Because she won't encounter her enemies in Dorne. Why march your entire army all those extra miles when you can land at Dragonstone, close to Kingslanding?
No reason per say, other than nostalgia perhaps, was where she was born etc.. Tactically though, launching her forces from Dragonstone while the combined forces of Houses Martell and Tyrell converged on KL from the South, seems like a not too meh initial battleplan.
That's kind of the point. Seems a lot safer to bring her forces ashore unopposed instead of doing it under fire.
One of the reasons its always been so hard to conquer dorn is how horrible the march is. Also with a few dragons to cover your landing it shouldn't be that hard.
Yep. And it's not like Dragonstone is strongly held currently. As far as the show is concerned, is there even anyone holding it? I know it's the strongest castle in Westeros and van be held by a small force for a long time, but against dragons? Nah son. Dany's going to Dragonstone
I thought the most interesting part was that it might be a drag writing out your big surprise knowing that everyone already has it figured out.
dragonstone is pretty strong, but based on what we've read, i'd but the eyrie and storm's end as more difficult castles to conquer.
Cannot remember for certain, seemed like it's basically deserted (show) since Stannis left, Varys would def know though...
show Dragonstone is pretty much open for grabs. Stannis may have left a token garrison behind but lol
Yeah, as far as I know, the show has not addressed if anyone is even at Dragonstone. In DWD, Loras is (supposedly) horribly injured while storming Dragonstone for the crown, so someone from Stannis' camp is still there.
It would require that fat fuck to finish a book in order for him to kill her. I think she's safe for now.
maege mormont is the lord of bear island in the books and lyanna isn't even her heir. also, GRRM doesn't have a twitter
Lyanna is in charge of Bear Island when Stannis note arrives and she does proceed to tell him to fuck off tho
god I hope not the show sparrow has ruined the book sparrow for me I wont be able to read about him without thinking about that smug self righteous asshole from the show
The Eyrie is a piece of cake with Dragons and a little kid lord. Dany can just pull a Visenya, fly up, let Robert/Robyn take a few spins around Sky and pull the Vale into the fold as well.
But Robert has LF pulling the strings, assuming he's alive when Danaerys arrives, so the Eyrie won't be that easy to bring into the fold with LF in control.
saw someone mention euron as valonqar. cersei has no allies, euron has 1000 ships. maybe they forge a marriage alliance and euron wraps his hands around her pale white throat, chokes the life from her and sits the iron throne. show euron killing cersei would be a lot less compelling than jaime, but it's plausible.
Theory I came up with on how Euron will get his 1000 ships built quickly enough to engage Dany's fleet at sea:
This show just delivered one of the best episodes in TV history. Let's cut it some slack for a bit, shall we?
