation on the front of the kit, and ever since 2013 Qatar Airways has been their shirt sponsor in a lucrative deal for the club. In recent months, club president Josep Bartomeu has spoken publicly about the Premier League's new TV deal that will net English teams many more millions in revenue and how it will make things more difficult on Barcelona. He highlighted the need to increase revenue at the club to remain competitive, and the stadium renovation should do that. Not only will capacity increase, resulting in more ticket sales, but the premium seating and sponsorship opportunites should also improve. Nikken Sekkei, along with Joan Pascual-Ramon Ausio Arquitectes, will design the stadium. Their selection comes after a long process that saw dozens of firms bid for the job. Barcelona are also planning a renovation to their basketball arena.
Why? Don't they hardly sell out as it is? Unless they're adding a lot more suites how does expanding the nosebleeds generate enough revenue to justify spending $500M+ when the added seats will only be filled a handful of times per year?
Accidentally posted it in la liga thread. Who do we want next? I kinda want to hopefully end Real's final four run
Pep Guardiola: Johan Cruyff painted the chapel, and Barcelona coaches since merely restore or improve it.
Awful day. Had heard nothing about how he was doing since his diagnosis. Fucking cancer. Makes that the PK from Messi to Suarez a monument Cruyff in his final days.
Such a great article http://www.espnfc.com/blog/espn-fc-...ruyff-meant-to-barcelona-goes-beyond-football It's hard, now, to understand that, when Cruyff furiously rejected Ajax's deal to sell him to Real Madrid behind his back and pushed through a 1973 move to Barcelona in order to spite both this clubs, he was moving to an area of Spain where the fascist dictator General Franco still ruled. Laporta once told me that it felt like the Thunderbirds, Elvis Presley and George Best all rolled into one had come to rescue all of Catalunya from Franco. A proud, but cowed, Catalan "nation" suddenly found that the world's best footballer of the day not only knew where they were and was attracted by them, but wanted to lead the revolution. In social and sporting terms there was a sonic boom. And, Laporta told me, it wasn't simply that Cruyff came to Catalunya, it was that Cruyff and Barcelona marched all around Spain and Europe together for the next few years. Just as the 1992 Olympics would totally revitalise -- even reinvent -- the modern Barcelona, so Cruyff's arrival had felt to many like a great Crusader was suddenly with them in their search for the Holy Grail: self-pride and self-determination. Democracy. Think if it had been your city, your "nation", which was manacled, beaten down, discriminated against. Then along comes a superhero.
this would be awesome. sport proposed this as a mosaic for the clasico for those that don't know, johan's speech to the team before the 1992 european cup final was just "salid y disfrutad", which translates to "go out and enjoy."
So nervous about tomorrow. While the point gap is fairly substantial, this game has so much symbolic importance behind it. Add to that the fact that BBC are finally healthy and appear to be clicking, and our D has been suspect this year and I'm
Literally feel little emotion towards tomorrow. Will be shocked if we lose. Real Madrid are a wreck in the midfield. Completely overmatched there. The league is over. I'm so focused on CL right now. Very worried about the Atletico draw. I think I would rather play Bayern at this point than Atletico. Regardless, let's beat the shit out of Madrid tomorrow. They are a flawed, broken ass team in my eyes.
You're all right with possibly losing to real for cruyff's memorial game? I feel more comfortable bowing out in CL to atleti over losing to real in the homage game for the architect behind this squad's existence. In the grand scheme of things does it matter? Probably not. But really, this game goes way beyond any of that
I didn't mean I would be ok with losing. I just don't have much feeling going into today. This game just has zero effect on the season. I will be shocked if we lose.
We just aren't use to losing. Monday we will feel better. My opinion right now is just suck suck suck.
Haha. I earned that one. Great game plan from Zidane today. Props for winning today. We are still the best team in Europe.
I've been really worried about the Atletico draw since it came out. Just have had a bad feeling. We have beat them like six straight times but for some reason, I'm feeling uneasy about it.
