1. Denial 2. Anger 3. Bargaining 4. Depression 5. Acceptance You're clearly only at step 3, but you're still farther along than a lot ITT. I'm at a 5. I know there's not going to be any more books. I'll be pleasantly surprised if we get WoW. What's everyone at in here? Also could be a decent thread title.
1. The series was the first time I felt absolutely compelled to do nothing but read since I binged The Dark Tower in college... And it's no ASOIAF, by a long stretch
Honestly they're worth reading even if he never finishes another book. They shit on the show and the show is pretty great
Hit stage 4 after last night's episode. Sucks because I really thought the episode was great, I just couldn't enjoy it bc the depression hit. There is no longer any bargaining to be done. The show is going to layout how the series will [most likely] unfold.
I think we get the glorified happy ending in the show (Dany+Jon fighting whitewalkers with dragons and saving the day). I the books it will most likely be a lot more complicated getting there and probably won't have as much of a happy ending. I'm just guessing though
4 is actually my favorite book, and I liked 5 a lot. Unfortunately, they cut out the two major stories I enjoyed from 4 and 5. Jaime in the Riverlands and Aegon.
Aegon as in fAegon? I hate his entire arc. It's pointless as far as we can tell. But I did love the Riverlands, you're right about that one. Jaime coming into his own is glorious to behold.
how is Aegon's arc pointless? in the books he's at the head of an army that is about to take Storms End and he's about to marry into an alliance with Dorne. far from pointless.
I don't think fAegon goes anywhere. I think it ends up being a tangent that he started and will turn into nothing important with the ending.
He comes along at a weird part of the story. At a time when everything should start circling back toward home, we're adding another arc that could be huge or could be nothing? And it's ANOTHER character with questions surrounding his identity?
And if he is real, what's the payoff? A character that didn't show up until 4,000 pages in becomes the big hero?
That too. It's either pointless filler or lazy deus ex machina incompetence. I see no good outcome for the arc.
The Blackfish clearly doesn't concern himself with the compliments of lesser men. One of the things I love about it.
I'm going to read it, and I'm going to like it while hating him. Let's just release the whole book chapter by chapter, that's better than what we're doing now.
My girlfriend said, "wait, this author spent 5+ years working on this and he releases it with typos?"
This has always been my thought as well, the show will have a more Hollywood ending while the books will have a much more bittersweet ending.
I've long been in acceptance that TWoW won't be released before the entire show finishes and GRRM will die before he finishes ADoS.
