FIL is on vacation today and instead of doing his never ending honey do list of essential house projects he's building a platform for my my daughters castle....you know...so it's level as opposed to just sitting on a near level grass area. I just want to say to him I would rather he puts a banister on his open staircase for her safety. I swear he was the inspiration for that commercial where the couple puts off getting life insurance and just makes up shit to do every day.
I understand. It's his house that we have the good fortune of staying in while ours is being built I tried to replace a door knob the other week and he wouldn't even tell me where I could find a working drill. He must be there to supervise everything and I refuse to work like that. He's had the steps and banister and everything for this project sitting in front of his desk for > 5years.

Back when I was first dating his daughter I was such a prick. I'd come over to her parents' place with her on the weekend and drink his beer and openly root for Nebraska (his team) to lose. I feel bad about it now but he told me to forget about it...he's just happy because I make his daughter happy
How old is he? As easy as it is to pretend potential FILs are a known commodity after a brief acquaintance, if he ain't in his 60s and safely outside the midlife crisis window, I wouldn't count him in the pro column for marrying her just yet.

My FIL gives us a case of wine every time we see him whether he visits us or we visit him. Assortment usually ranges from $20-$150 per bottle. Going to visit them for the 4th. Looking forward to it. He also randomly plants flowers around our house when he comes to visit and trims our roses. Pretty good dude.

So in this heatwave in the northeast, FIL still chooses to run the pool heater. Water temp set at 88. It's not even enjoyable to swim. I was sitting in their old house and closed the windows and put the air conditioner on when everyone was coming in for dinner that I was grilling. He shuts it off and opens the window because there was a "breeze". It was mid 80's and humid as hell. I don't understand him at all.

A little backstory in the quote. FIL has never been afraid to eat. I order a pizza last night. He says he is trying to watch what he eats until vacation....we leave tomorrow. Hell of a time to start. Spoiler he ate the pizza because he won't ever cook.

On our annual drive to myrtle beach I gave in to the fact that I had to follow my FIL for the 12 hour drive and didn't even turn on gps....until he got off the main interstate to take back roads to avoid construction around DC. It was around 3 am so I doubt it was bad. We ended up going through two different lanes for the tolls and I just followed my gps. We ended up in different lanes and he had to go towards the airport. I called and said I would meet him on 95 south. I ended up getting there 20 minutes minutes before and had to stop and wait. My SIL boyfriend told me he physically pulled out a roadmap. (He refuses to get a real phone which may have been my first post in this thread. #flipphone4life)
