Psyonix has "figured out" the technology required to makeRocket League the first game to allow cross-network play between Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, and all it needs now is to "find out where we stand politically with everyone". In an interview with Gamespot, Psyonix vice president, Jeremy Dunham said: "Technologically everything works, we've got it figured out, just a little bit of time to get everything up and running. Right now, excitement is the best way to put it. We just want to get in there and make it happen." He added: "The only thing we have to do now is sort of find out where we stand politically with everyone, and then it's full steam ahead to finish the solution that we've already started."
So I just downloaded this on PS4. Gonna play some tonight but ihavenoideawhatimdoing.jpeg gt: zapbranigan87
The ranking system is rough in Challenger. Win 4, MVP three times, same sub division. 1 loss, dropped. I'm never getting out of Challenger 3. I was in V earlier tonight, 3 wins and still couldn't move up to elite.
Love the game, still struggling with aerials. I have to get my confidence up. I can consistently hit them in training now but always jump too late in game for the legitimate high aerials. Fuck all the PS4 bros coming over to Xbox one too. Pisses me off when I play a semi-pro Challenger III. Up to Challenger II in 3v3 and Challenger III in 2v2. I know I'm not great but getting better every day.
i'm real bad when i'm high, even worse when sober. how do i get better? my biggest issue seems to be controlling the car, even on the ground, which should def not be a problem with as much as i've played.
do the trainings over and over? its honestly a hard question to answer because...i mean its like someone coming to me saying they want to learn how to play hockey and say 'my biggest issue is i cant skate'...what else can i say other than 'learn to skate?'
I can skate, does that help? I generally straight up miss the ball about 30% of the time. Camera lock, no lock, doesnt matter. Each presents a different reason for me missing. I'm from dribbling and air shit it's not even funny.
Hit turbo and jump at the same time when you start doing aerials, You get up quicker and gives you more of a straight line. Jumping and then hitting turbo can lead to all sorts of fuck ups until you get used to it.
Practice, practice, practice, practice. Watch streams of good people (not great, good, watching pros freestyle doesn't help that much). Fail over and over again. Fail more. Then you'll notice holy shit I'm getting better. I am still far from 'good' at the game but have improved by leaps and bounds. There's a few really good tutorial video, here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo4TAFx-LITn53qpP_ZkWPQ and here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOw0zA-Gf5gpQ6K446mR0wA
Just takes time, I couldn't even dribble on slo mo in practice sessions 3 months ago, now I have to start messing around to keep it off the hood. Not that it ever does any good in solo standard which I am still playing 95% of the time. Wall hits are coming along and aerials I really don't think about before going up anymore, still miss one once in awhile, but probably up to around 90% to be able to hit where I try to in the air. I like doubles and way better for stats, but I have it stuck in my head that 3v3 is the intended way to play the game, so I kind of default to that. Also, my rotations on twos is pretty bad, I haven't spent enough time with it to have the when to attack and when to fall back timing right. I hate 1v1. Too much emphasis on the kick off. Sometime tomorrow, I'll grab a few games to put up. Some early stuff from last summer to something recent just to attempt to prove the 'it takes time'.
Took a nice hiatus from the game because I was just straight garbage, now I've come back with a vengeance went from prospect 2 to prospect elite and cruising through that in doubles in the past two days. won 13 out of 15 games last night.
I'll duo with you anytime friend, I just have been working a lot so I don't get on till midnight or later. I have a short week next week just hit me up.
So I am getting a couple of practice rounds in today, non-ranked. Everyone is being a total dick, What a Save x 6 if anyone screws up plus the other WOW!WOW!WOW! if anyone dares not hit a perfect shot. Usually, afternoons are the best crew. What is different? Oh yeah, American Spring Break this week. Our tweens really are the worst, seen more quitting and fits today in an hour of playing than the past week combined.
Always love the forfeit at the end. The game is over, might as well rage and take a 15 minute timeout. Good game, you would have killed him with a few aerials around the goal.
I finally did something I saved that was kind of cool when playing with BR today. I should probably just edit together my open goal problems, way more fun.
Decided to play a round after BR split, this is was the guy I got matched up with. 3 goals, 4 saves and 8 unanswered crosses later, at least ended on a win. The one time he sets me up, he manages to stay in front of the ball and knock it in the air. The rage was real. To be fair, their 1st goal was entirely my fault. His attempted kickoff at 2:00 (3:40 in the video) was the worst thing I have ever seen.
It's more just the difference playing with someone you can verbally communicate with vs. randoms. I must have hit the team-centering quick chat 10 times and he still kept following me into the corner though.
We're kind of making real rocket league plays now sort of. From BR's view, perfect assist with a little non-planned freestyle aerial.
Played a terrible game with an angry dude who liked to spam chat, next ranked game he was on the other team with a dude with a mic who was the angriest RL player I've evere encountered also his text chat would make PDL blush. Every time he would rage on the mic I would personally make sure to find him and demo him. We won on a buzzer beater and the mad was wonderful
So this is interesting, apparently, the PS4 controller is a total detriment while playing this game compared to the PS3 or Steam controller available on PC. There's really not a way for psyonix to fix this either as it's a radius issue on the joysticks. So now we have a built in excuse when we lose to PC guy.
NICE! Way to play back too, too many times in 3's, everyone rushes up front or someone stays back in goal. Perfect positioning, great goal!
Had a chance to run doubles with superfly0212 tonight, we did alright! I think we're both kind of attacking players so gave up way too many easy ones, but definitely had a decent night. Probably ended about 6-4 in ranked, nole had his 2nd aerial goal ever so that was great! I forgot to save any of the matches though. Also, for anyone following this thread, holler at me if you're online. Can run some unranked stuff or even just a open court practice. Would be nice to get a regular nightly team going, after playing with BR and Nole this week, it's soooooo much better than playing with randoms.
In bham this weekend for my little sisters bday but I'm definitely down to play next week. I think I found my new car.
Also, with more highlights posted, want to put this up. Camera positioning makes a huge difference in this game, if you watch my two videos above, I play as far out as you can get (Jacoblol/low5ive mix settings below) so I can see what is going on around me, but doesn't work for everyone, going to post an image of what some of the top RL players use as settings. I would expirament with them a bit and see what feels the most comfortable ... Just go into settings and try a few of those out. Might make a huge difference in your game.
Here is a link to a spreadsheet with some car stats. If you're constantly missing underneath, pick a taller hitbox car, if you are missing on turns, pick something that maneuvers better. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ca_CziO64oy12QViMYHHvtK4sW3hIIO3oexvr0yhs6A/edit#gid=0 I use Octane because it has the best turning radius and height combo. Hate the look of it, but changing over from the Dominus to Octane was a 100% difference. I think for getting started, Gizmo is the best. Just a huge front hitbox for shooting and tall with decent turning. Batmobile and Dalorean aren't on there, but compare with the Dominus. I hate the boost noise on the batman so can't use it and the Dalorean is way too short.
