Just finished. They took the 80s-kids-adventure-with-danger trope and turned it up.... Spoiler To eleven
Incredibly well made, finale was fabulous. The chick reminds me of Emmy Rossum, a bit less curvy and slutty looking.
The chick? You mean Winona Ryder? Who has probably made more movies than Emmy Rossum has watched? But yeah, I guess I can see it.
Ah hell. I guess I can see that. That just tells you how old I am. Nancy doesn't look much older to me than the boys in the movie. All those movies people are referencing with regard to this show? I saw in theaters or on first run VHS.
thought the trailer looked liked something i wouldn't like, watched ep1 yesterday just b/c of high ratings. binged the fuck out of it and just finished. was great
I liked it, didn't love it. Thought the finale was phenomenal, though. I don't know if they plan on making another season or what, but I'm not even really sure I'd be interested in another season. I felt like those characters worked for the eight episodes that it was.
Work with disabled kids for a living and have been involved with several who have this. They all sound just like the kid in the show. /coolstory Starting episode 6 now.
Spoiler Its not. Thought the same thing and posted on previous page and someone replied with a link to interview with the creators. Apparently it'll use same characters next season but go way deeper into the Upsidedown. They still may end up doing it like that though and maybe have new characters interacting with it.
Spoiler OK, is that really Will? Is he under some kind of spell or is he just being quiet to protect his family? And what the fuck is Sheriff Hopper doing leaving food for Eleven? Was that the deal he made, to keep her existence quiet? Because that was before she sacrificed herself. I love it, thought it was great, but those things just kind of confused me. Also, you don't have to roll to hit with a fireball spell, it's an area effect, so anyone inside the area would get a saving throw. /nerd
Spoiler there is a link on page one where they talk about how they have all kinds of stuff for another season. Looks like it'll involve same characters but go more in depth into the upside down
She's a manatee. And not like girl beside Sara Jean Underwood type manatee. More like ugly girl beside average looking girl type manatee
Some of the kids in the cast were fascinated by the โ80s decor. Millie Brown, who plays Eleven, says, โItโs a lot more fun to work in the โ80s than modern day! I saw a record player on one of the sets and asked my dad for one for Christmas and he got me one and I love it!โ The 80s really were the best
Just finished last night. Spoiler . I really really enjoyed it. Not a bad cast member in the show. Super excited for the next season. I feel like the ending however was tacked on. Those last three scenes felt like they were a little out of place. I would guess the show was meant to end with the kids in the hospital but when they realized it was going to be good and get more episodes they added those three finals scenes on. Regardless, very good show and looking forward to more.
Finished last night. Amazing, amazing show. One of my favorites in a while and definitely tops for me on Netflix. Loved every second of it. Here is a pretty cool fan-made poster Spoiler: Poster Also, this guy made a trailer in the form of a sitcom, which is pretty funny and well done.
Creepy factoid: the series is exactly 6.66 (repeating of course... Leroy Jenkins) hours long. Chapter 1: 48 min. Chapter 2: 55 min. Chapter 3: 52 min. Chapter 4: 50 min. Chapter 5: 53 min. Chapter 6: 46 min. Chapter 7: 42 min. Chapter 8: 54 min. 48 + 55 + 52 + 50 + 53 + 46 + 42 + 54 = 400 400 รท 60 = 6.66666666666666666666666...
I broke my foot into a billion pieces and my day/night schedules are completely out of whack. Started this series at 3am, got about 8 and a half minutes in when the monster appears behind Will and was like more than a little ashamed to turn it on the next day and find out that was like the most super intense part of the whole series
Spoiler Just noticed during the funeral part that the dog goes into the fort and starts whimpering. Nice foreshadowing there.
Finished last night. What a great series, although I'm not sure how you continue the same story. I feel like horror stuff loses a lot of appeal after the mystery is gone. The Hopper flashbacks in the finale of his daughter just destroyed me. Literally went and laid next to my 3 yr old daughter for about 30 min afterwards.
5 episodes binged last night so not gonna read the thread yet. Show seems very spoilerable. not crazy about the show but it's entertaining so I'm gonna finish it and hope the last few episodes draw me in for a 2nd season. Like the 11 actress at Barb. everything about her looks/name/attire and what happened to her. Mike looks like an alien Cant' take Winona's emo son seriously Spoiler: come the fuck on how does he let Nancy crawl into that fucking vagina tree by herself and come away from the situation so clueless? walking side by side for miles through the woods. then all the sudden you just happen to wander far enough away in 8 seconds that you are oblivious to what the only other person in the woods is doing? I get the whole mystique factor they're going for with 11 only speaking in monotone 1 syllable words, and only when absolutely necessary, but come on. when they ask her a question, and she can understand english perfectly well and seems to be able to articulate it when she actually wants to... it pisses me off that she would answer a question with "Bad." give me a break. at one point around episode 3 i just started looking at 11 as a young female version of E.T. and it made the character much more believable and entertaining
