Episode two. Really liking it. No way I dont finish it this weekend. Spoiler Sorry Barb, that's what you get for being a cock-block Also, whatever IT is - it obviously goes through electrical wiring. Was that Will trying to communicate w his mom?
Watched a couple episodes last night at my brother's and it scared the shit out of my sister-in-law. p good so far
Just finished first episode and will definitely bingewatch. The little girl with the buzzcut was incredible last year on the BBC series Intruders. Loved pretty much everything about it.
Three episodes in and I have gotten the chills badly multiple times. Love the homage to Poltergeist, ET, and Close Encounters. The music in the library sounded like Ferris Bueller. Loved the Heroes cover when they are at the water and they find .... Show is awesome so far.
Really enjoyed it. Blew through the whole series today. I've never bingewatched anything like that, but I was laid up with a summer cold and really got into it. Great writing, great acting (especially the kids, which is normally not the case), nice cinematography, and just loved the overall vibe. Will be interested to hear some opinions on the ending once everyone catches up.
Just finished. Knocked out 4 on Friday and 4 today. Really liked it. Spoiler I hope next season is the origin of what that program was and all that shit. This show was such a nice surprise. Didnt even know about it until I saw tweets that it was released friday.
not sure when it's ok to not spoiler so spoilering for now Spoiler I didn't expect it to have a cliff hanging type thing, not that it was really that, but for little while I was hoping this storyline would be wrapped up and then maybe it would end up being an Outer Limits/Twilight Zone type series where each season is some different kind of story with this same kind of feel. Regardless was still a great season and I'm interested as to where they take it.
You might get your wish. Spoiler Could season two of Strange Things get even stranger? IGN recently spoke to creators Ross and Matt Duffer about the future of the Netflix series. The supernatural drama follows the search for a young boy who mysteriously goes missing. The cast includes Winona Ryder, Matthew Modine, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, and Caleb McLaughlin. When asked what a second season would look like, Matt said it would be more of a sequel than a direct continuation of season one: "We wanted to do a couple things with this season. We didn’t want to do Shitty AMC Show thing. We wanted it to resolve that main thing of Will going missing in the first season. So in that sense, it is like an eight-hour movie. Now, we don’t answer all the questions by the end of the season – there are definitely some dangling threads. The hope is that it feels satisfying but that we left room and that if people respond to it we can go back into this world. But if we do get to go back, it’s not a second season as much as a sequel.” While Netflix hasn’t officially renewed Stranger Things for a second season, star Matthew Modine says season two’s already been ordered. Stranger Things premiered today, July 15th, on Netflix.
Working my way through this. Shouldn't have watches episode 1 at 11pm Sunday night. No telling when I stop watching. Absolutely hooked. I feel like its a cross between Jumanji, ET, and The Goonies and I love every second of it
Yo I went to bed scared after episode 2. That little girl/boy freaked me out more than alien thingy. Good show.
Six episodes in and loving it. Will finish tonight. The throwback soundtrack (background music, not just the songs) and cheap 80s graphics make this feel like we're watching a long-lost series straight from a time capsule. Which is fun for people of a certain age - like me.
Probably going to do the same. Finished it last night and I'm already wanting to see it again. Question, not really a spoiler, but just in case. Spoiler Is this a standalone season? I kind of got the vibe that maybe they do a Fargo/True Detective thing and each season could be a "stranger things" seperate season. Kind of like "Creepshow" was. Loved those types of movies.
Spoiler nah. Duffer brothers said that the second season would be a "sequel" instead of a continuation. Exploring the upside down more too
Incredible show, I absolutely loved it. the girl who played 11 was absolutely fantastic, especially for having very few speaking lines. Spoiler I'm glad they had the sheriff putting eggos in the box at the end cuz if they killed 11 I was going to have to burn down Netflix HQ
Thought the same thing about the actress. She was really good for having to use mostly expressions and no words.
Also, is the toothless kid for real toothless? Like, did the casting call same for any child actors that could play 11-12 yr old but missing front teeth? He's got that market cornered.
Apparently, it's a real condition. http://www.mymbuzz.com/2016/07/06/10-things-you-need-to-know-about-netflixs-stranger-things/
Actual spoiler Spoiler So Brenner was the doctor that took the police chief's girl that supposedly had cancer right? She was kinda like 11.
Yeah, I was curious about that condition as well. Kid has already done some decent stuff on Broadway. I thought he was great, as were all the kids. Gaten Matarazzo also got his start on Broadway with roles in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert: The Musical and Les Misérables. Stranger Things is his first big television role; his only other credit is for a single episode of The Blacklist.
Just finished it with the woman friend, great show! Kid actors were perfect. Like everyone else has already said felt like a mashup of E.T., The Goonies, The Thing, and Poltergeist rolled into one. Love the synth song they played, can't find it anywhere.
Spoiler doing a rewatch and I'm on the finale, but I swear I remember when they're in the hospital and she's flatlining one of the doctors has the same hair and sideburns as Brenner.
I've got one more episode to go. I like it a lot, but one major complaint is that the monster is boring and the CGI for it is real bad.
Agree, but I think it's a combo of being an ode to 1980s thriller horror and also it's a low budget Netflix show.
