I know this sounds weird, but a lot of times it gets better. Casting directors generally have a better idea what they're looking for when a show is on subsequent casts.
The fact that Miranda wrote it with certain actors in mind (Washington and Lafayette/Jefferson) makes me have my doubts. And himself as Hamilton obviously.
Miranda wasn't even sure if he'd play Hamilton. He considered playing Burr. It's Broadway, and it's the biggest show on Broadway. It will sound different, but they'll still get talented people. But it will not be exactly the same, so I can see your point there.
It's a unique code, I tried buying more with my code and it flagged it. Pre sale was done on ticket master.
Miranda as an actor/singer is very replaceable Sure, it'd be awesome to see the original guy perform but his best asset is as a writer.
You left out the rapping requirement to the role. Finding someone that can do all three probably isn't that easy.
Yea Miranda will be tough to impossible to replace. His performance at the White House was insanely good.
FYI- Yesterday I called into Amex and was on hold for 80 minutes before I hung up trying to get Hamilton tickets for my sister's bday. Well, I called today, and there was no hold time at all, and they told me they just got a new allotment today that they didn't have yesterday. So if you've got a platinum AMEX call in and get u some tickets son call number on back of the card, ask for concierge enter your card # select tickets option (option 1)
Danmit. They had no mezzanine left when I got through after two hours on hold so I bit the pill and bought the premiums. $850 each. Fuck.
I would try back in a few days. When I called yesterday they said they just got a new batch of tickets, so try again the next few days and maybe that'll happen again. Don't give up user dcspartan!
Didn't break any win records but was still a hell of a run. I don't think I've seen a bigger "lock" for best musical at the Tonys. Also, tried to take advantage of the release of tickets after the celebration. I got two tickets in March Row B in orchestra for 200 each. lol -- JK -- It timed out TWICE at checkout and I got left with a dick covered in shit. I really hate ticketmaster.
I was happy to see Odom win best lead. Miranda has gotten tons of credit, deservedly so, so it was good to see someone else get some.
Yorktown was an interesting, albeit very pleasing, choice last night. Miranda's sonnet acceptance speech was also pretty cool.
The creativity of the whole thing just blows my mind. It's just absolute genius. As weird as it sounds it kind of bums me out that I don't think I'll see something on this level again.
I went down the LMM and Hamilton rabbit hole again. Here's him performing the opening song from Hamilton at the White House in 2009. He mentions he's doing a concept hip hop album on Hamilton and the crowd laughs.
I've heard him talk about the original idea, and he didn't know what it was going to be originally but did say he didn't set out to make it a musical. Pretty incredible how it evolved into that.
I listened to this for the first time last week on my way to and from work Tuesday-Thursday. Friday night my wife and I listened to the entire thing. Just fantastic. Yorktown might be my favorite song
I tried getting on Ticketmaster a couple of times. Wouldn't even load tickets, there's so much traffic.
I gave up. Just decided to rely on my outstanding social circle in Chicago. Spoiler and pray to the Lord and Savior, Lafayette
If you get me drunk and let me crash on your couch I'll sell you my second at face and we can go together
guess Truman didn't like my offer anyway, I just added two more for opening Saturday. It's going to be tight
I'm doing some wheeling and dealing but I'll be up either Saturday Oct 1, Sunday, Dec 4 or Sunday March 12
Both. My schedule is up in the air so I just claimed a bunch of tickets and will sell the ones I can't go to.
If for some reason you want to sell a pair at or close to face, I'm your guy. I get it if you want to make a mint off of them, though.
