damn i'm listening to michael kiwanuka for the first time , i downloaded Home Again from 2012, really good stuff, damn
So not many comments on the Radiohead album. I have been trying to get into it all week and I think I'm finally starting to really appreciate it and get all of the nuances. Musically it is really good. Definitely a grower.
In Rainbows came out in 2007 and The King of Limbs came out in 2011... that's it besides this new one
Yeah I enjoy all their albums, admitted fanboy. Can't wait to hear the new album, waiting for it on Spotify.
I found that one James Blake record with his face all blurred on the cover or whatever boring. Tried several times and couldn't get into it. Is this more of the same or a departure from that slow, atmospheric, not much ever happens stuff?
I thought king of limbs was bad, and I'm not into this one. 9 years since they've done anything interesting, to me. Hence, my original comment.
can y'all give me the name of maybe 3-5 rap artist /album to check out. haven't listened to any good new rap in forever. downloading wale's 2015 album now
Unknown Mortal Orchestra absolutely killed it last night. Best show I've seen in a while. I was really surprised by the energy they brought. Also got a p cool shirt out of it Spoiler
Trashcan Sinatras - I may be the only oldster in this thread that was in high school when they released their first LP - well anyhow they released a new LP - Wild Pendulum - excellent stuff if you're into them
In contrast to the other new Band of Horses song, I think this is much better. I really like the combo with J Mascis.
would you consider Sturgill Simpson red dirt country or what genre? indie country? if i like him who else might i like? just downloaded Whiskey Towns first album. Gonna see if i like them and Ryan Adams
I don't fw that genre but Jason Isbell's last two records have been spoken of very highly And re: Ryan Adams, his cover album of Taylor Swift "1989" is the flames. Avoided it for a few months bc the idea sounded cheesy to me but it's not; he makes it awsesome
He considers himself "metacountry" or something like that. Not sure of any other "country" artists you're going to find that sing about the turtles they see during acid trips.
I'm gonna start a separate house music topic I think. There's enough interest on the board and not enough ppl check this thread. btw I'd consider Sturgill more of a roots rock musician
"house" is as broad as "indie." there's all sorts of music that qualifies. deep house usually incorporates a type of jazz or funk element. microhouse is basically the same except more minimal, and usually without vocal. eurohouse is super weird and european and disco-like
I wish they would get into more organ stuff. When I saw them live, it was 1,000x better since they had the organ player playing live.
