The scene in one of the episodes where he talks about his concussions might have something to do with it. Obviously it's unfair to judge him based off a one-minute conversation, but he sounded like he was one step away from coming to campus on a short bus.

I liked the advisor, Trickett, and I think the OC was an underrated good guy. Cared for the kids and was the "build them up after they've been torn down" coach. Also seemed to know his shit. I didn't mind the HC. He's an asshole, yeah, but he deals with some asshole players who need someone to check them. He was spot on when he said some kids are responsive to his antics and others shut down. A bit of a loose cannon, sure, and a bit much for that level of ball, but there are many coaches out there who have that second personality when they're on the field. I coached high school with one before and it's weird to have to deal with. Not quite at that level of insanity, but the point remains.
Watched the first episode last night. Not sure how much Ms. Academic Advisor is making at EMCC but she needs to use this for a raise or a new gig in a city or at a school she wants to be at. Be careful getting too close to those athletes though...

With how recruiting the Southeast works and the success he's had he must really be disliked by the coaches to not have taken a better job. Especially because I have no doubt he's tried selling himself as a package deal for a recruit.
Decent series. I wish they were there when Swag Kelly was around. I get why people find these kids unlikable especially the main characters. I don't get the Ronald Ollie hate though he's a classic product of the environment he had around him. Miss Wagner the real MVP.
