River players pepper sprayed by Boca fans at the Bombonera before the 2nd half was set to start. Shocking. Game's been delayed almost an hour now. Probably gonna be suspended.
A embarrassing situation that should have never happened. Guy cuts through the security fence with a fucking blowtorch to get the exposed opening of the tunnel. Oh yeah that guy had been banned last month too. Match could resume over the weekend at a "neutral" site but who knows as the confederation is meeting today via conference call. Some rumors that Boca could be kicked out of the competition and face a long stadium ban. The only reason they can play it so soon is because the domestic league is suspended for the weekend due to the death of a player earlier in the week.
Match ruled 3-0 River win. Boca has received a 200k fine, 4 home CONMEBOL matches behind closed doors, No away ticket allocation for 4 CONMEBOL matches, and can appeal everything but the result.
Apparently FIFA intervened and gave an ultimatum to CONMEBOL to either hand out a harsher punishment or forfeit its playoff spot for the fifth place team in World Cup qualifying. It looks like CONMEBOL has decided to stick to its guns, meaning they would forfeit a .5 seed. Dayum.
19 year old RB that has already made his debut with the full Argentine National Team https://vine.co/v/eq7hiFvIwh6 Sam Kelly @HEGS_com ยท May 21 LRT: Juan Pablo Varsky is impressed by Emanuel Mammana. 'He plays with a top hat and cane!'
Tigres played Internacional out of the park last night. Gignac is already balling. Final will be Tigres vs River Plate. Pretty funny considering River had to rely on Tigres to get them through in the group stages. River automatically qualifies to the Club World Cup now since they're the only representative of Conmebol left.
If you have soccer withdrawals there is a good game on tonight (FS2 and Fox Deportes). Semifinal between a perennial powerhouse against the Cinderella team of this year. Boca Juniors (ARG) vs Independiente del Valle (ECU)
Also Atletico de Medellin beat Sao Paulo of Brazil 0-2 in Brazil last night in the first leg of the other semifinal. You can pencil them in the final.
So happy you posted this. Was looking for something to watch and ESPN is about to rerun the hot dog eating contest in prime time started watching the San paolo v atletico game last night.
Atletico Nacional (Col) vs Sao Paulo (Bra) semifinal 2nd leg is on tonight at 8:45 PM on FS2 and Fox Deportes. Atletico lead 2-0 on aggregate.
No idea as I watch on Fox Deportes too. Last week Fox Deportes had an announcer named David Fucks (obviously pronounced different in Spanish).
I only watched the last 20 minutes which were pretty entertaining and vintage Copa Libertadores. A penalty, 2 reds after the penalty, coaches going crazy in the sidelines, South American football.
Tonight's game should be really good and I don't know if there is a better atmosphere in the world than La Bombonera for a big Copa Libertadores match.
Just a quick reminder. 30 mins away. Boca Juniors vs Independiente del Valle. Independiente leads 2-1 on aggregate.
No atmosphere like it. They got even louder after Independiente tied it. Been a great game so far. Extremely impressed that Independiente came back after the early goal.
I turned away for 10 mins to watch the replay of the Tour de France and Independiente scores 2 goals. Crazy.
God damnit I forgot this was on. I watched last nights match and it was quite entertaining with all the shenanigans.
First Leg of final tonight at 8:45 FS2 and Fox Deportes. Independiente del Valle (ECU) vs Atletico Nacional de Medellin (COL)
Return leg of final tonight at 8:45 PM on FS2 and Fox Deportes. No away goal rule in the final so this should be a great game. Atmosphere gonna be nuts in Medellin.
Fox Deportes has the rights again for the tournament. They are in the return leg of the round of 16 now. River Plate v Guarani tonight.
